    Furthermore, in some Indian states (such as Jammu and Kashmir), you have to fill out a form with your name, photograph, and proof of address to get a pre-paid/post-paid connection.... All in the name of terrorism. So, what happens now..... Pakistan is setting up towers along the International border, and the terrorists are getting sim-cards from pakistan and making calls using pakistani towers, whereas local indian population has to go through so many hassles to get a single sim-card.

    people stop trying to find faults with the american university system. It is the elementary/high schools in america that needs to be fixed. The higher education in USA is the best in the world. People yearn to come here to get quality higher education. Ask any international (undergraduate/graduate) student who is studying here.

    i don't think posting that you are out of your home for few hours is going to make much difference... the robbers have to make sure that your neighbors are also not at their home
    may be we can go one step ahead and make a website that does that too..

    Release it and prove that users like what you have. Otherwise, I don't even know that your great platform/software does what you are saying it does. You want to make money out of your start-up but don't want to do the initial hard labor... it doesn't work that way.

    A stockholder company has a wide range of fiduciary issues. It's very likely that if the government, as 80% owner, tried to force corporate secrets into the open that the other 20% could sue them for abandoning their responsibility to the company.

    We don't want the secrets to be open, we just want the one who owns the 80% company (i.e., we the people) to know those secrets.

    No, you can not predict what information may put you in trouble in the future. Something that looks harmless at present may bite you in the ass in the future (e.g. during job search etc.). So, if you have encrypted your posts right from the beginning, then you don't have to worry about the future.

    I don't understand why would anyone buy anything by clicking on the ads appearing on webpages? I usually google the thing I want to buy, or just go to amazon, buy.com etc for price comparison. I don't think I will ever buy anything by clicking on ads. It is surprising to me that online ads can help sustain companies. Can someone please enlighten me? Thanks!

    I had to buy a Red Hat book to get my hands on to the linux install CD that came with it. It took me (and one of my other friends) a whole night to figure out how to partition the drive. Basically, it was something like if you install linux in the partition beyond 4 or 8 GB (dont remember exactly), then you can not boot linux from that partition. We had windows installed in the beginning of HD. It took us a while to get it running, but it was fun.

    There was no internet in our dorms at that time. All the computers on our floor were connected using the old coax cable with terminators at both the ends.

    12? Where does 12 come from?

    My concern with upgrading my brother's 512meg Vista machine to a 512meg Win7 machine is that (1) I still don't think it will run any faster and (2) Win7 might not have the necessary drivers to operate the video/audio cards and therefore be impossible to use.

    I think your concern is not valid here. I am running Win7 on my 5 year old inspiron 300m with 640 Megs of memory, and believe me, Win7 is runnig just fine.. Never experienced any slowdown or anything.

    And regarding drivers, it did not first install the drivers for my wireless card, but when I connected it to Internet using wired ethernet, it downloaded and installed the drivers for wireless card just fine. I was able to run all the programs for general web surfing,.. and IMs like skype yahoo etc without any problem.

    Because with Apple the AirPort Express is your "dock", as most of what you're asking for can already be done wirelessly. Plug your speakers and your printer into your Express, .

    The only thing here is that you can not plug your speakers into the airport express.

    What I am saying is, seven years in to the stark reality posed by the threat of Islamic terrorism, I am surprised that India hasnt opted to carpet bomb Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

    A correction, its not 7 years, its almost 20 years since islamic terrorism started in India.
    This is the beginning I think, and the terrorists have never looked back.

    companies usually release products for the platform that is in use by majority of users.. Even google released picasa, google-earth, etc for windows only in the beginning..

    I read the pdf of the settlement, and it says that the defendant(baker) has to pay the plantiff(riaa) $6050 in 55 monthly installments.. and that is it!!!

    One of the major points that differentiate a good school from an average is the quality of teachers teaching the subjects and performing research.
    Even if exact same books and syllabus is used, students will learn material differently from different teachers.
