My issue with streaming services are the lack of subtitles. I like to have English subtitles when I watch movies because my friends are not native English speakers. (Or if I'm watching a non-English movie)
If Dell is junk, what do people recommend? I already have a Macbook Pro, but in the future I want to purchase a non-Apple computer, what brand is most trusted? Lenovo? HP?
As much as I like to joke that some people need licenses to operate a computer or use the Internet, this would be a bad thing. We'd all end up with license numbers and sites would start to require us to register with those numbers if we wanted to use those services.
For many Internet-based services in Korea, you must enter a citizen ID.
All Korean dramas and movies pretty much use Windows XP/Vista. (Ok, some movies have used Macbooks) I get so annoyed when I see a vanilla XP install/computer in the dramas with the default rolling hill background. At least change the background to make it look like people actually use the computer.:(
Hardy Heron is nice, but it is not ready for everyone. I see coders using it and old people. Why old people? Because most old people just want to surf the web and check e-mail. I believe Linux is perfect for that.
As for me, I've had no problem with Ubuntu on my desktop. But I've had a terrible time with Ubuntu on my notebook. I've been running the Hardy Heron beta and I still can't open video files from a network share and have the subtitle files be loaded. (Yes, I've tried using fuseSMB, but it makes my hard drive emit more sounds than on Windows)
Every ATI driver I've ever used prevents my videos from looking normal. They end up all pixelated. (I know most of this is ATI's fault for not open sourcing the drivers)
I'm in no way a hater. In fact, I like Ubuntu and it is installed on my girlfriend's Toshiba laptop and works great.
But for my needs, Ubuntu Hardy Heron on my notebook is not easy to use to do what I take for granted in Windows.
Do you think they will keep the original sound of the AutoJacks when the Mach 5 jumps? Those are classic. I hear those in my sleep.
Ah, did anyone think it was a nice gesture that they let Peter Fernandez (English voice actor for Speed Racer) play a part in the movie?
The only reason I stay with Firefox is the extremely useful extensions. I've also noticed Google Reader and GMail seem a bit quirky in Opera. However, I use Opera sometimes, and I think it's a great browser.
"Xbox 360 To Profit Next Year, Says Bach"
It's always good to see a world famous musician forecast when Microsoft's XBox division will become profitable.
Perhaps Microsoft is trying to make computers look exciting. Remember when all the OEMs switched to Black? I remember when everyone looked at their old, beige PCs in disgust as they saw new black models. Could this be something similar? Depending on Microsoft's design, who knows? OEMs may like the idea for marketing purposes.
I know, I know. "Microsoft" and "Design" together is strange. But let's wait and see until the new designs are unveiled.
Can we get rid of the all uppercase Slashdot slogan? "NEWS FOR NERDS. STUFF THAT MATTERS."
I don't want to get yelled at everytime I go to Slashdot. Just make it normal "News for Nerds. Stuff that matters."
Next week, Google will unveil its new gHUD technology. gHUD allows the player to immerse themselves within a game without information overload. Rival Yahoo's HUD currently only lets players see 1/4 of their screen.
I'm under the impression that you cannot build a house, create objects, clothing without investing real money into the game. You have to pay Second Life money in order to upload TEXTURES. And a monthly fee if you want to own a house on land. Can someone explain why this is worth paying a monthly fee every month? Don't get me wrong, I think Second Life is an interesting concept.
I come to Slashdot to read the comments posted by other users. There are actually some highly intelligent people that know what they are talking about, which I enjoy reading. (They are not always there, though)
Digg.com's comments are terrible, I don't know what it is. Maybe digg.com users are less mature or something. (Look at the Diggnation podcast and see how offtopic they get when reading NEWS)
Anyway, Slashdot is great for reading comments from the community, Digg is a great place to perhaps find stories that are very recent or too abnormal for Slashdot. I think both sites have their audiences. I don't see Slashdot going away anytime soon.
If News Corp. bought IGN, does that mean we'll quit seeing all these ads that completely litter the site? I don't mind a nice big banner for a movie or something, but IGN takes advertising too far.
Does anyone else see the Nintendo DS has a potential Educational Tool? Why can't companies create Language software for children/adults that want to learn another language.
If the game was rated M for Mature (18+), then why is the idea of a sex mini-game so shocking? Don't you have to be 18 or older to purchase Adult magazines, etc? What about rated R movies (17+) that have sex scenes, nudity, etc.

Guys, we have to prevent Sephiroth from summoning Meteor or we'll all be wiped out again.

I'm not talking about me or geeks. I'm talking about average Joe consumer. The black was sleek and sexy at the time.

Don't forget eBay now has Skype. That could get Microsoft into more markets.
Yeah, because we all know Microsoft's "Origiami" is going to replace PDAs and be adopted by bored Soccer moms waiting for their kids. :D

I see! We need more interactive Language learning software on the DS. Korean, Japanese, Spanish, French, etc.
Does anyone else see the Nintendo DS has a potential Educational Tool? Why can't companies create Language software for children/adults that want to learn another language.
Looks like IE 7 came early, but not from Microsoft.

It's Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst, not Blue Blast. Anyway, the servers have been full all day today. I look forward to having fun this weekend.
