While I agree, Apple has been pulling some amazing rabbits out of their asses the last couple years and it can't last forever, 2006 will be EASY for Apple to meet product expectations. All they have to do is continue on the measured release of the intel Macs. At some point in the year, throw off a new iPod model. Bing bang boom done.
At some point the growth rate for iPod sales will slow, but they have a pretty sweet cyclical market going now. We are addicted to the players. Like any piece of electronics, they and their batteries don't last forever and most iPod users get one to two years life out of each player.
Basically, US regulations regarding Anti Money Laundering (AML) and the Office of Foriegn Asset Control require you to manually scrutinize each and every transaction that goes in and out of certain geographic regions (including all of Nigeria). I can see where PayPal and others would want to avoid the expense of having a human being look at all the transactions and just disallow them en masse.
Help set her up on Vonage or an unlimited rate plan through her local phone company so she can just call the kids for a flat rate each month and not worry about long distance bills.
If a trademark is used in their ad, it is removed as it infringes on our trademark. If it is triggered on our trademarked name, we have no recourse. It is no different than a bottle of Tide being on a shelf at the store next to a bottle of Cheer.
I use Adwords to advertise for my company. I'm kind of surprised Geico had to resort to litigation. We have the same issue all the time. Google quickly and efficiently removes the ads that use our trademark when we follow their trademark complaint procedure.
The more comfortable your child becomes with computers will likely correspond to how successful they are in adulthood.
You can see that today. I'm in my mid twenties, so my generation was raised with computers and the internet. The individuals who are adept at using it (meaning they know how and where to find and analyze data) are much more successful and in demand than people who only have rudimentary knowledge of using a computer (meaning can turn it on but require extensive training on all applications thrown at them).
You can find anecdotal evidence for any situation. Anecdotal evidence has a 100% margin of error.
The reality is, Mac computer sales are HOT right now. They are experiencing year over year growth of sales higher than any other computer maker. The intel announcement appears to have done nothing to slow their growth in computer sales.
This is the earliest posting I can see on the VN board created shortly after the initial announcement of the game by Mythic. The post dates back to June of 2002.
For all intents and purposes, the game has failed to garner much of a following in over three years. I think Mythic was smart to pull the plug on this one. My only beef is that they should have done this much much sooner.
Many technologies first adopted by Apple become standards. Lets hope they can help SVG catch on. By catch on I mean native browser support, not the awful Adobe plugin.
Adobe's reader has turned into this huge bloated mess. The more complicated you make the software, the easier it is to have security holes slip by. Apple has great PDF reading and generation that comes free with OSX so you don't have to use the Adobe Reader. It's so nice to have a simple fast loading pdf solution.
To preface, we here in the US are certainly sending our thoughts and prayers to the UK today.
However, I am disappointed to hear that the stock markets are selling off just because of terrorism. This sort of mindless panic is exactly what they are trying to achieve. To truly defeat terrorism, we have to learn to chin up and plod onward with our lives. If we cower in fear and panic, we allow them to win.
In my opinion, AJAX has some compelling uses, but for most web application work, it adds a lot of extra complexity and points of failure with little end user return.
Ruby on Rails on other hand, will probably be the next PHP. It greatly speeds prototype development on and into live production. It also has built in unit testing and lots of other compelling features.
Run through the first Ruby Tutorial here. It will change your thinking on creating web apps forever.
The real chat-cord only costs $24.95 USD. This solution would cost $8.33USD by using raw Euro to USD conversion. For this little savings, I would just buy the chat cord and get the included software that works for windows and mac.
Many open source projects are mimics of commercially available software. They were adopted because they were free for the most part - not because the source code was available.
Very few people and companies customize the software or utilize the source code in any way.
SOE is all about making long tedious games to appeal to the type of person willing to sink all their free time for years into them.
Blizzard is after the "people who want to have fun playing games" market.
I think the numbers speak for themselves as to which market is more lucrative.
Star Wars Galaxies was not a huge success. Why? The game was not fun - even though it had a huge franchise to build off of.
Making games that people ENJOY playing will sell titles over name recognition, branding and marketing anyday.
I think that this would be a smart move for Nintendo. Especially if they follow the Apple model of offering a high quality free development environment for your system (xcode). End users make cool software at no cost to you. The more cool games you have for the system, the more incentives people have to buy your console. Especially if there is a lot of cool free content.
I used this software to correct my inefficient typing into standard touch typing several years ago. This was probably one of the best things I ever did. You can buy this software for practically nothing (>$20USD).
Paypal is awesome. I use it on www.frostedcookies.com to collect payments. No one has to register with paypal to send money - they can just enter their CC or checking account information and be done.
My guess is that Vivendi has no confidence in their ability to make publishing the game worth their while.
Turbine has to be hurting. Neither AC game has strong subscription numbers. They have two development projects that aren't stirring up much interest in the fan community. Heck, people have been declaring MEO vaporware for a few months now. They can't even work up the strength to publish their established properties expansions.

I would not be surprised to hear "World of Diablo" announced soon.

I have the NavTraffic service on my Acura RL. It's great!

I doubt it. It's probably some bored 13 year old kid and his buddies making absurd chat rooms for fun.

With average games that cost $50+ these days, there is no excuse for placing ads in them.

WoW is the best MMO game you can play. Pretty much makes all the rest look like 2 bit hookers.
