What contacts? Well, seeing as he was the chief foreign correspondant to a major international newspaper, the names and numbers of just about every congressperson, chief of staff, cabinet member, and high-ranking government officer in D.C., as well as more than a few Chechen rebels, Afghani freedom fighters and Taliban contacts.
Of course he didnt have a backup, did you have to ask?
20 hours days for several weeks. Hot lights, makeup, dealing with obnoxious celebrities, picky directors, arrogant producers. millions of dollard worth of equipment that could be broken at any time. Driving trucks and vans all over the place to pick up people and supplies, being constantly over budget and short on time, just to make a movie that might not even get released in theaters, or wont turn out anything like you planned.
Sound stressful? its not, i love every minute of it.
There's no reason any job should be stressful. If it is, its not the job for you.
Make that "price*, image quality*, resolution, better viewing angle* vs space, weight, style, eyestrain and radiation".
*even so, the price, image quality and viewing angle arguments are sketchy: you'd be hard pressed to get price AND image quality in a CRT, and the viewing angle? Who views their monitor at a 110 angle? And even if you do, youre going to get a lot of glare off of a glass CRT.
CRTs may be far from dead, but they're also far from the clearly superior product you make them out to be.
Jeez people, its called Covering Your Ass. When you are selling a service to millions of people you need to put things like this in, because America is so damn sue happy, the RIAA being no exception.
I could probably find something disturbing in the licensing of every product I own. Does that mean Im going to stop buying online music, toasters, cars and internet access?
I would soil myself if I saw Apple deliberately investigating every single song they sold to see if someone took their iPod to Montral for a weekend.

Umm... if you whink White Wolf invented werewolves and vampires, you really need to take a little trip to your local library...
Youre looking at this all wrong.. its a cdR-rom, not a cdRW-rom... imagine buying a piece of software... when you install it, heck, maybe as soon as you put it in, it writes your machine's serial number or MAC address on the disc, so you cant take it home and install it on another machine...
What I was looking for, in all honesty was a case very similar to the existing one, but large enough to comfortably accomodate everything inside while allowing for airflow and ease of upgrade: anyone whos had to try plugging/unplugging the IDE drives in a G3 or G4 tower knows what Im talking about. A cleaner looking front, two eject buttons, and front-mounted USB/FireWire would have been spiffy too.
I'M IT in an office with 90+ Macs. Believe me, i get on my knees and thank Ives every day for the handles, I have to move machines around daily. But you can redesign the case and still give it handles..

Basically, the motherboard is a thing of beauty: DDR finally comes to Mac, dual procs, gobs of cache, ATA/100 AND ATA/66, a bitchin memory controller, 4x AGP and 4 PCI slots... This is the culmination of everything Mac users have been lusting over in a mobo.
But what the $&#*@ is up with that case??
It looks like Apple is so stubbornly hanging on to the 4 year old G3 design that theyre just cramming everything in wherever it will fit- some HDs mounted sideways, some flat. PCI slots on TOP? vents everywhere, ungly front bezel that looks like it was cobbled together last minute to accomodate the two optical drives, and a heatsink the size of an air conditioner. The engineers should have stopped and asked themselves if this was a good idea after they started perforating the thing like a cheese grater just to get air flowing through it.
Dont you see? the innovation isnt the scooter, its the system inside that keeps it upright no matter how far you lean or what youre traveling over. Think of all the things this can be used for aside from a damn scooter...
-More stable wheelchairs, motorcycles, mopeds
-two-wheeled robots a 'la The Jetsons
-dont even get me started on the military possibilities
