This doesn't seem to me to be too hard to implement. When you sign up, they ask you where you live, and they change a setting in your software so that when YOU dial 911, it goes to emergency line near YOU. Doesn't seem like a extremely hard thing to take care of?
Actually, until I was reading these comments, I was unaware that Walmart edits the DVD's they sell. I knew they edited the cd's, which is extraordinarily rude. I never have understood why they don't put a big label on the cd's explaining that they have taken liberties with the content and they are not selling the original. I'm actually kindof mad about this, as I bought like 10 DVD's for Christmas presents last year at Wal-Mart, I had no idea I was giving my friends and family a wacked out "Wal-mart special". Wal-mart will be hearing from me about this!
Indeed, but it is useful as a language in other ways too. I used to make some pretty screensavers in it, and I'm sure you could find other uses for it too. It is a good learning language, but I don't know if you could go to the local BBS and download useful libraries anymore. Was hard to find them, even 10 years ago, but they were there, at least then. Why not just require a class, like "Majority religion/philosophy-science indocrination". I was driving through a heavy downpour on my
way home from work tonight, and it stopped raining about 2 miles east of my home, and on the last stretch, I noticed some very cool clouds. I looked up, and they were right above me! Dozens of droopy boob clouds!:) Very cool!
I had bookmarked this site a few weeks ago
and glad I did, now. The boobie clouds I saw
were a little more defined than the ones in the pictures here, but not as pretty with sunset.
I guess they are called Mammatus clouds.
As an aside, the last time I remember seeing these clouds was when I heard about tornadoes likely about 100 miles to the NorthEast, and the fact that the entire east side of the sky was a heck of a cloud system. So I hit the road, drove past the tornado about 5 miles away (found the hail though!) and about 20 miles later I got to where they had predicted the tornado..but instead I got to see these awesome boobie clouds. Much better than the ones I saw tonight or in the pictures on that page. Perfect, droopy, half-spheres everywhere. Was cool:)
Hmm why don't people just log onto a mud, instead of shelling out so much money for Everquest. I realize that it's graphic goodness and addictive, but there are dozens of quality muds out there, some of which I will assert are much better than Everquest. Plus the 11-13 year old guys who have nothing better than kick your ass and make fun of you tend to get weeded out on a well designed mud, and they usually are free so their parents won't be paying for their priviledge of kicking your ass!:) I don't recommend Godwars, but most muds are a lot of fun, just no graphics.
Look I can go out in the street and distribute pamphlets talking shit on the US government all I want to. As long as I dont go extremist and advocate violence and just talk about the facts, I am completely in my rights to annoy anyone I want to about how I feel about the wrongs in our government. That is completely legal in China? If I was a Chinese citizen I could go out and advocate stuff that the government doesn't like?
Sure, I can't smoke pot and if I was gay I wouldn't be able to get married, but by and large you need to do some fact checking before you even think about saying that China is better than the USA for civil rights. I'd qualify you as knowing what you are doing, being that you have VMware and running 2 os's etc.:) It's great that you have had such great luck with windows. I'll be honest with you, I run Gentoo and one of the reasons I enjoy it so much is things go wrong, I can fix them myself. Do a little searching, do a little digging, do a little playing around, and get things fixed, if not today, then soon. I'm not dependent on Microsoft, yet I'm not claiming the distro of Linux I'm using is perfect. I don't know much about Fedora, although I will tell you that when I tried Redhat 5 years ago there was enough stuff to annoy me to try other distros.
Now I am pretty much locked into Gentoo, like a crack-addict. But I do know there are dozens of Linux distros. Hey, XP may be the best for you, but I would encourage you to try some other distros. That being said, I doubt you will find any where everything works right, all the time. I've found that Gentoo works better in some ways than the big please-everyone distros in some ways because there is a lot less customization, in some ways. In other ways, there is more work for me to get things just like I want them...but I enjoy learning.
I have always enjoyed SuSE, although there are things about it - after getting used to Gentoo - that keep me from using it for long, and some of my friends like Mandrake a lot.
But if you want to use XP you will probably be happy with it:) I think I made it clear why I won't ever use it:) Besides Gentoo really is like crack. It just works so well for what I need. Plus it never has whacked out my hard drive, deliberitately and nefariously!!!!
The disk controller problem you are relating sounds kinda like a show-stopper. But even if windows was rock-solid stable all the time and everything worked all the time...I can gaurantee you there would be things that would annoy me like crazy. Microsoft simply destroyed any trust or like I ever had for them.
XP very well may be the best option for you. I am glad that you've had better luck than I did:)

