...While the 3d effect dawns on me 2 seconds after I wear the polarized glasses, my friend have a real hard time seeing it, this is NOT a perfect technology - I'd say it's not ready for the market yet.
Some people have reported dizziness after seeing 3D at the movies - this means liability, and you risk massive lawsuits if you publish this technology in it's early immature stages as it is now.
I'm much more inclined to like the 3D plasma screens shown 4-5 years ago, where you needed NO 3D glasses at all, but where kind of limited to certain angles (but be honest, how much do you need to move back & forth?) these worked very well, and you could move quite a bit in a chair, and the 3D effect where nothing less than stunning.
YouTube is headed for Commercialization hell (which is a very real place!) and that usually means:
- More restrictions - More censorship - More forced Ads - Less fun - Less freedom - Less randomness
The same reason GOOGLE was COOL - applies to services like YouTube, a place where you can search for - and find ANYTHING, as it becomes more and more commercialized, we'll see the increased restrictions on EVERYTHING, and YouTube will eventually just be another X-Factor/Americal-Idol & movie rental service, and ADVERTISING / Viral-videos outlet than the peoples no#1 info-video channel.
By the way, if every person in the world sends me 1 penny (just ONE penny) via paypal to me at ***lotsofburpspaypalaccount***, then I will be very happy.
If everyone sends ANYONE a penny via paypal - paypal will be happier than you.
The "Boxee" tries to load itself...takes 20 seconds or so...and then it just vanishes...just like a crashy piece of software that doesn't work...same way. Nivida drivers and OpenGL are working, because I run Blender (opengl) on it...and opengl games + wine...
When the internet became all too serious, you know...online markets becoming just like your next door store, and online places where you could meet - the government thought it was a good idea to make it mandatory to log everything you say and do, the internet was killed! The internet used to be a free place - where thoughts and information could flow freely - and it was up to each individual how they processed the data they found - pretty much like in books, but faster, and uncensored by the publishing companies - making the internet a raw - but fair place.
The right to privacy is all about freedom, you have the right to think, say and have an opinion about everything in your life, you have the right to write a diary - and for others to stay out of your business if you wish - but with the "law" getting into the internet - these rights are being gradually destroyed, basically because they're taking a too keen interest in this place (which is essentially your and mine diary fused together).
These religious fanatics are DANGEROUS, and this is evidence how hard they lobby to get their Islamic laws into practice, today Ireland - tomorrow the ENTIRE UK. If you don't face up to religion now, you'll have no vote in the end. Muslims are the fastest growing religion in the world, if you look at family numbers - the average muslim in eg. France, has 8 children per family, while the average european has 1.5. children per family. Where do YOU think this is going? They're islamists with a mission, Allah says they own the world, and anyone who disputes this are fair game.
The recognition software is looking for contrast spots, such as shadow from the nose, eye-sockets, and ultimately the head shape, if these criteria isn't met - then it has a problem.
It's the same with eg. Sony PS3's Playstation EYE - and eg. the new game EYEPET, you try that on at home against a dark floor, dark carpet, no matter how much light you put on, the pet won't react to you.
Same with me - I'm a white guy, and unfortunately my floor is sorta white colored (wood, flesh like...if you're slightly yellow in the skin, don't worry - bad indoor light WILL look pale yellowish);) Even with 200 watts of lighting - I had problems with my EYEPET and PS camera, it's virtually useless and incredibly annoying.
Trust me buddy, there's no difference with HP's camera software, the same stuff. Wait until MicroSofts Project NATAL comes out, then you're going to be pleased, it will reckognize ALL colors! Because it has an extra infrared camera!
You're kind of funny though;) You have a talent for talking on tv, not everybody have that gift, you do!
...You're as guilty - if not MUCH more - than they are here....
Quoting you: "Management often expects us to get a job done but refuse to provide funds for expensive lab equipment"
Well, have you considered it might be that you may not have informed the management from the start what's to be expected in the future? If there is ONE THING that the management does well and knows better than most of us - is how to EARN and KEEP money, they trust YOU to do your job and know everything about it so it doesn't have to be a future headache for them. If you FAILED to INFORM them of your possible needs in the beginning, you have yourself to blame buddy.
You're not alone though, I've been there myself...trying to convince my bosses why I need all that extra gear to keep it safe in the future - when everything has worked FINE so far.
..you know what? I'm one of those honest dufuses that actually purchase music, dvds, blu-rays and games legally, and have done so most of my life. Other than that - I use Open Source a lot, and basically all the alternatives to the commercial software.
But hearing about 3 strikes, and the HATRED and witch hunt on ordinary people all the time, makes me think - am I the only one thinking...soon I'm not going to give a f*ck and just pirate the hell out of them just because I can?
If they keep this up - I'm telling you...they're digging their own grave!
...thats the beauty of science, we're not limited to "have to", but more what we could do - "because we can".
In amateur science circles, we also used commercially available TV-tuners as spectrum analyzers, instead of purchasing a commercial test-instrument that cost up to a 100.000 dollars, it could be made to perform pretty close and pretty well with some external circuitry for a few hundred bucks, made it affordable for the radio-amateur, science amateurs, and science students everywhere.
Absolutely LOVE to see people use the resources like the Wiimote like that, excellent!
No newcomer on any marked really understand (without experience) the price tag for playing as a part of the game. Google is a giant, but not in every area, Nokia is a giant too, but as google..not in every area, they're both players in their own area of expertise - and the price for entering into each others pissing fields - could be very expensive, such as . eg. Microsoft experienced when they ventured into the area of console gaming.
,,,has far more energy than any woman can imagine!
and that should be "Dvorak"... damn autism...
That should be "Never"...damn dworak fingers
...newer brags ...you'll never know - ever.

... something to think about the next time you brag to your friends about your 300mW pocket laser pointer popping balloons & burning wood.
...and picture this:
Cop1: There he is, fire'er up!
Cop2: Steady....steeeaady.... BZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
Cop1: Damn, you missed, good going - now our battery is depleted, and the chase is over!

Oh well - it was fun as long as it lasted.
But you love your Commodore 64 ;)

It just crashes for me.

So for now...beta is indeed beta.
Why wait?
...is killing our freedom of speech.

Bring it on!
...magnifications that hollywood so much enjoy showing in their movies, can finally become true ;)
You know...in the movies where they zoom in a perfectly clear image out of 3 pixels ;)
