    The 3k from 18 months ago, and the 3k you are spending now. That totals 6k. He has a lot of errors in judgement, but not math.

    Why would I want two computers? If I buy the new one, I will sell my old one for more than he paid for his Athlon.

    No, I got a "Dual G4/500" for $3k not $6k. Maybe you need to trade in that Athlon for a PowerMac because it appears to have a addition bug in it. And no, your $1.5k Athlon cannot outmuscle both Mac systems. Your Athlon cannot do what a Mac can do because it is crippled by poor Operating Systems. Windows and Linux are no match for the BSD induced power of Mac OS X. Where is your DVD authoring and burning software stock on your machine?

    I could sell my clean, working, maxxed out 1989 SE/30 (68k Mac) for $200 and have people fight to pay more on eBay.

    I just bought a dual 500 G4 PowerMac about 1 1/2 years ago for $3,000 w/ an ATI Rage Pro 128. Now I can get a dual 1Ghz PowerMac w/ a GeForce4 for $3,000. Awesome!

    Though I wish the "iWalk" wasn't a fake, I got a note in my e-mail from Palm that they are releasing some whiz bang, got to buy it, new Palm Pilot (oops cant call it that anymore). But, of course, they won't tell me what it is and I haven't found a Palm rumor site like the Mac guys have. Given that most of the Palms released after the Palm III sucked, I am really hoping Palm does something cool. I haven't bought a new PDA since 1999. There has been nothing on the market to excite me since.

    Note to Apple: BRING BACK THE NEWTON!!!

    If all it takes for a company to sue to obtain another company's customer data, then I can imagine other competitors in other markets doing the same to crush the competition. Make up a plausible but legally flimsy claim and you too can access your competition's customer base! If your sales men can't get them to switch, find a way to sue them for not buying.

    Dropping my CRT resulted in a few scratches; dropping an LCD results in a sloppy mess and a couple hundred dollars down the tubes.

    Why the hell are you dropping your monitor in the first place? You put the monitor on your desk not on your lap! Just because its an LCD doesn't make it a notebook.

    Guess Tom isn't cool enough or rich enough to get his hands on Apple's 22 "Cinema Display. It is the best LCD monitor on the market for consumers. The only problem is that it is out of the price range of everyone except Steve Jobs.

    This is the only piece of hardware I have ever drooled over!

    i still can't believe no one's addressed the really important part: What is the LCD drops a pixel or two?

    Ever hear of a warranty? Apple has years of experience of selling and repairing LCD screens. They have the best in the market. Just take a gander at the Cinema Display.

    Also by your argument regarding tv/dvd combos then no one would buy a notebook computer. Think of the new iMac as a non-mobile notebook computer.

    I doubt that Apple stole from this person as he released the drawings last summer, Apple has been working on the design of the new iMac for 2 years. Just two minds thinking a like. It happens from time to time.

    Granted, the new iMac is beautiful on the surface. But that great design is not limited to the outer shell. Check out what the iMac looks like on the inside. This Apple draft service manual has great pictures of the guts of the iMac.

    So, what, you and two of your friends that actually use vorbis can play your music? Face it, Vorbis is a failure in the music compression market. It has not light fire one under anyone's butt yet. I am not about to re-encode my 400 CDs with Vorbis. MP3 does the job.
