But why trust any other source over Wikipedia? You'd still have to spend the time checking alternate sources on something printed in a newspaper, yes? If not, why not?
This is true, I should have been more specific and called it "malware". Which is what the banks etc really want to root out - keyloggers, form-capturing stuff, rather than the latest virus-with-an-SMTP-engine.
And what if I want to scan my machine using other, free AV solutions? And what if I am on (gulp) Linux, or a Mac? Punished for the actions of the majority? Tch-oh.
The drummer is the least significant component of any rock band. How these guys managed to call the tune is beyfond me. Just sit at the back and bash the pads, would you?
Some people are happy to spend hours wanking off about their new 50" plasma, or the fancy new TFT monitor they bought. So yes, people DO rattle on about tho objects you might think are merely functional.
Not sure about that, but it's a great moddable point you raise about Apollo 13 the movie, I've never thought of it like that - in history there were seven trips to the moon, and the only one they made a movie out of was the one that didn't get there. What is the world coming to etc.
If you add Capricorn One to the mix, it's even more infuriating!
(From a Brit) Beagle 2, Hayabusa, erm... Venera 3... it has to be said, when it comes to landing craft on celestial bodies and actually doing stuff, the USA i.e. NASA gets it right every time (ok, neeearly). Well, us Europeans did plop Huygens onto Titan's surface, but it didn't last long. Next time, could we just pay you guys to build it? Uh, while we're there, perhaps you could land it for us too. And make it do what we sent it there for.
Pity then that about 80% of the posters on digg are moronic AOL LOL!!!11 OMGWTFBBQ kiddies who lace their posts with casual swearing and rarely offer any of the insight normally seen on/. replies. First doesn't always mean best. Digg has a LONG way to go. Plus the non-numan intervention means that people can submit 5 year old articles on things like SSH tunnelling, and all the diggers (again demonstrating their intense tech backgrounds) mod it up like it's the most insightful thing they've seen this month.
Who in the non-geek phalanx would buy that? As the summary stated, one thing stopping Mr Average from using Linux is the installation issues. That's what Dell need to avoid. If they supply it on a disk, with NO support, the only audience who could understand would be power users - the kind of people who wouldn't buy Dell & would build their own anyway.
What's to stop Amazon just crediting people's account for the work they've done, without having to part with any of their oown funds? This labour's cheap alright. It could be free & no-one would know. I hope whatever regulators look after this are in position & doing their job.
Secure video path, anyone?
Easily configurable. You should try it. IE7 will probably fogget to put that option in.
Everyone's forgetting the number one reason why we recommend FF over IE to our family - security.
I can think of one downside - it's still using petrol (or gas).

Don't, you're absolutely right. I'm sure the guy who trawls through patents counting up who filed them is a hit with da laydeez too, the nut.

Cor, that feels great, I've always wanted to do that.
No WAY am I giving my phone number up to some shonky web form, even if it is Google.

wow, it's a brilliant theory, if a little complex - "but what if there were a million doors, and the gameshow host opened all but 2..."
The Xbox service isn't really an option. It's mandatory. Otherwise you just paid through the nose for an expensive DVD player.
Well yeah, they tried stomping them out, but they got into a whole heap of trouble over it.

Maybe my RHCE certification will land me a job now!
That's how they make their money, selling certifications to guys like you for jobs that don't exist.

Except that you're looking at the wrong comment. "But you are sentiment is correct". That's not right.
Obviously you want the moon on a stick, too.
