I can understand the reasons for a business such as home depot needing to test their employees for drug use but I think it's more of an insurance/legality thing for them. It's one of the only stores that I know of that often has a few hundred lbs of moving merchandise on a moving forklift several feet above customers heads. So, I don't want someone who's just done a line at the wheel.
But do I feel safer knowing that Home Depot does drug testing?! HELL NO! It's just piss in a bottle and quite often it's origins are not of the piss'er.
Comply with laws, legal requirements and fuck the customer. If they really wanted to ensure that customers didn't get CinderBlockHeadItus then they could subject each employee to a simple peer evaluated sobriety/motor skills test at the beginning of each shift.
There was an episode of "The Munsters" that portrayed persons of middle eastern origins who visited the US on a scouting mission. During their stay they continuously commented on various things that we (The Munsters) used like Grandpa's special "vitamins." That was in the 60s? but everything they claimed to have invented pretty much everything by way of saying something along the lines of "Witamins, which we inwented."
They went back to their country to tell of the super humans (Herman), and other advanced technologies (the ones in Grandpa's basement.)
As for how they age it would be cool if the oxidized copper look comes through..
I'm thinking asbestos and other small particulates don't corrode like copper. Breathing the copper dust might not be too harmful and is supposed to be in your blood unlike tasty lead.
Verizon is the only service provider that has never pissed me off! Sprint, and Comcast for example will never get another penny from me ever again. Sprint's ability to define by example the poorest of customer service, and Comcast's piggish fees are all it takes for me.
Like anyone else I go with whoever I deem best.
In my book Verizon is clearly the winner and i'm on their side. Still fun to watch the other players sqirm though.
Inga sounds like a peon legal secretary. I doubt she had this higher motive you speak of.
When a firm hires a billable attorney they're subjected to a screening process which is called a "Conflicts Check." The subject's name, client names, and other information is searched for by a dedicated department/group within a specialized database of a firm's previous engagements. Lastly some other firm wide communication takes place and everyone is given an opportunity to raise any concern of conflict.
This generally doesn't take place for peon legal secretaries. (I didn't RTFA but I'm fairly certain she isn't a lawyer just yet)
It is bad for Inga if this screening process deems her as being trouble for a prospective legal employer in the future.

30 minutes on a train where everyone had to exhale for the doors to close. . . oh. . and can't forget the hangover that has you wondering if you're going to start doing Linda Blair impersonations on the train. .
FUN. . That one in five may not ride the same train you do!
I worked for a school system and ran MS' Personal Web Server for 95? on a 386 with I think 8mb ram and ran 95 on my own machine with 4mb ram.. I also had a Slackware machine down the hall running sendmail with 64mb ram.
XP.. No . Windows 95. . YES. . it would do a LOT more than INSTALL
Every time an old DLT tape was inserted into one of the SDLT drives that I was responsible for the extraction process involved a screw driver.
the SDLT drives would not eject the old DLT tapes so it was necessary to take the entire drive apart until the old DLT could be taken out manually.
I liked the inaccurate view of the plaza hotel in that episode! The flintstones reference was pretty funny too. Kind of like the 'beyond' section at bed bath and beyond in one of the more recent episodes.
In a past episode of the Simpsons the italian book of criminals had a picture of Peter with a caption of "plagiarist".
I'm betting the FOX execs are wondering why they pay so much for inaccurate ratings.
No Joke. In 4th grade our teacher's 'handyman' dad came into the class with a bottle of mercury. We were all given a small cloth and a penny. . We polished the penny to a nice silvery shine with the mercury. . most of which was lost in the carpet.. everyone took their pennies home. .
Traditional medicine . . I'm thinking this probably includes substances/techniques that have been in use for centuries and if it's a developing country where YOUR patent wouldn't be inforcable anyway what's the harm in their being able to develop and use something that increases their quality of life?
This was my previous employer and all of the machines were 4 way capable with just 3 procs installed with the exception of the 8 way machines which had 4 procs installed. They had a DEC Alpha (alpha server 4100) with three processors too which ran the alpha version of NT 4.
It was very fun working there because they would throw money away for hardware in a NY minute. Sometimes it made me mad though like someone buying A DL580 w/8gb ram as a test IIS server. Old servers were discovered that were still in the box and were not accounted for. $80K in backup tapes went missing for two years.
They'll just ask for more.. and more . . and more..
Those vending machines that sell green paper were not working very well that day!
Stranded and hungry . stuck in own little xp_cmdsHELL
Well, you see . . I live closest to Lowes :)

What a crock. I think i'll shop at Lowes now.

So, TFA sounds like a bit of a rerun to me.
"Intel showed how they have the higher performing solution. "
An attempt at humor. I'm sure they'd never stoop to this level.
Giant cubicles were a mistake? I want one!

Look! Seems this GAMES character gets all of his or her sectional content posted right away!

Even Bender found a way to 'releive his stress'
.. Are you jacking on in there?!
Bender.
The only vocal doodi I know of is MS Windows with MS Agent installed.
There was no MS Agent for DOS because Bill could never find the elusive Dr. Sbaitso's secret hideout.
That is actually what happened. I moved it over to apache once I started hosting something.
Basically I WANTED to run a Windows web server on a 386 w/ 8 (maybe 4) MB of ram.
For the same reasons we install Linux on toaster ovens and old shoes.

Few slashdot comments make me laugh out loud. I dont recall any actually.
But. . "Fisher-Price version of XP" takes the cake!
Thank You!

Seems a bit wrong to me.
At first I thought you were implying that you were deployed for four years without any updates.
Now I just think that you should change your Depends more often.
Apple's 10' pole will not be functional until the next release.
Abort(?), Retry(?), Fail(?) erecting 10' pole.
I have to agree with you on that. I would prefer to be escorted away instead of being required to remain an employee for the following two weeks.
;)
My last employer requested 18 weeks or 90 business days after giving my notice. This guy was just lucky
