    What does this rant have to do with Ted Stevens? He lost because during his trial a large number of Alaskans thought he looked like a lying politician. The people who voted early (during the trial) overwhelmingly voted for Begich.

    I usually start by turning on my machine and heading over to the coffee machine. By the time I have coffee my machine is booted. If they're not paying me to power down the computer then I'm hitting the power switch and I'm out of there.

    You took her seriously BEFORE the SNL skits?! Dude ...

    That being said she stands a good chance of walking off with the Senate seat that may be vacated by Ted Stevens. If she's smart she'll stay out of it in 2012 and focus on 2016 (unless Obama's presidency is truely disasterous).

    Didn't Frank Murkowski appoint his Daughter (over Will Stevens) to the remainder of his term once he became Governer? Or did Alaska recently change its law to prevent just this sort of thing?

    Many Alaskans would vote for a Sled dog if it had a R next its name on the ballot. It wouldn't suprise me if they reelect Stevens - then Sarah Palin would appoint his successor. Sarah may be going to Washington after all. Somehow I just don't see her appointing Cathy Murkowski ...

    They could go to Fairbanks, AK (technically temperate sub arctic) - there's enough electricity (not as cheap as teh Hood River, OR site they currently use). It's plenty cold, there's a well educated and underutilized labor pool there, and good fiber optic networks exist between Fairbanks and Seattle/Tokyo.

    I was living out on Murphy Dome. And yes hauling water is a bitch. All of you would use a lot less water if you had to load your car with 5 Gal containers and carry these along a snowy path to your abode.

    I lived "off the grid" for a while in Alaska. One thing I realized was that you could do pretty much everything you do now with a lot less electricity. Thats an important skill when you only get 2-3 hours of daylight for a good chunk of the year.

    Real goods catalog is also a good source of info. I hooked up my cabin in Alaska from them. It worked well in the months there was sunlight.

    I'm sure that AMD is feeding this down to their channel partners. It's a program and if you follow the rules you get to use the logo and they send you some sales literature.

    Why on earth do you need a 5600+ to feed an ATI 3650 graphics card??

    Wouldn't an old UPS have circuits similar to what the OP was looking for. They sense when the grid goes down (and supply power) it seems like a starting point anyway. You could Use your self generated power to run your computer.

    Another Homebrew project would be growing Algea to get the oil out of it. You could then turn it into biodiesel and burn it in your oil furnace / mix it 10% with gas and use it in your car / run anything diesel you may have.

    We discovered that things tended to come in discreet objects. We invented the Integers to model and enumerate them. We discovered basic truths about these integers - like there's no square root of 2.

    They don't care about the thumbnails driving people to their sites. These guys have already figured how to get the free teaser material out on Google and protect the rest of the content. They are trying to shape public opinion so they are on the side of right thinking moral Americans so that when the government gets around to making some laws about this the laws will come down on the search engines and not on the webmasters of the porn sites.

    When I was your age we didn't have the internet. We had to steal Playboy magazines from our parents and like it! ... I'm pretty sure if I was an adolescent today I'd figure a way to get porn no matter what Google did.

    Another salient FACT is the FACT that the next President will be Republican. Both Obama and Clinton have far too many people who hate them for either of them to win the General Election.

    Capitalization doesn't change your opinion to fact.

    Certainly you can find an equally large number of McCain haters - just listen in to Brother Rush some morning. And the Baptist base of the moral majority think that Romney is a heretic. And these are people inside the power base of the republican party.

    The people that hate either Obama or Clinton aren't likely Democrat voters anyway.

    After a bit you will have so many bottles that you start giving them away to other home brewers. I have kegs now - I just dont mess with bottles any more. I'm happier that way.
