Well obviously you didn't hear about the guy who killed 2 jews after playing Wolfenstein 3D (it was in 1996 in Germany, IIRC.) IMHO this kind of problems always existed and always will and is not specific to video games at all.
All I know is : my machines don't answer to pings anymore. Whatever I do (add rules to allow icmp or disable the firewall completely), it just doesn't work anymore.
Thanks for the lesson. Now go and read the jargon files and learn why some words have fancy spellings or plurals. It's not "correct english", but nobody (except you aparently) thinks slashdot is the place for "correct english".
