  1. Not a waste of research on Stem Cell Fraudster May Have Actually Made Breakthrough · · Score: 5, Insightful

The whole lying about the accomplishment aside, I've always said that even if you don't find what you're looking for, humanity is better off for knowing all the other ways of not accomplishing that task vs. no research done at all.

  2. Still wonder about TV shows on Broadcasters Want Cash For Media Shared At Home · · Score: 1

I have two DVRs, one windows, one linux, and I still usually just download TV shows I wasn't home to watch. I've always wondered about the legality of it, since I have the ability, and the show is broadcast on free channels, does it matter if I record it or someone else? I know the broadcasters stance, I didn't watch the commercials, so they want more money than they already got for the advertising revenues...

Just keep thinking of those adds before movies of how downloading hurts the little guys, carpenters, etc, while hollywood still somehow managers to pay more per day than I make in a year to the actors, execs, etc.

once works no longer has cost, will dell lower the prices of the machines? I'm guessing they had to pay some sort of fee for works, even if only a few bucks.

And i will works had it's uses. More people have it then most think, since it's loaded crapware and they don't have anything better. I'm willing to be more junior high reports get in on works than anything else, shame the schools don't hand out open office cd's... now there's a thought, start a foundation to provide open office cd's to schools for free, they hand them out the students = market proliferation. OO may not be 100%, but to push FOSS, i'd donate to a charity or foundation. Would be pretty easy to setup a foundation now that I think about it, only cost would be a website , cd manufacturing and shipping, could use paypal and once you hit X amount of cash, place an order to have the CD's made, ship to school districts.

Course something else that didn't come to mind. Judge may decide to throw the case out, but by pressing charges and making an issue of it, the theater is waisting tax payer money for a court hearing.

  7. Re:Devil's advocate on A Year In Prison For a 20-Second Film Clip? · · Score: 4, Insightful

"If videotaping in a movie theater is illegal, and if that is what occurred in this instance - and indeed, the person in question admits just that - then why is this acceptable? Why should the theater decide between "good and bad stealing"? Isn't that for a judge and jury to decide?" The judge and jury do decide, all the theater gets to decide is if they want to press charges or not. Pretty much agree with everything else in the whole 'in a perfect world' sense. Course I think most people see the maximum fine and think the worst, doesn't mean the judge will give than, more often than not they don't, they may just issue a court order forbiding that person to ever bring a recording device on that theater's property again... there goes your camera phone.

seriously tho. All I want to know on the subject i've already read here and other sites. People most comfortable with downloading movies using torrents have better movies to get and I would guess aren't that interested. Only thing I would even be remotely interested in is some of the qoutes from the mpaa guy just to see one individual's scewed opinions, but I'd rather have it in text format.

I'd love to win an office with no illusion of being re-elected, so that I could do what I felt was right vs. what I felt would get be re-elected via large contributions to afford the advertising.

I didn't RTFA, but is there an option to make the onboard flash read only? Would love one for my mom, put M$ 2000 on it so she can run her school software, and use the SD memory for swap, temp profile settings, etc. Would be great, and every time she reboots no viruses, malware, or other crap, she never installs anything anyway. As far as an M$ killer goes, I didn't see any comments mentioning it being carried by a major retailer with actual storefront. ASUS has always been pretty high on my list, but until it's in walmart, bestbuy, CC, officedepot, etc, it won't get that wide of coverage. Just agreeing with other comments, a larger screen would be nicer, maybe go up to to 14" and as stated in earlier posts, use the extra space for a larger keyboard, and enclosed bays to store thumb drives, larger usb devices like tv tuners, audio decoders, etc. Yes, I will either paint or buy a tux key. Every TV I buy these days as analog monitor inputs, I'm getting one the bedroom, I'd been thinking of a water cooling system for the machine in there, but this would be soo much better. Just my two coppers, now hand me my vorpal sword, i've work to do in the server room.

I play FPS to shoot stuff and see great graphics while doing it, plot is optional... less plot, the better the engine / graphics better be, likewise the better the plot the more I can ignore from crappy graphics and gameplay, but seriously, what kind of plot can you expect from a 3d choose your own adventure shoot'em up?
