Building a prosthetic limb is the easy bit in a way, the realy hard work is allowing the user to controll it in a natural way by nerv induction aswell as relay the touch feeling and providing the arm with enough power to last the day.
Ultimately replacement limbs should be better that the originals and this is a fantastic step in the right direction.
In a coding comp. it is unfair to fight different styles agains each others in the same way that F1, monster truck and rally cars rarely compete. So here are the 3 groups I want: Text Book Class The code should be well laid out, commented, structured, follow and approved methodology and have full documentation. Freestyle This is how you code at home and only has occasional comments, there are a few messy bits and losely follows a methodology, documentation optional. Real World Work Place (RWWP) There is a design document but it bare little or and resemblence to the finished product and cyrptic comments. At random intervals the edjudicators will randomly change the specification and the competion .
and stereo sound and you have a roll-up gameboy (after all it only had 4 shade of grey).
I can see a lot of potential for this material, Imagine if you will an A4/US Legal sized one with a SD card reader, you could take 1000's of books/magazines with you and save alot of paper with out loosing the feel of reading.
Surely the definition of PD is an application/data that the author freely distributes possibly with a small EULA asking that the app/data not be altered and re-distributed in its original form.
Many people write tools that are then distributed free as a hobby or because they think other people may find them useful, I fail to see how/why this would stop.
IR's biggest fault is always going to be line-of sight as it is somethimes difficult to balance two laptops on a desk pointing at one another.
Bluetooth is quite good but needs more bandwidth perhaps a good solution for w/l Personal Area Networks would be a form of 802.11g that only had a range of say 5 to 10 meters.

IMHO thats what happened between genders.

It also bares out that potentialy some races will be better at certain mental tasks. Political correctness insists that we are a equal when we are not, we all have equal worth but NOT equal ability and I think that is something that we just have to accept and move on, of course that said it is important to remember that there is no average man and an individuals ability should be baised on their own performance not a gender/racial model.
Violent games reduces youth crime by giving the players an out-let for there negative urges in the same way porn can releave sexual fustration.
On a side note if you do not want your childred play unsuitable games/watching unsuitble video then please exercise your perental rights and not buy/confiscate them from your childred. (okay I'm not a parent ect, ect but I was raised well)
Alot of people today seem to be scared of acting the bad guy with there kids and I think this is leading to some of the issues we face; Many parents will not spank there kids and will try to negotiate with them, now there is nothing worng with this at first but eventualy a line must be draw elivating parents above children (we are not equal and kids need to be set certain boundries) and a swift slap on the backside/back of the legs is an effective way of controlling an unruly kid (worked on me and my brother and my friends). So wehn tring to enforce the law and they are kicking up merry hell because you've said GTA is not suitable for a 6 year old draw the line and say NO!
Finaly keep talking to your children so that you can gauge where they are in terms of development you may find that they are ready for such things befor they are at the age the box says and read the games magaziens too they are a useful insight.

I would really like one that got a 0-62 of say 8 seconds. This should be do-able with a nice powerful electric motor and allowing it to drain more power in the acceleration phase, one up to speed it should be able to cruise using a comparable amount of energy.
Bio-fuels would seem to be the way forwards as they are virtualy carbon nutral (alowing for processing). On a side note NPower in the UK is running an experiment where they pay farmers to grow willow which is made into a fule that can be burnt in an existing coal fire station.
Finaly is it me or are many (not all but especialy batter-only)of the eco-consept cars so gay looking even gay people would not drive them due to it looking too overtly gay.

You ARE stealing and you ARE gaining unlawful access to a private network. If you want to share bandwidth (I do so with my neighbours as they are very light users and I have a loverly fat pipe) then it should be done openly. Although you could argue it is the owners responcibility to secure there own network it is no different to seeing a house with an open window and going in to nick the biscutes.
Why would you want so much crap?? My homebrew PVR can only record 1 channel at a time (soo to upgrade to 2) on a 160Gb 7.2kRMP drive and I can get around 80hours of TV (T4 is a bit grainy and takes the bit rate way up).
What would be more useful is a device that could record say atmost 3 to 5 channels symaltaniously but only record stuff you are interested in! By specifying a series of key words and topics is could scan the tv guids for shows it thinks you would like (also you can schedule your own choices aswell, you cant let the machine get above it's station). Failing that a benality filter to screen out reality TV and the like replacing it with re-runs of start trek/B5/Red Dwarf/informative documentary would be good.
Star trek had talking computers, tri-corders and hypo-sprays and bang! they all happened. Cryogenic freazing we have that! sliding doors with sensors, every store!
Now it turns out planets realy make spooky noises, what else in sci-fi is also true? Will it turn out that all beam weapons only have stun, kill and vaporise settings (no oh that stung a bit but I'm basicaly okay setting?)
FIPS like MIPS is meaningless as alot of it is dependent on how many intructions it takes to calculate a result. If the CPUs are RISC based complex operations will take considerably longer than the same setup with CISC (and as for patern searching both would be slower than a similar speced ZISC set up!)
at uni I found removing the fan guards (Gasp!) reduced the noise by reducing air turbulance. Now I want to either migrate the PVR to watercooling (zalleman silent tower) or get a mobo with speed step so when the CPU is idle (with a hardware MPEG encoder on the PVR-250 and the NVidia MX440 MPEG decoding the CUP rarely crests above 10%) in the meantime I might try underclocking the cpu (dropping the voltage and the clock spped) and see what happens.
I think in order to get man to mars we are going to have to think BIG. I would propose the ship have two types of shield one using mass and a huge EM field. The ship would have to be nuclear inorder to power the shield and engines, mass could be minimised by only shielding the living quaters. Constructing a Doughnut shaped living area would allow for roatation and thus gravity (the rotation could be varied to allow the crew to adapt when returning from a prolonged exposure to low martian gravity).
Befor any of this can be done it would be desirable to get a martian base sorted out ahead of schedule, this opens up a whole can of worms as we need to make sure all the modules land near eachother calling for a MPS (Martian Positioning System) to be set up.
It is going to take a lot of time and money + internation co-operation to do this right; NASA, ESA, Russia, Japan, India and China realy need to talk and split the load instead of everyone re-inventing the same wheel.
If the Amiga can be credited with just one achivement it has to be the SFX in Babylon 5. Amiga 4000/040's with lightwave brought our last best hope to life (with a little help from the render-suras granted).
I think this is going to cause a proble later on as we are either going to need biger chips or make the pins out of C60 as they are going to start to get a bit bendy.
I am quite excited about the DDR aspect on a dual core as this should help eleviate the bottle neck of two processors on one bus.

Add an external drive (DF1) and it's in stereo! BTW did you ever download the prog that could make DF0 on the A500 play "Daisy".
