This is sick. This is a terrible misuse of the internet. People installing this sort of software on other peoples' computers should be shot on sight - or connection. There needs to be a removal of the incentive for them - such as cutting the money they would receive down to almost nothing.
Why don't we install a camera in his house, wait for him to do something embarrassing, like fucking his wife or whatever, and then post that on the web. Find out what his opinion is then.
Last.fm is great. Especially when you leave the same album, with only 12-13 tracks, running for days on end. It's fun!
seriously, I think Last.fm has a serious advantage, mostly because there's plug-ins for Linux media players. Heck, amaroK has built in support for it. So, until Pandora has that kind of 'market share' Last.fm will be way better, at least in my eyes.
Agreed. Unfortunately, nobody has been able to figure out how to access my machine from the outside world. It would be nice, as it's a royal pain in the ass to ftp EVERYTHING to the server a friend lets me use to host it. It's only a small site, so even on the low bandwidth (~60K up) connection i have, it would work fairly well. Plus, I wouldn't have to worry about nagging my friend to get stuff setup (like ftp and postgreSQL).
Once i get this going, it's GOING to go on a more powerful server with more bandwidth. But until then, a 'personal' server with relatively low bandwidth will suffice.
You have no idea how right you are.
The local school district here is seriously thinking about dropping all the AP and CP courses and putting everyone into what is essentially an applied class, minus the applied moniker. They say that they want to save money, but in all reality, they should have done that before they decided to build a new elementary (when we already have several in town that are
I have a theory. No society can ever be totally equal without destroying itself. Such a society will require that everyone sink to the level of the lowest common denominator. Not a pretty picture, but what the US is headed for if it doesn't drop this bullshit.
oh, guess i better take the music I'VE made (which is free and legally distributable) out of there too, because i guess I (the owner of said music) have broken the law, too.

Watch. Now somebody from /.'s going to do that, and geeks from around the world will buy their windows and doors from that company.
So did I. Although, you must admit, i'm sure that GM could certainly do better by charging 15 bucks a months to drive.

I have the sudden urge to vomit on my playstation. And my girlfriend's playstation 2. And my friend's psp...
I've been waiting for a reference to dick cheney...
I wonder how hard it would be to emulate the necessary hardware.
I think they would charge per-attempt.
I use a tablet (wacom) and it's a LOT more comfortable than a mouse... It's the same idea as this, except it's held like a pen...
i think this is THE best comment so far. The author has a point. Are you miserable, or just indifferent because you're not being challenged?
Hell, I'm almost 17 and i face the same damned problem... >.>
Damn you, lack of mod points! Damn you I say!
+X funny
where x is any number from 1000000000 to infinity
Why can't they just keep up with the car to begin with?
I mean, it's a cool idea and all, but chance are the cost makes it very impractical. Besides, why should the police get all the fun toys?
file-sharing over an abacus network? "move this over this many units, then..."
because those copies of Battlefield two are OBVIOUSLY teaching the terrorists how to ... terrorize... more effectively

So... Steve Jobs > God? That's wonderful. I've been looking for a technology idol to worship. thanks.

I thought the 21st century meant making it web-based? Really, who uses this archaic C++ anymore? Geez...
advance wars isn't an rts. it's turn based.
double the number of cores? me thinks not. If that was the case, we'd have 32-core processors bye now -- which, needless to say, we don't.

WEll, plants complain too! They just do it by turning brown.
