I want an operating system that's not running surveillance on me. There is this thing we like to call OpenBSD, give it a shot.
I want a car that has better gas mileage than a 1975 Honda. We got these, see half the time your car would be frozen so you can't use it, really cuts down on the yearly mileage.
I want a health care system that won't send me into bankruptcy if I get sick. It doesn't bankrupt you if you get sick, it bankrupts yous all the time, if you happen to get sick, it will mostly cure you!
I want a news media that doesn't just pass along presidential press releases as God's own truth. No president, we have a Prime Minister!
I want a President that has better than C- average and who cares about more than cutting taxes for the rich and not admitting he's wrong. Weren't you paying attention? I said we don't have a President, we have a Prime Minister
I want a country that doesn't believe that half the population is the enemy. But girls have cooties!!....er.... I think that's just me......Have you seen our army? We are in no position to have an enemy!
40 days for a classroom disruption? What the hell are they thinking? Back when I was in high school, we just got yelled at by the teacher, at worst sent to the principal. Maybe in the most extreme situation you'd get a week, but 40 days?
Not sure if this is the same in the US, but here you can get your name taken off call lists or fax lists, but then the company would "buy" a new list 3 months later and you're on it again, and there is nothing you can do about it.
First off: IANAL - take the following with a grain of salt.
I'm assuming that you have some sort of tv cable package, AFAIK part of this costs goes to the stations for royalties. Therefore you have paid something, (micropayment??) to watch TV. If you had taped it and just fastforwarded through the commericals, I don't think that there would be anything wrong with it. If your TIVO/Digital VCR recorded it for you and again, you didn't watch commercials, then I don't think there is anything wrong. If your only TV is your computer & a TV tuner card (as with me), you "record" it to your HD and don't watch commericals, I don't think there is anything wrong.
It all comes down to the fact that you paid your cable bill to watch TV and that by paying this bill you have some fair use/fair play rights associated with it, ie somehow recording the show and skipping commericals.
However if you don't have a subscription to TV and you're just downloading so you may watch your shows without paying the TV bill, then I believe that's against the law.
IIRC North Korea was one of the countries on the Axis of Evil, so was Iraq (invaded) so was Iran (taking steps towards) and North Korea is going to think it's safe?!?!?
What do I know I'm a canuck who doesn't follow US politics that much.
you can't get the original brand new anymore. Check ebay for the VHS. In many interviews, the "fucked" versions are what George wanted the movie to be, but couldn't do it given the time/money constraints.
550 watts ! Kewl - this really will be able to make my coffee and bake my pizza too then. I need never leave the screen. Remember what goes in must come out!
That's the person who copies it, whoever writes the software that copies it (whether p2p, ftp, samba, http), the person who pays for net access, the person who owns the phoneline or cable connection, the ISP, the ISPs between ISPs, the receiving ISP, and all those people again on the receiving end.
What about the person who created the music in the first place? If it's good, then it will be copied. Should the artists also be included in the list?
When I was going to school, the Sys Admin had a special enviornment setup on the Solaris server, that had very minimal tools. We would use a thin client to get access (new accounts too) to the resources to do the exam. The exams were 4 hours and we did not have any previous time with the enviornment. Worked good, if you spent any time trying to find ways around the system, you just ate into the exam time.
I agree. Microsoft pays my bills. And since I've pulled out all my hair, I don't have to worry about hair cuts, I get to spend that 1/2 hour/month reading MSDN magazine! Also, they helped provide me with this nice padded room, the walls are soft and squishy. Really nice.
I have no problems with non-free software as long as it is well written and useful. It just happens to be that most of the software that I use that "doesn't suck" is free
I'm just wondering out loud here.
In the past, it has been argued that even MS doesn't fully understand the code to Windows, so how will somebody who is just starting to look at this determine what is happening?
data dump?
Come to Canada, we have all this stuff

Where does it end?
Where did I leave my tinfoil hat?
NT For Alpha wasn't really 64 bit, it made high use of a 32-64bit emulator.

What I'm looking for is simple.

It just happens to be that most of the software that I use that "doesn't suck" is free
