So instead of bowing down and thanking the proprietary companies for letting me use thier software, I should instead bow down to some loony long hair who now decides to tell me what my code can be licensed under, and what software I can put on my machine?

That's a loaded question. RMS advocates free software under the GPL, but no one's forcing you to use it. Before you bash the GPL, though, I suggest you read a few proprietary EULAs. It should be an enlightening experience.

I agree that for once this tool really is a step in the right direction. Next time some mother sobs to the press about how she didn't know Grand Theft Auto was about stealing cars and wasn't for little kids, everyone can slap her and point to this software that would have done the job for idiots like her.

And then we can slap the public school system for not teaching her the meaning of the words "grand", "theft", and "auto".

While this is a cool idea, and something I've pondered myself (it would be very hard to make it work), I think you guys have been trolled.

There is some merit to the idea (or at least varients of it), though. What's to stop someone from buying an old aircraft carrier, refitting it, and declaring it a sovereign nation? It would probably be difficult to get large nations to recognize it, but that wouldn't necessarily be a problem.

Of course, I'm far from the first to have such an idea, but I haven't seen anyone else suggesting that such a vessel could or should be a sovereign nation. Maybe I'm just crazy. Crazy like a fox!

...and the problem I have is that some manufacturers make it impossible to deactivate the tags. For example, I've found that many phone boxes have the tag hidden somewhere in the center of the box, where our deactivation magnet cannot reach. GE even puts the tags inside the phone base stations. Digital cameras pose a similar problem (tag hidden inside battery compartment), but since the box contents aren't packed like a fucking jigsaw puzzle (as with phones), it's easy to remove the tag.

You also have the possibility of having kids and passing traits onto them before death, then being able to play the kid when your character dies. One of the possible death paths is growing old, based on actual play time.

It's not a MMO, or even a CRPG, but Hackmaster gives players that option. It also has rules for players to acquire proteges and sidekicks, either of which can take the PC's place if he/she bites the dust.
