He may now have a full 24 hours a day to dedicate to releasing the next version of ReiserFS;) Well, maybe 23, you've gotta spend a little time "dropping the soap".
Call me crazy, but perhaps MS doesn't include * drivers by default as an incentive for the masses to use the final build instead of Beta2. You kind of have to keep SOMETHING back... otherwise why would anyone buy it at all? They could all just use the free Beta2 copies...
Except those HP internet ready PC's ship with XP SP2 installed, and automatic updates enabled by default...

how about "communication with China"? Last I heard they're planning on being ipv6 only soon enough. I have a feeling the private sector will quickly scramble to enable ipv6 if that does in fact happen.
given their current engineering "success" revolves around what they could steal from other countries, I fear we aren't moving away from oil for a LONGGGGG time.
*most* of those wrongs were righted though. I see no end in sight for this one. Like the war on drugs, there will always be one more terrorist to "protect" us against.
... verizon isn't delivering ANYTHING close to their original promise. Uncapped, unadulterated 100mbit service is nothing like the port blocked, don't upload too much in a month POS they're currently providing. Sure, it's leaps and bounds above DSL... but that should not get them off the hook.
Well... if Microsoft's coders were convinced it was uncrackable with access to the source code... of course they think it's impossible for someone to do it without.
It isn't "wrong" when it helps them, it's "wrong" when it's bad for the general populace just to that the few can profit from it. Please refer to net neutrality for examples.
Obviously this site is charging universities for access, and they're using my work to earn their money. Where's my cut? I don't recall ever signing an agreement that their company could use my works for their own profit. Personally I think this calls for a class action lawsuit by all of us students who are wrongfully in their database.
I was thinking provide an external SATA connector so I can hook it up to an array... or even a second ethernet port. Gigabit ethernet into a NAS box sitting behind the TV would work.
Funny, here I thought MS solved that whole compatibility problem the myriad of Unixes had created at the time. I could've sworn it was a cost effective alternative that allowed the entire PC market to flourish by having compatibility across the board. Now you might say that it was a proprietary solution so it's bad, but I guess you just said that was OK didn't you...
"People" don't hate Microsoft, geek's do. Plenty of geek's hate apple too... I for one can tell you I'm sick of their BS itunes and DRM. And I can also tell you they were an immediate turnoff after the first 3 ipods I purchased all died within 2 weeks (1G ipods).
Contrary to popular belief, most of the working world loves Microsoft. Windows has been stable since 2k was released. Outlook and Office have always gotten the job done except in the most obscure cases. You're definitely viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, most people have no animosity whatsoever towards MS. They just know they make "teh windows".

I always wondered, how big of a PITA is it to do a "live update" from one release to the next with Ubuntu? Are you better off just re-installing from scratch or?

Really? So when the case is thrown out "in the name of national security", exactly what "rights" does he have?

I know plenty of neocons who call them just such a thing. I can point you to an entire forum full of them.

OpenBSD 4.0, now with more arrogance than ever!
Karma be damned!

Or perhaps it shows that the big boys know unless they have friendlies in office, they can't get away with abusing an outright monopoly.

apparently you misunderstood, I was referring to the french people looking out for their people's rights...
Funny, if MS had that you'd be screaming anti-competitive practice...

Really? And here I thought it just represented some government's that are *shock* looking out for their constituents right! THE HORROR!
Because she wasn't socially engineering her way into the cheif's daughters pants?
2) FreeBSD are pretty nimble at developing this kind of thing. I'm more curious to see how long it takes MS or Dell to have something comparable.
Exactly when did Dell start making operating systems?
Given that it's a national language I would guess never.
