I had almost the exact thing happen to a friend I was helping.
His system was under warranty when the drive failed but he needed to recover some data on the drive that failed wasn't backed up. Apple would not give the back failed drive. So he ended up having to buy another just so he could send the broken one to Drivesavers. I still don't know what that did to his AppleCare extended warranty, I'm sure it voided it.
The Feds always drop the case or try and have it thrown out when they know they are going to lose. They do this so a legal precedent isn't set. The BATFE does this kind of thing all the time.
Until now I don't think I have anything in my contract that stipulates I have to use the phone supplied to me by my carrier so I can use my hacked CDMA phone. With this law I can see the carriers mandating in the contract that you can only use phoned supplied by them and then start turning of non-branded phones.

Maybe Apple didn't want to waste time/money to develop a product that no one wanted so they just used Motorola as a Guinea Pig.
Sure the encryption will work but you can kiss your laptop goodbye forever. I know people in the U.S. that have had non-illegal items confiscated and either never charged with anything or the charges dropped and have never had the items returned. The Federal Government simply says No, your not getting your property back take it up with our lawyers.
Lets air drop thousands of C64's, 2400 buad modems and AOL CDs into NK. Of course they are going to have figure out how to power them, find a phone line and then figure out how to get the C64 to read a CD but hey we can't do everything for them.

Ha, you think gun laws in Texas are almost non-existent. You obviously know very little about gun laws. You might want to call the BATFE and ask them about federal gun laws. Last time I checked federal gun laws applied to all states including Texas.
Thats the problem I have a constitutional right to own a gun, yes even a machine gun yet the BATFE won't stop harassing legal gun owners and no one wants to stand up and fight other then a couple corrupted lobbying groups. People stand around and say, guns who needs them, this kind of thing won't happen to me and the things I like to do. Well guess what, the BATFE is now going after the rocket hobbyists and the group is looking around say why isn't anyone standing up against the BATFE and its crazy interpretations of the law. Gun owners have been trying and no one gave a dam. Well its your turn now Mr. rocket man, call me 20 years when you get tired of fighting or when they ban civilian rocketry altogether and maybe we can compare notes.
As far as I'm concerned, that materiel should all be outlawed and anyone found with that materiel in any large quantity arrested and thrown into jail.

Why does someone NEED to build that kind of rocket. If the hobbyist can do it so can a Terrorist. If we can save just one life it will have been worth it.
If you/anyone can't monitor what your minor child does then maybe they shouldn't have had any in the first place. Its not everyone else's job to raise other peoples children or fix problems they cause. I would say until the child is no longer a minor the parents should have to take 100% of the responsibly for what they do.
What are you talking about? What Mac service packs? Apple has never charged for a service pack? Are you talking about new OS version, 10.1,10.2, etc? I really hope you are not calling those service packs. I'm sorry if Micosoft only releases a new OS every 8 years but to call Apples OS updates a service pack is down right stupid.
