At the cost of about $5 us dollars to register them, that's $15,000,000 yearly. Hard to complain about the "man hours" when there is a service cost incurred.
I found it ever more interesting that they are offering additional licenses for $50 each. As it was explained in some since forgotten blog i happened upon, that is for people having home networks. Hopefully someone can reference that here.
Having the "look and feel" of a common application for windows can minimize training for the application.
If they behave and look similarly, the idea is they are easier to adopt with minimal training or retraining. We tend to forget about the "User Community" sometimes when we/.'ers tend to tinker and experiment.
"Their", as in "Their time is valuable."
"There" as in "There is a bear there"
"They're" as in "They're running out of time"
Before criticizing someone's grammar, be sure that your own is correct.
I just have the Dylan Thomas line ringing around in my head upon hearing this. "Rage rage against the dying of the light"
Would a patent infringement suit have been adversely impacted had it occurred prior to or during bankruptcy proceedings?
Disclosure: didn't RTFA. That said, who says that the simple investment to get to that point would preclude any additional funding or ownwership and licensing and support going forward?
Ok, I'll admit this kind of funding level isn't going to produce billions for the team in 10 years, but might be very promising for them given the right deal overall.
I think this was already achieved in Office Space. They were almost certainly headed to "pound me in the ass" prison had it not been for the fire.

I should have been more clear.. it isn't the IM feature of Yahoo that is lacking. I use Yahoo Messenger to access the chat function. The web enabled chat function of Yahoo available for Linux (Java) is woefully inadaquate, while the chat function availabe via Messenger is much more robust and configurable.
That is indeed a great idea. (rumbles through Winter clothing in a feverish search for my black ski mask)
And, I didn't think I had a reason to go to the bank today!
I applaud Yahoo for opening Messenger to 3rd Party modules. For those people who use the service, myself among them, Yahoo must update Messenger for OSX, Linux. It is blatent disregard for the market that they are lax in updating non-Windows Messenger.
This "tool" is the only Windows application I use, and the only one keeping me from leaving dual-boot Windows/Linux behind forever in favor of Linux.
Even easier.. If Google or Yahoo were the default search engine(s) for IE6 when you install IE7.. watch the install and don't accept the MS default search when it checks curent settings.
AFAIK it is impossible to install IE7 on a system that doesn't already have some flavor if IE already there.
I was wrong once, I've since corrected the shortcomming.
It isn't spyware. It is installed ONLY by User interaction. It is installed when Yahoo Messenger is installed "IF" the user leaves the "Check Box" clicked. I use this toolbar and am NEVER a victim of any spam or spyware as a result.
The MSN, Yahoo and AOL clients used on Mac and PC (Windows, OSX) offer more robust features than Linux counterparts do. If IM was the ONLY use for these clients, I would agree that Gaim or Kopete would suffice. However, this isn't the case.
Link to Music, Blogs, WeatherChat etc. are used extensively as a sort of "portal" to other services offered by the IM provider.
My SOLE reason for not completely dumping Windows is Yahoo Chat. Yes, please hold all flame and conflagration until the end of this post and bravely also Mod me +1 for having the courage to even mention this guilty pleasure.
I use a Windows tool available at http://www.ytunnelpro.com/ that allows me to chat completely BOT and asshat free. Without some tool of that nature available in Linux, I am tied to Windows. And, yes I have enquired of the developer of the availability of a Linux client.
Yahoo's Linux client is lightyears behind it's Windows and OSX cousins. With today's announcement that Microsoft and Yahoo have agreed to grant cross access to their IM, Yahoo has a window of opportunity here to correct this oversight and update their IM client tool.
Suffice it to say that MSN's will never be availabile on Linux. But, the above announcement makes that point potentially moot.

People have the capacity to remember multiple passwords. When they complain about the complexity of the rules we have or the number of different passwords for the many systems we have, I remind them that they probably have remembered hundreds of telephone numbers and know many recipies without fail.
This puts it all in perspective for most of them, but all the same I always check under their keyboards for evidence.. hehe

By promising not to pursue further litigation, does this mean that the defendants would be free to music share and download without fear?

Irony is best served with an LOL or ROTFLMAO. Sometimes I can't wrap my brain around grammar as humor. Thanks for the heads up

It is the robust CHAT features available on Yahoo's servers that I access via messenger.

I wouldn't ordinarily consider a 6.1 megabyte update "small", but credit where it is due. It worked.
It's Apple's site, Apple's commercial and it requires QuickTime. I'll have to pass.