Well, he may be on to something. The last time I ever installed (tried to install) a version of windows, it asked me if I want to install windows to my "main hard drive". I had a 2 gig hd as primary and a 40 gig hd as slave. Now, as you have insinuated, using win98, I was very used to reinstalling it a lot. Every time before that, I had physically unplugged my data hard drive from my computer, and installed windows, then later I plugged my data hard drive back in. This time I didn't, I was stupid hasty. Well instead of installing to my "main hard drive", windows left my 2 gig primary hard drive along, and repartitioned my 40 gig secondary hard drive as a single 2 gig partition, with windows on it.
I had had all my computers and everything stolen about 4 months earlier, and having a piece of Microsoft software delete (steal) all my data I had collected since then...was like getting kicked in the balls.
I just relate this to you that what the original poster suggested wasn't such a bad idea. If Microsoft is going to be charging hundreds of dollars for their software (which I've declined to use for almost 5 years now, no thank you), then it would be in their best interest to try to get rid of bugs.
Also I have a lot of friends who use Win XP, and at first they always claim what you say, "never crashes, never locks up, works great" but after a while they let slip a lot of the b.s. they have to deal with. That being said if you know what you are doing and take care of your computer XP probably would be great, but not for average Joe Newbie... I have no reason to think you are not telling the complete truth, just letting you know my opinion:)
So when the radio talk show host says that never before in the last 200 years has this happened.... yet Republicans blocked 17 of Clinton's nominations.... Bush has had what 37? Democrats have blocked like 10? So now it is a huge deal and Republicans have to go crazy and it is a RELIGIOUS matter and take back the power because they are getting mistreated so much? Ya these 7 judges need to be debated. If not..... at the very least..... your fanboy radio show hosts need to point out that Republicans blocked 17 of Clinton's appointments, versus the 10 or 11 that that are getting so worked up about. Even though I disagree with many many things Democrats say I hope that after Republicans do this....it SERIOUSLY comes back to bite them in the ass...although it hurts ALL of us to do so:(

Yet in the last week whenever I go to google news it ends up I see an article about "Microsoft will totally make the 64 bit computing market useful now". Yay! Yay for microsoft, and I'm sure it was completely correct. It is just crap, in my opinion, that the same news sources weren't publicizing the free alternatives 2 years ago. Like I believe anything Microsoft says since Win98 installer said "About to install Windows on your main hard drive..Yes, No". "yes". So I end up with windows installed on a fresh new 2 gig partition on my 40 gig secondary drive, while my 2 gig primary hard drive is left completely alone. Ya I have reason to believe ANY THING that MS says. Come on....... PDF has been around for years. This is just Microsoft trying to shove their weight around. There are open source PDF readers/writers everywhere.

OK it may be good, but in my humble opinion...

I'm trying to think of Japanese RPG's to refute you, but so far I can only really name one, so you must be on to something. World Court Tennis for Turbographix is perhaps something of an exeption. For the most part it is just a generic early 90's Japanese RPG, except for the fact that in random battles you go to a tennis match (and it is actually a pretty good tennis game) and battle it out to win the match of tennis! You buy better rackets and stuff instead of better weapons and armor...and ultimitely you are trying to defeat the evil tennis king!:) A SERIOUSLY solid video game.
