From reading the New Scientist article the reason that people are taking the theory at least relatively seriously was because of its ability to very accurately predict the masses of various fundamental particles before current methods of doing so were developed iirc.

Protected from known malware... so what about all the unknown stuff thats quite probably being coded as we speak from the publically available exploit? Microsoft is so full of bullshit on this one, I can't wait to see what happens to my school's network when 2000+ students are surfing the net and one comes across a highly malicious image file, especially when they've got 4-5 days in which to do it (depending when the sysadmin patch).

"Each leg has five electronic modules connected in a high-speed synchronous ring network or LAN. Each module is connected to nearby sensors and actuators, and all modules talk to each other, as well a controlling computer. A third ring network lets the design team debug the system and acquire data. Eventually, the third ring may support electronic and communication gear needed by the soldier (but not by the exoskeleton)."

I really would not recommend putting communication devices on the same physical network as the one that controls the movement of the legs. Seems like an accident waiting to me.

"For example, we are still trying to learn more about what people want for entertainment, how do the(y?) want it, and how we strike a balance that is fair and gives people choice."

I can answer that for you, we want it cheap (as in ALOT cheaper than CDs), easy to download and without DRM. That will stop a larger proportion of piracy than your existing methods of beating old and young alike with legal documents. I mean you basically have a choice, use DRM piss off a large proportion of your audience, however pirates will just strip the DRM away (don't be naieve enough to think that it won't be cracked) and it'll be shared as a clean .mp3 file, or you can deliver that clean .mp3 file yourselves, gain some good publicity from that and get more from people who'd rather buy a clean .mp3 than pirate it if possible.

You'd think that, and I would as well, but recently a (very) local band signed up for a deal with Sony... The band themselves are great guys and they make awesome music but God Damn, signing up with Sony? Sony!?! I really can't see them as the kind of people who would sell out on purpose, but with how well publisised the whole rootkid scandal has been you do wonder.

But then its pretty much just nerds who find out about the sort of shit companies and especially music publishers pull and get outraged by it, whenever I say to a friend that I refuse to buy Sony products they're all "wtf?". The fact is that normal people don't visit sites that will tell them about this stuff, I mean the BBC will put say one article about how Sony put some kind of technical computer thing called a "Rootkit" onto people's computers, but it'll be relatively low key. Reports of people getting sued filters its way into the public conscious but not the stuff that the RIAA, or whoever, doesn't want to get out. And even if it did people would shrug apathetically and say "Yeah, they suck but what can we do about it?"

The fact that I'm surprised Bush can manage to stand up and talk at the same time is irrelevant to my point.
