I don't remember that being a solution because there is a backup file so that if anything happens to the original .exe it is automagically replaced by the backup file. Also, the backup file could not be deleted either unless you changed the ini settings. It's been so long since I've have to rebuild an XP machine that I'm not quite sure what it was you have to do, I just remember it being a pain the the @ss

Just take a look at the MSN Messenger. You have to literaly hack XP to get that crap removed, and that's even AFTER changeing hidden settings in hidden .ini files. You think it's any wonder that they wouldn't allow you to change the default browser? Course, why anyone who click a stupid link on your start button that says "Shop for Music" is beyond me.

I hate to say typical things like, "You must be new, nobody reads the articles." amongst other things.

I think the point of slashdot is not just to discuss the article. As long as a meaningful conversation is taking place why does it matter if it is Offtopic or not. The only thing that matters are trolls. As long as the people enjoy the posts, what's so wrong with that?

I do have to agree with you on most aspects of that. When I was younger, i.e. 16-17 I was a maniac on the road. After my insurance tripled in price I quickly learned the value of safe driving. I've been ticket free for 4 years now and have no plans again of ever getting another traffic ticket. Reckless driving and rediculous speeding has done nothing for me except make me poorer.

On a side note, the one thing I do like about UK is their gun control laws. I only wish that the US would take some of the UK's laws in consideration. The only drawback is that we'd have to convince congress that you do *NOT* need an AK-47 for duck hunting.

I don't know what Bush did to your mind, but it sorely needs some educating. Our presidents have created much worse astrocities that any "terrorist" has. Just off the top of my head, lets look at *JUST* the iraq "war". http://iraqbodycount.com/forum/ . Min. 7935 - Max. 9766 DEATHS! Now, 9/11... let's look at the guiness book... http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/content_pages/ record.asp?recordid=53241 2823 deaths... Bush killed 2.8108 times MORE people than the attack on 9/11 did, in just *ONE* conflict... Now who is the real terrorist here? I'm looking at the white house, what about you?

I completely agree with the parent. 95% of all television on now is crap. I mean what? Friends is on it's 19th season now? For the love of god what kind of sadistic person do you have to be to watch that Prozac induced madness. Of the very VERY few shows left on television there are people out there who cap them and distribute via the net. So for us who don't really have the time to set aside 30 minutes at EXACTLY 7PM EST it doesn't really work. Now I can watch my favorite simpsons episode of 22 minutes without commercials at 3am after the day is over the kids are asleep. It's amazing that TV execs haven't figured this crap out. Oh yea, they don't have a real job like the people who they depend on to watch their crap. Chalk up one more for the mindless executives who can't be execs because they are too busy being executives!
