though slightly burned by Jar Jar, most likely very forgiving.
I felt major burn from Jar Jar, and the rest of the movie. That movie was crap. I was a huge Star Wars fan until EP1. I'm less of a fan now. I just turned down midnight tickets, but I will see it in the theaters, just not for a few weeks.

FreeBSD has the most "political" core group. AFAIK, Net and Open are more concerned with the code being correct, and working, rather than if a part of the man page is in bold or not. I've seen arguments go on for a week after the subject they are debating is fixed, and works quite well. The bikeshed is burnt to the ground.;-)

True, but the whole naming war is silly. How can you expect to take over the world, if you can't decide on how to name it?
(Granted, I'm just a silly user of a dying os (BSD), so my opionion may not be valid (not to mention my spelling))

ogle or mplayer. I use both on my [Open|Free]BSD boxen. Since both ogle and mplayer's primary development platform are Linux, I assume that they are the same (if not better) on Linux. Download the source code, untar it, and run [./configure && make && sudo make install]. Piece of cake. =)
I prefer the fact, that when Mozilla crashes, my entire OS doesn't die. It gives me time to exit all of my other apps normally, and reboot correctly. I love Konq, and except for the fact that it crashes when I try to view [www.wilwheaton.net], it is plenty enough of a browser for me. =)
Just FYI, I took off OSX and put OpenBSD on it. Because I like the "look and feel" of real X4.2.0 and KDE3, and I prefer the "method to the madness" of real BSD.
I won't let anyone inside my firewall run Outlook Express. And I go through, and check, and double check their security settings for all of their apps as well. Granted, I run [Free|Open]BSD, so I don't care about the viruses, but I don't feel like fixing my roommate's computers, when I could be breaking my own....;-)
That's half the fun of working on a PC while drunk. I once decided to re-arrange my partition setup while not losing any information, and not having any eq to make a backup (not even an extra hard drive). That's lots of fun. I did manage to get it working, but I had to clean up/etc/fstab, and/dev/toilet when I woke up in the morning.;-)
Not to start a flame war, but in *BSD you just have to [cd/usr/src && make buildworld && make installworld] Maybe slightly different for specific versions, but that's all.
1) Climbing gear can KILL you if it's not tested right. Most compaies with that equipment already has all of that stuff on file, so it's not a big deal.
2) If you are not a member, then they don't (and can't) audit you.
The only BSA I am a member of is Boy Scouts of America. I dare the Buisness Software Alliance to audit me. I got time to spare, and I'm willing to fight it.
We went over this last time. If you have a minor do it, then you get busted as if you agreed to the EULA, AND for contributing to a minor's criminal behavior. Double whammy.
I did. (well, circular, with a small box on one "corner") It came from a 25 year old mainframe array (8 cabinets, connected with bazillions of wires), and it held 20 Megs.
I have a nice scar from when I took it apart. (Saw bone on that one)
Signed, sealed, delivered, and refunds, by January 31. 1040EZ, and 540EZ (CA). One job, no deductions, nothing special, claimed S 0 on my W-4, claimed S 1 on my forms, both refunded. =)
I've used a Logitech mouse with my OSX TiBook since late december, and I didn't have to install any drivers. True Plug-and-Play, not that Windows Plug-and-installdrivers-and-Play
Those 15 minute breaks are considered "on the clock", and therefore paid. You have to stay "on the premesis" (defined by your employer, traditionally, the building, and parking lot area) The same act that enacted overtime, and minimum wage, is responsable for that (I don't remember the name of the actual law).
Lunch, however, is not paid, and therefore your time. You could go home, get a haircut, buy a car, it doesn't matter, but you have to be back by the time lunch is up.
I loved Slackware as far as Linux goes, but I didn't like the libray issues. And the fact that you had to go 3 bazillion places to update your system to the latest and greatest (With FreeBSD, do a cvsup, then [cd/usr/src && make world && mergemaster]. Done.)
The shell wasn't a problem, I know how to change those. (I currently use tcsh)
NetBSD, is using the linux style rc scripts, while Free/OpenBSD use the BSD style rc scripts. I greatly prefer the BSD style.
I'm going to blitz my system this weekend, (I'm sure I screwed OSX up, and a re-install won't bother me) and while I'm at it, I'll give Open/NetBSD a shot (just a few more hours of installs, why not?)
If you want to continue this discussion, no need to spam the story. Email me, spambox@theapt.org is checked, and doesn't need to be de-spammed. (Just a dirtly little drop box).
I want to use [mplayer] It's (IMHO) the best media player out there. I like OpenBSD, but support for end-user stuff is limited (even more so than the arch problem). Free/OpenBSD ports system, just rules. I wish every OS can have it, it's SO easy, and is very intuitive. I have played a bit with netbsd, and it "feels" wrong. I suppose I just have to sit down and use it for a while. I wont run linux. I don't like the feel of it either. Nothing personal against linux developers/users, it's just not for me. I hate RedHat though, the worst distro I have tried. (Slackware, Debian, SuSE, RedHat) OS 9 is an improvement for media, but I've been so damn spoiled with a unix base, (and I left the Mac camp in 1994 to run unix, just a recent return) I won't (by choice) run a non-unix operating system.
I think I'll wipe my laptop this weekend, and try OpenBSD on it, and give NetBSD a shot. I'll even try the FreeBSD PPC port.

I pronouce linux the same way Linus does. See here: http://andrew.triumf.ca/pub/linux/english.au

Yes, I have, and I don't know if it's karma, or what, because they still take the OS down for me. I am very fond of unix browsers from 1998, lynx. =)

Yes but this is one of the key benefits. When the kids start crawling, you use the magic Pause button on the Tivo! :)

Where is that hack? Does it work on wifes/girlfriends?
I think a false arrest and defamation of charecter (sound it out, my spelling is terrible) law suit would be appropriate. But then again IANAL.

Ditto.
