  1. what does a matter? on Non-Programming Jobs For a Computer Science Major? · · Score: 1

Every job posting I look at in the IT field usually says a 4 year degree in MIS or CS or ENG, doesn't care which. Only programing jobs usually specify, and then real world exp. plays more than a four year info regurgitation certificate does.

  16. Buffalo Terastation on Best Home Network NAS · · Score: 1

I love my Buffalo Terastaion. I got it to backup my file collection going back about 15 years that's made the trudge from system to system. I like that I don't have to worry if my motherboard dies and the raid controller changes, it doesn't care what OS I use, etc. About a year and a half ago I paid 700 for a 1tb version, they have cheaper versions, and the price has come down. If you look at tigerdirect or other sites that send me crappy magazines, you can find generic nas raid enclosures for under 400, just with no hdd's, but I like Buffalo.

  17. Common Sense Diet on The Obesity Epidemic — Is Medicine Scientific? · · Score: 1

I started drinking my gallon or more of water per day, lost 5 lbs in a week. Ended up getting used to it and now only drink water, nothing else, feels good aside from going to the bathroom as many times a day as my grandfather. Stopped eating junk food, went low fat, traded out carbs for protien, and of course added an exercise regiment, and I magically dropped 60 lbs. Some foods my body can process better than others, but it's common sense for the most part what is junk and what isn't. Sure you may get too many carbs or natural sugars eating healthy, but compared to fats and empty calories from junk? If common sense was that common, everyone would have it, problem is it's too easy to be lazy, and most people aren't willing to change diets to something healthy, and adapt to a lack of McDonnalds. I'm still overwieght a bit, and when I eat fast food instead of cooking (you can eat healthy and still eat fast, just have to find the right types of food, and it can be just as cheap), or skip going to the gym, I can look at my spare tire and it's no mystery. There are a million little tricks, like take the same amount of food from three healthy courses, and split it up to 6 smaller / spaced meals, and you'll loose more weight, but the end result is still to burn more than you take in, just as stated in almost every post before me.

  18. My two cents on Japan to Start Fingerprinting Foreign Travelers · · Score: 1

I wanted to visit Japan, but now I think I'll pass. I realize the irony in the fact that my country does the same to others, and I've been fingerprinted for my job, the DMV, and my CHL. If this were a preventative for terrorism I could understand, but what good is having a suicide bomber's fingerprints after the fact? I don't even worry much about security these days, odds are in my lifetime my credit card numbers will be leaked or stolen, everyone has my SSN number, even my cable company, doesn't even seem like a secret any more, so what difference does fingerprinting make? Don't expect much to change, but I'll at least my my stand here, and punish Japan by denying them my money and presence, but I think they will recover.
