There are many, many people who have secret and higher levels of clearance in the USA who were approved after disclosing struggles with serious depression.
My guess is that they were afraid she would be a burden on the USA health system with her condition. Obviously stupid considering that Canada has free health care.
You are foolish to assume I only made 9% this yr. I outperformed the market. I'm merely stating that low returns don't automatically mean conservative investment strategies.
Interesting...so does it follow that while this dead mans switch may protect him from the USA gov, it makes him a huge target for all other countries that want to see this data released?
There are plenty of big name stocks that have gone down or stagnated over the past 12 months. I own several of them. No need to assume someone is too conservative just because they don't match your gains.
These MacBook Pros hold their value surprisingly well. They're also rock solid on reliability. Just plan on replacing it with a new one every 2-3 yrs rather than 4-5 yrs and you will be fine.
what's the best way to motivate the yahoo mail team to improve their product? get a whole company of your peers to be irritated with the quality of your work and to offer constructive feedback.
temporarily forward your number to another debt collection agency. let them battle it out. let ur friends know to contact u via your cell in the interim.
my intuition tells me that disruptive technologies are precisely that because people don't anticipate them coming along nor do they anticipate the changes that will follow their introduction. not that people can't see disruptive tech ramping up, but often they don't.
Ok, let's set the record straight. These articles are totally misleading. It didn't take anywhere near $100M to develop this controller. What happened is that MSFT spent $100M on an R&D adventure to design, build, and evaluate many different types of controllers before deciding that the current design, with a few tweaks, is the best way forward. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's a good use of the their R&D dollars. I bet the actual dev costs for the controller were closer to $20M. And considering that it will probably generate at least $3B in revenue for MSFT, $20M is small potatoes. Nintendo, by comparison, spends billions on interface/controller R&D.
They are not looking for "enough" money to sip drinks at the beach. They are looking to ride the crazy train and steer it along for as long as they can...and selling out to a company at any amount takes them out of the driver seat. And if the shit really hits the fan and things take a dive, they'll still be able to off load their once $3B company for a couple hundred million which is certainly "enough" in failure mode.
Well, with 12 bullets in his body, it's no surprise they found him dead. Now if you had said they found him practicing shots on goal with 12 bullets in his body, now that would be surprising.
it seems wrong that such a site with a list of people to execute could exist. it brings the good old lynch mob in to the digital era. fun times. gov officials should not have to operate in fear of assassination.
yet. it is interesting that this is exactly what the us gov is doing with its enemies, building hit lists, ranking them, and executing.
Can't find online copies. Don't recall the name of the docs to search for. Copies of them are at the above museum. Definitely worth going if you're in Japan.
And the kinds of traits your talking about in an advanced computer - self-determination, intellectual autonomy, freedom - are the polar OPPOSITE of what the military wants in a drone. If Cyberdyne made a pitch to the Pentagon that started with "Our new T800 Killbots are able to learn, think and adapt", they wouldn't make it halfway through the first PowerPoint slide before getting politely asked to leave. Top brass don't even want regular grunts doing any of those things.
Well, that might be true wrt what they are currently fielding, but it's certainly not true wrt what they are actively researching and planning towards. In fact the capabilities you mention are what they are actively researching. Dynamic mission re-planning, dynamic target selection, learning through mistakes, inferring commander's intent, these are all being actively worked.
I've personally seen the declassified war documents written by the leaders of the DoD at the time.
Japan was on the verge of surrender before we bombed them. The USA knew this. It was a conditional surrender to USSR. The USA demanded an unconditional surrender to the USA, for strategic and practical reasons. The cold war was already ramping up. The USA President and War Secretary decided to drop the bombs to force this surrender.
You can read about all of the above in these docs. Copies of them are located at the Peace Museum in Hiroshima, Japan. There are copies in the USA as well.
The story we get feed by our teachers growing up in the USA is widely recognized as BS.
Our revolutionary fore fathers here the USA were criminals...but they weren't necessarily wrong. Kavorkian was a criminal for his assisted suicides, but now everyone is starting to do it. Getting a blow job in a dozen states in the USA makes you a criminal, pure and simple. don't try to make excuses for your crimes. Until 1969, letting a black man into a white establishment was a crime, pure and simple. Drinking alcohol made you a criminal in the US for awhile. In many parts of the world, it still does. Smoking up used to be totally fine in the US, but for the past 70-80 yrs suddenly you were a criminal for doing it....I could go on and on...
Being a criminal as defined by your society and your actions doesn't mean you should be locked away forever
Your black and white, unwavering statements showcase your limited ability to empathize or see the larger way in which the world works. It's just childish.
Actually I've personally seen at least 3 cars spontaneously catch fire while sitting in traffic or driving. No crash or impact or driving over anything required.
Blockbuster pushed out many of the independent video rental places. I wonder if some of them will make a come back, to fill what ever niche there will be for renting physical videos. Or maybe that niche just won't exist anymore.

It's inexcusable.

Really? I think Adams is spot on. There are the legal complexities of him killing these people, but I think he's morally in the right place.

i like the idea of a $50 plug and play box for tor, but how is this different than using a browser plugin? a serious question, not being rhetorical.
hopefully before they slash and burn all that the rest of us work hard to achieve...
one thing is clear about republicans, they'll back any strategy that fucks the people over...
