This is a huge problem in Gainesville Florida. I've seen people blatantly run red lights several seconds after the fact. It's an issue because everybody doesn't want to wait, as traffic backs up for miles due to poor city planning.

Maybe that's a good thing, since in my experience, 99% of proxy servers log usernames and passwords. I used one from proxy4free.com to get into Yahoo messenger from Quakecon (which was blocking those ports) and within 5 minutes, I got the "you have been logged off because you logged in at another terminal" message. Lucky for me, I was able to change my yahoo password before they did, but it only confirms that I have no skill at finding free, trustable proxies with Google. The proxy operators can start hacking the Myspace accounts into oblivion once the kids use them.

Of course, it's way easier to correctly sleep when you only have to code your OS for 1/10th the hardware available in the PC market, half of which doesn't even follow industry standards! It's not that the Mac handles sleep better than a PC. It's that the OS has a rigid acceptance program which ensures the hardware and firmware does what it's supposed to do. Microsoft, on the other hand, seems wont to slap a sticker on anything, so long as you pay them 20 bucks. P.S. I base my above troll entirely on the MSDN "Ready for XP" sticker scam.

This is a bit old now but I seem to remember a case where the mother or grandmother was sued successfully(?) by the RIAA for being the owner of a computer and failing to be responsible for who was using it and what they were using it for, which, if it did go in favor of the RIAA, would have set a legal precedent against just such a claim of innocence.
