A box of granola has a lot of preservatives in it. I did concede on the cost point, however a can of rolled oats costs me slightly more than one granola bar. As for time, I was comparing it to the time it takes to make ramen and I didn't say that it did save me time but that it might. I can make 12 muffins in less time (even with cooking) than it takes to individually make 12 meals of ramen. The bread and granola bars would take longer. Making loose granola is 2 minutes of work and 1.5 hours of roasting. Not as fast but not exactly labor intensive. (Also, most bought loose granola has nuts in it and I don't like nuts.)
I'm not saying ramen doesn't have its place... or granola bars or store bought bread however. There's just a nice balance where, with 5x the time, you can eat 100x better than ramen.
And yes, I just can't bring myself to buy bread anymore. Best thing since sliced bread? Sliced bread was the worst idea ever.
Agreed. I make my own bread, granola, pickles, muffins... things that take less than 20 minutes of work (with a stand mixer in the case of the bread). I eat healthy, tasty food because I put in just a bit of effort. Hell, I might even save time since most things I make last 6+ meals. The drawback may be cost but my meals are still cheaper than fast food.
the De Beers Group situation is not one I've ever understood -- even when trying to "think like a lady."
I hear ya... I told my woman that I had moral objections to buying real diamonds and wanted to buy either another gem or a man made diamond. I ran across this site a month or so back and bought a diamond from it (1/200th the price of a comparable real diamond). She has absolutely no problem with it being man made. Good thing because I don't know if I would want to be with a woman the insisted on "the real thing."
I already wrote to my congressman telling him I will vote against him come Nov. 7 for voting for the ban. Doubt it will make a difference but at least I did something.
I know a Spanish teacher who thinks the same way. She knows how to average scores (mainly via Excel) but lacks some basic concepts relating to averaging. She doesn't realize how ignorant she sounds when she talks. People can function with little math but few can excel.
Insightful? You must either be younger and have no idea what parents where like a generation ago or older and have forgoten what parents where like a generation ago. I bet every generation thinks the previous generation's parents where so much better.
you can't draw conclusions of the performance of this armor by whether it "bounces off" or not
I would like to point out that I don't. I state a fact (more momentum transfer) and then I say that I wonder about the energy transfer.
I only wrote that post because the video made it sound like because the bullet bounces off the liquid armor, it must be better than Kevlar. As you have stated, it does not mean that.
You as a whole recieve a small overall impulse but the armor in front of your nuts will recoil more and smash your nuts in farther if the projectile bounces off compared to if the projectile sticks.
Bullets bounce off? That would transfer more momentum to the armor than if the bullets simply stopped. I wonder how well the liquid armor dissipates energy because you might be better off sticking with the untreated Kevlar. At least, I think your nuts are better protected with something else.
I see this (both the food thing and the cell phone thing) as a tool. Only if parents use over use it do they become overprotective. Even if they do over use it... it's their choice. Kids are pretty resiliant. Most will still grow up just fine.
As I posted elsewhere, "Eyes on Me" from the end of FF VIII still make me tear up. Was it the FMV that made me cry? I'd say it was watching the characters develop over the 100+ hours I put into the game. I cared more for the people in that game than I ever could for people in a 2 hour film.
Hey! Some of us don't have a deity so keep it down.

Are you saying that e-mail is gay?
It depends on what branch of Math you are studying. Some would consider it 1 - epsilon with epsilon an infinitesimally small but non-zero number.

I hate it when people misuse the term natural selection... as if we are going to evolve into a species that is resistant to temptations.
I hope you have a "stupid" kid someday and when they die you thank God for it then kill yourself so you don't pollute the gene pool again.
Because .exe is for windows.

Parent should be +1 informative not +1 funny... unless it's +1 funny 'cause it's true.
God is obviously asain.
I've seen in it Ames, Iowa for a couple of weeks now.
I almost used my last mod point to mod you +1 informative. Some would object but I think it fitting.
