I'm a EE senior specializing in controls and also working for a small scale home automation company. My senior design project is a built from scratch auomation system offering wireless light control, temperature control, and media (IR) control. It will also provide energy monitoring.
The fun part about the project is coming up with ways to intereact with the system. I want to make it as scalable and expandable as possible, allowing any hobbyist to add functionality as they choose. How would you readers like to interact with your house? Voice seems simplest and the least messy, but what creative ways would you enjoy interacting with your home?
Because the breakthrough probably comes on the heels of some kind of grant which in one way or another the public pays for, and thus the public would like to know what they're spending money on.
So he is upset because he's not with it, as all 14 year old girls are.. solely because they talk on their cell phones to all of their other teen friends and waste time by IMing? I'm 20. I use my cell phone as my main means of communication but probably dont talk on it more than 2 hours a month. I use IM to stay updated at work and check homework for school..
If he were clever he'd stop complaining and start capitalizing on stupid teen trends.
I'm no Nintendo Fanboy, and was at first extremely skeptical, but take some time to read reviews, watch the video, and imagine the possibilities.
Engadget has some more information here and IGN has looked at some of the possibilities for each type of game here.. As some parent post said, a mass amount of instant unchecked emotion flaming is about to come, but before you post, take some time to think about the possibilities.
Maybe I'm missing something, but who exactly is it that is slobbering over variable transparancy windows, and flipping backside notation stuff?
OSX users?
Oops off by 10mph. 43mph sounds more realistic. Yeah, we're (UT) are in the Stock class as we didn't get all our funding until we'd already bought our solar cells. I think the battery restriction has been lifted this year.
Also, although some cars could get up to 80 (it all really depends on the motor and the amount of $$$ you have), you couldn't maintain that speed. The batteries would be sucked dry pretty quickly, so the stratedge of when to go faster and when to go what speed at what time is a big factor. I believe the winning car last time had an average speed of something like 53mph. As a side note, there are two classes, open and stock. I believe open has no limit on money and types of supplies and so forth, and stock limits the money for teams that can't afford to race in the open classification.

With comments like that you can't be taken seriously. If you actually ever sat down and used excel to its full potential you would find that it has some incredible features. I use it everyday, and no, it has never once crashed. And yes, some times I do want to scream, hell yea this is awesome. The Microsoft bashing is getting to be a little excessive. Everyone else doing it doesn't make it cool or right. Get a grip.
Ha! Sure DVDs, CDs, multiple hard drives, the web and so forth may be 'convenient', something will surely happen eventually. The answer is to go back in time, back before transistors, back before magnetic tape! I'm talking flip flops made out of relays. Buy a bajillion relays, and bit by bit, transfer all of your music on to them. Use some early form of error checking to ensure you will still have it should one or two die.
That or go buy some punch cards or write the song down bit by bit and write them back again later.
I find if funny that google-friends was hosted as a Yahoo! Group first... then "moved to Google" as seen when you click the "archive" http://groups.yahoo.com/group/google-friends/ on the "We've moved" link.

Gmail -> Settings -> Webclips -> Remove the check from the "Show my web clips from above the inbox" checkbox. Done.
Maybe you should do some reading on a little known equation called Fermat's Last Theorem.

You can. It's called the Laplace transform.
Integration = division by s.
Differentiation = multiply by s.
July 11th.. Evidence
Didn't it turn 40 like 3 months ago.. in July?

Google Talk is also now integrated into Google Sidebar.. Select Add/Remove panels from the sidebar menu and add Google Talk.
I'm connected via GAIM, but unable to add any buddies, or get anyone to be able to add me...
