What if it's hot outside and my air conditioner is running?
Bad idea. Force the transmission into park if you really want something like this implemented.
Except that WebKit is becoming a pretty pervasive core for browsers. So much so that it's now the 'in' thing to do to bash browsers that don't run it..
I know a number of long time smokers that have switched to the e-cigs. Hopefully nothing but nicotine (hey the juice comes from China- so who knows), no second hand issues, doesn't smell, can smoke in restaurants, on long flights, in the car, etc. The biggest problem is that people might not die as quickly AND stop paying the exorbitant sin taxes on tobacco.
I really don't understand what the 'Krave' was doing on that list...
Not all of the liquid comes from China any more, there has been a huge influx of 100% USA made liquid in to the market over the past few months, and the consumers are gladly paying the slightly higher prices for it (myself included). More people are also shelling out the money to have their liquid tested which is a big step forward, and there are groups of users coming together to fund actual research in to the safety of using these devices vs. smoking (something that's common sense to most of us, but tell that to the FDA)
Yes, most all of the hardware still comes from China, but that's even starting to change as the ex-smoker geeks start getting their hands on these things.. there are huge sections on some of the PV (personal vaporizer, a term a lot of us prefer over e-cigarette) forums dedicated to building your own custom battery box so you can go days without having to charge it (and get to solder! win/win!), even some people who have reverse-engineered the atomizers and now build their own, how to mix your own liquid with supplies from US-based labs, etc.
The only big problem (besides the FDA and anti-smoking groups trying to shut us down) is the people trying to make a quick buck off of these things - the fancy brands like Krave, the sales kiosk in the mall (not all of them, but the ones who are just run by a salesman and not someone who actually understands and cares about what he/she's doing), the ones making health claims without proof to back it up, trying to sell to minors, ripping people off.. it makes the rest of us look bad. Every news article I see about these things says that a starter kit is "about $100-$150", when in reality they're about $30 or $40. And we know they're not healthy, they're just better than what we were doing before. Personally I got all of the health benefits normally associated with quitting within about four days of switching to my PV - increased lung capacity, no coughing, increased stamina, no stink, etc. I can use the thing in my house, or at my desk at work, and nobody even knows I'm doing it as there's no smell, and the vapor dissipates within seconds.

I use DirecTV as my TV service. Even if they add this channel (they wont because it competes with pay per view), they would use it as another reason to raise my bill. I also wouldn't be able to use the online streaming, as a techie with other options is obviously not going to use satellite Internet.
Long since? My meter just got upgraded to have this capability two months ago! South St Louis City got upgraded sometime last year, and last I checked they were one of the 20 biggest cities in the country..
Creationists . . . I don't even know where to start. Creationism is more reasonable than Flat-earth theory, but not much. The only real defense there is it is hard to make your own experiments to test evolution. You could see how you are a combination of your parents and extrapolate from there. I suppose you could take a weak antibiotic once a month until you develop some resistant bacteria or something, but that is a whole different variety of bad idea.
As I tell everyone else, there's not a real contradiction between believing in creation and evolution. It's just with creation the evolution starts much, much farther down the line...
I do agree with TFA that the lock option is rather pointless. Switch user will dump you to a login screen which still requires a password to be input to use the machine...
That pending connection limit kills the speed of P2P applications such as Bittorrent. Oh, but you think Bittorrent is only for pirating? Blizzard's downloader spreads WoW patches to all players via Bittorrent.
The firewall would be a much less intrusive method for people who actually have a clue what they're doing. Now we just have to figure out how to stop clueless users from blindly clicking the allow/unblock button when the dialog pops up...
What's so wrong with this? I would get a kick out of having access to schematics to major computer components. I'd probably build a few just for shits and grins!
I didn't read the whole thread, but here are my suggestions for any kind of voting machine:
1) To prevent fraud, you must swipe your drivers license or other acceptable government issued ID to gain access.
2) To prevent tampering and uncounted votes, have sensors on the machine that will detect if a voter is leaving the booth. If he leaves without submitting his vote, save his session and dump the machine back to the login screen. Play an audible message and alert an election official to let the voter know what happened
The bad vastly outnumber the good. Most other students that I meet who are really dedicated to learning take notes with pencil and paper. Why? You tend to remember things that you write down more.
Out of all the laptops I've seen used in classes, only a small fraction of them were actually doing school-related tasks.
Cell phone jammers are a rediculous idea. If someone has an emergency and needs to get a hold of me, I don't want them to be unable to be able to because some insensitive prick is running a jammer near me.
I will, however, advocate the jamming of ones fist into a rude cell phone user's face, or even a foot into an ass.
This thread got huge.
I don't see why everyone is so stuck to one side of the argument. I'll preface this reply (even though no one will likely read it) by saying that I am in fact a Christian. Yes, this means I believe in the creation. Now, that out of the way...
It seems that all of you who claim to be 'educated' are also athiests. Why is this? Is it because your 'scientific' mind tells you that nothing can exist before the beginning of time? This is something that can be viewed as a flaw with both theories. With the creation, God was around, and with the big bang, there were some dust particles. If that's not entirely accurate, bear with me, as the exact details of evolution theory do not matter here. Point is, something existed before the beginning of time in both thoeries, so they both must be false. That is the scientific method, right? It's quite obvious that no person will EVER be able to explain the beginning of time. They might be able to use science to explain how things progressed, but not why. The science can't provide a reason for what was there to begin with and how it got there.
My viewpoint is this: evolution theory is valid. But not quite to the extent that most people caught up in it think. I've seen enough science in my few biology courses to know this is the case. Natural selection is real. I would say, though, that evolution theory is how God did his work. Evolution is an endless process that is still going on today. There's no reason for these two viewpoints to not co-exist. One could even say that the big bang is the method God used to create the universe.
Now here's where my evolution knowledge gets a little flaky. Most evolutionists from what I've seen will dispute my argument here pulling out dates and timelines. But if I'm not mistaken, these timelines were created with carbon dating, which has been shown to yield inaccurate results. I'd research to find some instances, but I'm late for class. Yes, I'm a senior in a university studying engineering. I guess that makes me somewhat educated, doesn't it?
AIM already does support end-to-end SSL encryption. It's a pain in the ass to setup, and both clients must do it, but it works.
Take a look at http://www.aimencrypt.com/
They offer generic SSL certificates, but you can always generate your own or even used a signed cerificate. There's no pretty screenshots to show the method, but it's buried in the text.
With plastic surgeons being able to do as much as they can to people's appearance and physical traits, I'm sure they could change someone's fingerprints if they really wanted to.

I thought this kind of tax was prevented by federal legislation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Tax_Nondiscrimination_Act

That's exactly the attitude that prevents the third party candidates from doing any good!

Sorry about the ugly big block of text style, btw. I had it all seperated, but the posting system ate my linebreaks.

CDN would be short for 'Canadian', which in the subject would be gramatically correct.
yeah, my '87 ford thunderbird definitely doesn't have 120k miles on it right now, and it's definitely still not running.. *rolls eyes*
How much does that bundled telephone line cost you on top of that $15? Include all taxes and surcharges.
