The performance difference between nVidia and AMD hasn't been so dissimilar, but AMD's drivers have not been great for 3D applications other than games. For design-work, this matters.
I am becoming increasingly disenchanted with nVidia's business practices, lately. For instance, there is no reason why they couldn't include the raytracing on older video cards, such as the GTX 1080 and GTX 1080ti, which are well fast enough to support it on some level, though, few games are supporting it.
Let me guess. You are designing a brand new candy-bar cellphone--right?
For years, I've wanted a new cellphone with a physical keyboard. I hate Apple's closedness, and Android's UI sloppiness. I like being able to plug a USB drive into my phone. Curved screens are impractical. Replaceable MicroSDs and removable batteries rock my cellphone word. We don't need 5 crappy cameras--only one good one. Battery life rules the business world.
I am not a big Android fan or even a fan of the cell-phone market, but I am a Android phone owner. As an owner of a phone, I hate when the company that is supposed to stand behind it--doesn't. We don't need to have so many stupid me-too modifications that they can't be updated. Having only one world, we can't afford to think of cellphones as being disposable.
I guess that when you make a lot of processors, one of them has to be overclock-able. With a 255-watt power draw, you know it's overvolted and overclocked.
I've encountered docker with OpenFoam. For the user, it's a mess.
In the setup I experimented with, it used virtualization, so right out of the gate, 10% the performance is gone, in electricity and wasted heat.
Docker is an ugly, ugly attempt at cross-platform.
I great computing achievement that raises the bar of illusion higher over a person's head....requiring them to use even more sophisticated solutions to try to reach it.
I don't agree with making a cellphone mandatory for shopping, but people have to make receipts that are safe for handing and disposal.
I've lost too many people to cancer to disregard its causes.
As someone who has aimed a laser at a CMOS sensor for hours at a time, I would want to check to make sure the laser might be over the legal limit.
Laser Shined at CMOS sensor, for hours.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
I have seen videos of laser strikes ruin sensor, but often at laser light shows, which might also be over the legal limit.
The ability to authorized an operating system is clearly a national security risk. Once a operating system is paid for, there should be not allowed way to deauthorize--else or enemies will surly take advantage of it.
Additionally, this happened with the last update on my machine; is Microsoft testing rolling operating system blackouts?
I like the price-point and the processor speed, but when there's current issues--even driving optocouplers, it takes the fun away from it. Adruinos are hearty. I think that I have only ever blown a single pin, on any of the ones I have, in years of use. I am not so sure why they don't put more RAM on them, either.
I wonder how the SE would have done against the new $1000 phones.
With the end of More's law, I also wonder if the environment is worth more than Appple's bottom line.
I am not making excuses for Huawei, and we shouldn't make them for Microsoft, either.
A few months ago, my computer was one of the many that de-authorized by Microsoft because of the bug in their servers, only for a day, but Windows 10 appears to have a kill switch.
Just because a few selfish board-members rammed one of their agents into the FCC, it does mean that one of humanity's greatest inventions has to be corrupted and sold to the highest bidder.
Does this mean that you take a position against CFD and FEM for Julia?
Saddly, Feel++ appears married to docker. I hate docker on Windows. From the get-go, 10% of the computing power goes up in heat. That's not the solution I am lookng for.
At first glance, Fluidity appears to be young, and academic-oriented CFD, but I will keep an eye on it.
As a Code Aster user, don't make me throw a malliage over you : )
I hate the whole Ap software culture, where what a web browser can do has been split into 1,000 diferent programs. I hate the Android every permission culture. I hate the Apple no-strange-flash-card-before me thing. I hate curve screens that cannot be protected. I hate facial scanning. I hate the lack of smartphone keyboards. And at least if you could get cellphone enabled tablets here in the U.S., then it would be more useful, where allowed.
I love cats, but it would be nice if people got some help around here, too.
A Raspberry Pi would be so compelling if it had 4GB Ram, and it's ports were 5v, and as durable as an Arduino.

Hate is such a strong word, yet needs a helping adverb, such as "FN hate."

In the end, Netflix will have only one movie--in a thousand categories.

Aren't people's lives tracked enough, already? When they want you, they are going to get you.

We have people going hungry right here.
Let us study this train for a few years.

During the 1990s, the street price for a CD nearly doubled.
It would have been interesting if they came out with a DVD density, credit-card sized CD, with 24bit/96khz uncompressed sound quality.
I wonder how the SE would have done against the new $1000 phones.

A Firefox to-do list....
Firefox is going to hell in a hen-basket. Perhaps it's time for a major exodus and fork.

Fight to save the internet!
