    and different hardware/raid/multiplier/power harness setup..

    basically the same just updated - and worth an note about.. i wish they sold or someone sold the setup sans drives (or just the bare case) - it looks fun to mess with but don't have a lot of free time now days.

    but using government to force oil companies (or any squatter) to either use or give up their patent rights to alternative energy methods would put a good dent in the problem.

    "HD Glare" - finely someone accurately advertising glossy screens - that took long enough

    if i remember correctly one of the reasons it was so challenging to decommission was because they let it sit for nearly 20 years before doing it

    If it's a Thinkpad (and within the past 3 years) look at getting a Series 3 docking station.. they support dual VGA/DVI/DP .. compatibility differs on laptop model and the video card (aka mine will do dual DVI but not dual DP)

    i use an x220 with dual DVI on the dock and Bluetooth keyboard/mouse to my office setup.. and the same at home.. works wonderful

    i like open source an no problem with it but Desktops has been available for a long time from SysInternals which is now part of MS.. if your in the windows world i'd recommend you take a look at it - lean and straight forward

    i remember dumpster diving.. many years ago.. always went to one where there was this really bad computer repair shop.. they had a large customer base because they had no competition for a long time. anyways their techs had the the mentality of just replace and throw away and make the customer pay for it.. i never once found a bad part in that dumpster except ones that had been smashed by other things falling into it

    only thing i can think of is to avoid having this actual name attached to it..

    but i do find odd is that it took so long for the sysadmins to stop him.. sorry but hiding it under a cardboard box and coming back and swapping drives.

    if it was transferring enough data for the admins to take notice and to "block the ip" they should have recognized it was an internal IP and found it physically.. follow the traffic to the switch and follow the cable..

    this isn't that hard to do - hell they had the luxury of knowing information about the rogue device to start with

    it's the "fine" i have a problem with - people need to be responsible for their actions.. even if they are working under the orders of others in their job.. if they break the law they need to go to jail

    i know there is problem under the military chain of command for this - but when it comes to corporations there should be zero questions.

    they way i view the problems in Africa - you can only help people who want help and care.

    Sadly the ones that do want help get over powered by the greedy.

    Too many people there and here are Short sighted (look at most large corps now days) everyone wants instant gratification..

    To bring Africa up and to make our own world better we need long term vision and commitment.. we need people doing things for the sake of society not for them selves.

    true but when you have 10-15+ words in a row and the cracker knows nothing about them it doesn't matter.

    if the cracker knows the scheme by which the password was created then it makes it a lot easier to narrow the search space - but unless it's an inside job or social engineering or something far more elaborate - for long passwords the effective search space is equal to the brute force key space.

    well the start size is dependent on what you are willing to spend to have them put in..

    and given the houseing market and concern on price - you shouldn't plan on selling in the next 3-5 years there's time to let them grow

    So i assume the pentagon is a horrid idea and that we should never have the leaders of these branches in the same area as each other?

    aside from your "cruse missile" (which by the way would work just as well now as it would then) comment the other stuff is already covered inside a data center - just because the info is in the same building doesn't mean the networks talk to each other - nor does it mean one side knows what the other is doing..

    If you read the comments before mine the guy was claiming that the CIO's comment of 3 data centers would be insufficient for the 5 branches of military.

    my comment was wondering why the military would be unable to share data centers.

    everyone knows that relying on a single data center would be stupid but then that would be one reason why he is recommending 3..

    again back to the original question rather than "jumping to a conclusion" why exactly could the different branches of the military not share a data center(s)?

    explain to me why we need that much overlap? i understand the different roles that each branch fills.. but there is zero reason why each of them can't use the same data center.

    well an example could be that you moved from one part of the state to another.. and got a new licence - and rather than going in and "renewing" you got in the "new" line.. and hence are issued a "new" licence with new number at your new address while your other hasn't expired.

    i say this because i do this - i intentionally have two licences for my state with two different addresses - but because i own both properties and any time you have to mess with anything that has to do with proof of where you live it is a lot easier to have a license with that address on it..

    and in this state it isn't illegal if you own both properties.

    this system uses the stock photos used for created the Drivers Licence (the one snapped at the DMV)..

    but your question is - Motorcycle riders in some places are required to ware helmets - the rest of us it is optional..

    If you want to ware a helmet in your car go for it - i do it all the time on the track and have done it before on the interstate (it was next to me as i was returning from the track - and given the weather and traffic situation i felt there was a very very strong need for it, luckily there wasn't).

    what is illegal in some places (and where i live) is wearing headphones.. and i wish they would enforce it, too many people driving around not paying attention.

    same here - i have a rather large music collection that i don't touch now because pandora does what i want - now if i want a specific song right then i will go find it and play it but 99% of the time it's pandora..

    i never did bother to download music and movies but i did rip everything i bought so that i would have it on what ever computer i was using.. now i don't have to bother.

    i do wish pandora would increase it's catalog of non main stream some more.. they have a good selection but it wouldn't hurt to get wider.. (kind of wish they would include music from magnatunes - love both of them)

    no but i can see it applying to Apples App store and its auto notification of updated applications (at least on the outside)
