Bob Brookmeyer???? Was Sony afraid of the cadre of L33t h4xx0r d00dz pirating their catalog of elderly jazz trombonists?

The principles of writing clean software apply whether the program is 1 page or 100. There is *nothing* preventing the creation of large, maintainable programs in perl except the ignorance and/or laziness of the programmer.
You can write unstructured, ill-formatted, ill-documented slop in any language. A lot of people just think 'perl: quick and dirty solutions. Don't bother to use good craftmanship.' Guess what they end up with?
I've been a professional perl programmer for years, and I have no trouble understanding and maintaining my old code. Thousands and thousands of lines of code.
