what an immature neanderthal...
if the RIAA tried to sue me i would not bother signing any papers and not bother to show up at any court appearances because i can not take this seriously, fsck em - the RIAA/MPAA are a joke...
microsoft will wait till they are all cozy and comfortable with using Windows and one day put the squeeze on them for maxumum cash flow, then they will feel the pinch and wish they stuck it out with Linux...
stallman is a idealist whacko - but it is idealist whackos that sometimes get things done, they serve a purpose...
Linus is right - the Linux brand name must be protected, just take a look at distrowatch, all the distributions are under their own name with Linux as a second name or just part of the name, there are plenty of watchdogs to make sure of that...
i dont think Linus wants to prevent people from including Linux in their product, he just wants the name protected from crooks that would misuse the Linux trademark...
i would ignore microsoft and walk right past them like some stinking homeless beggar on the street...
anything microsoft touches turns to sh!t, just look at windows:p
about 10 years ago i got in to the business of asbestos abatement, (as a laborer) Tyvek suit and respirator with HEPA filters (the works). we got in to this old high school working all the steam pipes & hot water lines.
i don't know how the boss bid the job but he tried to keep us in there from 6AM to 10PM, 16 hours a day with just few breaks, i walked off and found a better job working with better working conditions before the day was over.
it is not that i did not want the money in overtime it is just that anyone would want to get out of those dank crawlspaces & tunnels, take off the suit & mask and get some fresh air & sunshine once in a while...
_TunnelRat;p
i totally agree, fsck the advertisers, they ruin everything, driving in the country i want to see nothing but woodlands and pastures not some funky billboards advertising of products i have no need of, and television is absolutly awfull anymore, i remember a 30 minute sitcom would have 5 to 7 commercials nowdays it is 25 to 30 of them taking up 50 % of my viewing time, anymore i just turn off the TV in disgust, just catch a local news & weather and thats it...
the harder the advertisers push - the harder i will push back with automatically deleting cookies and rejecting third party cookies...
RE:"You know, it's crazy giving cops tools like Microsoft Office or StarOffice in the first place. 99.99% of people who use word processors don't get past the part where you hit keys and watch text appear on the screen. Oh yeah, and open and save documents. That's all they ever do."
if that be the case they should all stick to just using notepad:P
i keep a 1 gig disk partition with Win98se for games and the occasional windows only app i need, but i disabled the network adapter in the Windows System config because i do not want or need windows to access the internet, i do not use windows very often anymore, i just stay booted in to Linux about 99% of the time...
Does Xerox build an Operating System for X86 or PPC? i did not see one offered at Xerox's website, i did notice the name of Novell on their website so they probably use Novell/SuSE, seems ok to me but i was just wondering why Xerox has not built a Linux distro of their own or a different OS all together, or are they just interested in copiers & printers.
there already is too much of a demand for Linux, either UEFI will accept Linux or some motherboard MFGer's will continue to produce mainboards with the old PC BIOS, i don't like the sound of UEFI and will probably go out of my way just to not purchase boards with it...
if i had some mod points i would mod parent UP ^
