kWin is the window manager that runs on top of the KDE desktop - surely you should be able to remove it and use a different WM? I'm not to 'up' on KDE but you can definately use alternatives to metacity & sawfish in GNOME (e.g: I've run WindowMaker in GNOME).
For sum reason SUMPRODUCT() doesn't seem to work, e.g: SUMPRODUCT((A1:A10=B1:B10)*10) in excel would give the number of matches in the range A1:B10 (i.e: A1=B1, A2=B2, etc) and multiply them buy 10 - thinkFree just gives #VALUE!
Personally I quite like the look of the SunRays (especially the newer ones) - but to be fair, for home use it's a bit silly to have a workstation running SunRay server so you can use the SunRay when you could just use the workstation.
Actually real words make passwords easy to crack as parts of the password can be compared to a dictionary. Have a look at LophtCrack (think that was it's name) which did exactly this for windows systems. It's actually quite impressive how quickly the passwords can be cracked if the words are in the dictionary (or just have a word followed by numbers etc).
Errr SunRays only use 4 watts of power and the noise is pretty much silent - if fan noise is the only thing stopping you using solaris for desktop use then SunRays would be pretty much quieter than anything else around! Also my Ultra 60 is way quieter than my PC!
"...would require by law all commercial websites to place 'marks and notices' on each page containing 'sexually explicit' content, with penalty up to 5 years imprisonment."
So all comercial sites will have to add pornographic marks and notices on each of their pages?? I don't want to be bombarded with porn each time I visit e-bay thank you very much! I'm sure that's meant to read "on each page that contains 'sexually explicit' content"!
"Among these missing features are the various Vista Ultimate Extras (features and services), including a Texas Hold-em game that was developed by the people behind Windows Calendar and Sidebar, Virtual PC Express, Media Center support for the Xbox 360 Media Center Extender, automatic hard disk defragmentation, themed slideshows, Windows Movie Maker HD, and so on."
I know a lot of people only use Windows for games... but stating the first missing feature to be a Texas Hold'em game is hardly important!
"Sun has contributed very little to the free software community. The only distros that do support Sun can only do so very weakly, due to lack of any material contributions from Sun. No hardware, no documentation, nothing."
What a load of uninformed tosh! Sun has been a big team player for years, you only have to look through the RFC's to see how much work they've done. Further the most recent thing standard they've worked on was the XML specification, Jon Bosak (a Sun guy) led the creation of it at W3C. Possibly the 2 largest players in networking were Berkley & Sun!
With regards to installing Linux on SPARC, I've never had any problems with it - perhaps you should check out the howto's? However, I'm not sure why anyone would want to run Linux on a SPARC, Solaris is (IMHO) the better OS and you can run Linux apps through BrandZ (if you can't be bothered just to recompile them).
And then there's OpenSolaris, OpenOffice, postgreSQL etc! How can you possibly say they have contributed very little?
There are plenty of SD card readers that look like a usb memory stick and plenty of SD cards with built in usb ports... perhaps you should research what a PDA can do before saying it can't be done?
"believe it is acceptable to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol"
Since when was it not acceptable to drink alcohol?? OK - I know they're a bit funny about it in the states but here in the UK it's hard to walk down a street without seeing a pub or 2.
Wow all these posts and there are only a handfull of Sun/Solaris mentions. Sun are making great improvements to PostgreSQL, they're currently working on a Solaris optimized version which will be a big bonus.
OH boy, I can see a law suit here from the First Internet Backgammon Server guys! Although as long as The fibonacci guys stay away from music they'll be fine... oh wait....
Hmmm natural cells in your eye than can detect light or "a power source, a camera of sorts, a computational element, and an array of electrodes that can crank out precise, well-timed current pulses" (from tfa)... is that really a choice??
Apart from educational use for Linux newbies & cross-platform development I really don't understand why anyone would want to run Linux under a VM on Windows. The benefits of Linux are all low level (security, good control over the OS - that kinda thing). The cons of Linux are that you have lack of applications in some areas (games etc). I can see the point in running Windows under a VM to run an app to do X that you can't get on Linux, but why the other way around? If you're mad enough to compromise security etc to run Windows as the host OS, what would you be using the VM for??
Don't forget the McLaren F1 (and the Mercedes McLaren SLR for that matter - made in woking btw). I'm sure a lot of people would agree with me that even today there is no better road car than the F1.
Perhaps they should try the new Sun kit... a single processor T1000 only uses 180W - so 24000 would only use up 4.32MW and they're 6 or 8 core processors instead of the 4 cores mentioned.
Although you'd need to allow power usage by any cluster terminals, routers, external storage etc... but with 166MW of the stated 170MW I think you could fit that in.
I can't believe you responded to that! Although it did make me laugh... most of the points were hilarious, especially about "no databases for linux as powerfull as MS Access"! I'd love to know what people like Oracle & Sun(PostgreSQL) would say about that.
How can pointing out there's a current Sun Lawsuit with these guys be a troll? TFA even mentions the Sun lawyers:
"The scalability is showing is attracting big-name early adopters, including Credit Suisse - and even enough to have Sun Microsystems lawyers hammering at the door, alleging intellectual property infringements."
Basically Sun are saying that Azul are infringing on Sun's patents and have illegaly obtained Suns trade secrets. Sun have tried to take part ownership of the Azul and charge ongoing license fee's. Azul have given Sun a chance to look at their documents etc to prove that they haven't infringed on the patents, but Sun haven't taken them up on the offer - I believe Azul are trying to sue Sun also as they believe they're just trying to distract their companies resources.
Personally I wouldn't like to pin my hopes on a chip that has so much politics going on behind the scenes - I'd rather wait until all of this is sorted.

Personally I want HDDVD to win, just because I like anything with "DD"'s ;P

That is the supported OS for the doc file - the beta only runs on XP & 2003.

Great time to plan some downtime... just when the marketing spirals! Perhaps the site is almost /.ed and they're trying to look good (read: better) =P

So far they appear to be google ads - which are text based - so no, Lynx wouldn't count as an adblocker in this case

Redhat going to include DRM software?? Great one more command for the post install scripts:
% yum remove *DRM*
And here's the script for anyone interested.
