  1. Automation Interaction? on What Would Be Your Ideal Futuristic Home? · · Score: 2, Interesting

I'm a EE senior specializing in controls and also working for a small scale home automation company. My senior design project is a built from scratch auomation system offering wireless light control, temperature control, and media (IR) control. It will also provide energy monitoring.

The fun part about the project is coming up with ways to intereact with the system. I want to make it as scalable and expandable as possible, allowing any hobbyist to add functionality as they choose. How would you readers like to interact with your house? Voice seems simplest and the least messy, but what creative ways would you enjoy interacting with your home?

So he is upset because he's not with it, as all 14 year old girls are.. solely because they talk on their cell phones to all of their other teen friends and waste time by IMing? I'm 20. I use my cell phone as my main means of communication but probably dont talk on it more than 2 hours a month. I use IM to stay updated at work and check homework for school..

If he were clever he'd stop complaining and start capitalizing on stupid teen trends.

  15. Re:speed limits, safety? on Solar-Powered Cars Race fron Austin to Calgary · · Score: 1

Also, although some cars could get up to 80 (it all really depends on the motor and the amount of $$$ you have), you couldn't maintain that speed. The batteries would be sucked dry pretty quickly, so the stratedge of when to go faster and when to go what speed at what time is a big factor. I believe the winning car last time had an average speed of something like 53mph. As a side note, there are two classes, open and stock. I believe open has no limit on money and types of supplies and so forth, and stock limits the money for teams that can't afford to race in the open classification.

Buy a bajillion relays, and bit by bit, transfer all of your music on to them. Use some early form of error checking to ensure you will still have it should one or two die.

That or go buy some punch cards or write the song down bit by bit and write them back again later.
