I want to want shows when I want them without commercials and I'm willing to pay for that.
I have a DVR on Cox Cable and Netflix on my PS3. Shows that are on HBO and Showtime are available the next day on HBO and Showtime HD indemand so I don't bother recording them. I only use the DVR for broadcast shows that include commercials.

The basic problem is this, broadcast television is an anachronism that hasn't died yet but will soon.
The technology vendors(Google, Apple, Netflix, Hulu, etc ) are lining up to deliver a good content experience because the broadcaster (CBS,NBC,ABC, FOX, etc) haven't done it.

No moron, high end disk arrays "phone home" either by dedicated phone line or email when a disk failure occurs. The disk array immediately starts rebuilding a RAID set using a hot spare. The disk you receive in the mail or from an on-site call is to replace the failed drive. They don't need access to your data, just the status of the array subsystem. >The biggest argument against the large storage companies, is that large, dynamic companies don't use them. Amazon doesn't. Google doesn't. Facebook doesn't. The only company in your list that doesn't use a large storage company is Google. Most companies don't have the in-house expertise to keep trace of their data. They out source a lot of the work so they can concentrate on their core business.

You are not superior, and in fact, you are also wrong, although those two factoids might not be related. Before you go around demanding that other people define terms for you, consider reading more.
