the American government was already rocking a line of cutting-edge portable computers that -- had they only been more widely released -- would have melted any tech lover's heart. And their face. And probably most everything within a mile radius.
We're speaking, of course, of the first-ever guidance system baked into the US Minuteman 1 nuclear missile. Maximum portability: about 9,700 km (6,000 mi). Target demographic: Commies.
he held the live tomahawk missile ON the ROOF of the boat for 2 days, during which he went through a storm with lightning strikes..... that's quite some luck, to go around with that and not have it hit by lightning
in between a ton of 503 http replies (slashdotting in progress) i have managed to browse all those pages (F5 FTW!) and i have NOT seen a link to download the software itself or even the source code and not even a promise of future availability.
Since the Linux kernel is licensed under the GPL and they seem to provide a binary-only kernel for their customers (no source code that i saw) it seems we have here yet another clear cut GPL violation case.
On their page at http://www.neopwn.com/software.php i know that the following have GPL licenses and they must also provide the source code for but they don't do it:
Debian OS (Lenny / ARMEL) - packages are GPL mostly Custom Kernel - (Linux 2.6.24) - GPL definitely Open Source Penetration Testing Application Ports - again, mostly GPL stuff
Also on their site at http://www.neopwn.com/store.php the cheapest option is $80... with a SD card and dvd thrown in but again no source code download available...
so, what gives? Do they charge for source code too ?
Admittedly, the site is still under construction and the suite has not yet been formally released, so they still have time to correct the issues.
"Windows XP Service Pack 3 contains hotfixes and updates released since Windows XP SP2."
there..fixed it for you.
Btw, i already got SP3 final since a few days ago, it's been posted on April 23rd 2008 on Softpedia:D
Current download count: 300,000 and counting like crazy.
That's what you get when you put beancounters in charge of computer security, a WHOLE LOT of shortcuts in the name of cost savings which lead ultimately to insecurity.
i too think that this looks like racketeering plain and simple, which should automatically classify the R.I. Ass of A as a corrupt organisation as definded by the RICO act of 1970:
http://www.ricoact.com/ricoact/ criminal activity: checked: collecting money for copyrighted works you don't own. (doesn't RIAA always claim that copyright infringement and piracy is a crime ?? here's that claim thrown right back at you dudes)
long term: checked: they have been doing this for quite a while now
statute of limitations of 4 years: checked (for most artists only though, some of them have let too much time to pass): there are surely at least a few artists that have only launched in these past 4 years, and are being 'milked' with this 'protection' tax by the R.I. Ass of A
quote from the article: -------------- Go to the SoundExchange site: http://plays.soundexchange.com/... and take a look at the hundreds of indie labels for whom SoundExchange claims they have collected royalties. Enter some of those label names on http://www.riaaradar.com/... and notice how few are actually members of the RIAA. Contact the label and ask if they are a member of RIAA and they almost certainly aren't and may not even be aware that SoundExchange is collecting royalty fees on their music. ------------------
they also have another nice project in the works... the Optimus Upravlator
they should think to introduce the Optimus Upravlator to Diebold, ES&S, Sequioa and the other voting machine manufacturers
The Optimus Upravlator seems to have ample space on each key to display a candidate's name directly on each button ( and left-right scroll arrows maybe on the bottom left and bottom right keys, if the list is longer than the available keys can display ).
Moreover, for voting machines you don't need all the electronics for five functions on a single button, one electrical contact per button might be enough, or keep all the electromechanical contacts on a button, for redundancy and button balancing, but wire them together.
This would solve the problems they have with touch screen voting machines that constantly need re-aligning the touchscreen with the display contents.
You would not end up with the machine selecting the wrong candidate, a different one than the one you tried to highlight on the screen.
it's great for reporting spam that gets through the spam filters.
Can be used for reporting spam to SpamCop, the FTC, FDA, SEC, ACMA (Australia) and / or Knujon.com. It also allows you to put in your own custom addresses to report spam to such as your ISP or corporate abuse address.
What i like about it is that it bunches all the spam in a single report mail with all the spam messages as attachments.
Also, i filter my spam in separate junk folders for SEC / FDA / others and i report to them just the appropriate crappola.

www.spamhaus.org.uk currently points to the same ip as www.spamhaus.org
I think they did it just in case that the USA decides to kill their.org domain... even though it is registered to an entity in the UK.
Although unlikely that they would lose the org domain...remember now that we're talking about a country that kidnaps german citizens in europe and deports them to afghanistan, so don't hold your breath on the "unlikely" part.
Now what they need to do before they lose the ORG domain is to post an announcement on the front page and make everyone using the.org domain to switch and use.org.uk instead, and after a few weeks of the announcement to start redirecting http://www.spamhaus.org/ to http://www.whitehouse.org/
if you look at the source of that page you'll see that they disabled their policies and most especially the privacy policy from being shown. You can only see the disabled links if you look at the page source.
if they are not shown, that means their do not want their customers to be protected by the terms & conditions of their contract... a bit dodgy if you ask me.
Also, that might mean that any spyware installed by those ads is not their problem, and F.U.
hmm, why does this seem to me that it will suffer the fate of CAN-SPAM ??
what will they use to enforce this on a servers hosted outside the US ?? an ICBM ?
so far the CAN-SPAM act only means that i can get more spam:(
ffs. next time learn to post a coral cache link... they're slashdotted now, and used the ostrich maneuver: head in the sand:P

so..thats $199 times 1399 = 278 THOUSAND 401 dollars.
i'm not from the US, nor a lawyer, but i remember reading somewhere that if the sum being extorted is greater than a certain amount then the thing escalates on fbi's priorities list and can be prosecuted more harshly... or i'm confused and mixing situations here ?
Not to mention that this is a matter of interstate commerce extortion, which makes it a federal offence already, no matter the amount of $$ involved.
let's not forget the screwed by sony part...
sony pushed a "special" screw for 61+ euro when it was not special at all.

We still have these instruments in some parts of Romania, they are called "bucium" or "tulnic" (varies across the regions of the country).

i beg to differ, Flashblock does have a purpose even together with NoScript:
on some sites i want to allow scripts but block flash... and this is the best solution i've found.
That's why Firefox+NoScript+AdBlock Plus+Flashblock were invented
yes, but does it run on lin...... oh it does.
:)
but can it work on a Roomba ?
what is amazing is the error message that the former site shows now:
[...snip...]
SQL/DB Error -- []
Error executing error template.
ROFL, even the error generator causes errors.
