Right to free speech only has to do with the government? Now let me tell you something jerk, read the court cases. Practically all of them have to do about private issues.
And come to think of it, you ought to learn to read in general. Because most of what you are accusing me of posting I never wrote. Come to think of it, that is the main factor of mental illness, or should I be polically correct, lol, and say special needs. You appear to have a lack of reality concerning me, and if this is the case in general, sounds like you need the shrink.
I will make one point, though, to third party readers, but not to you because you're too stupid to understand. When I go swimming, I go to swim, not pick up ladies. When I go to the bookstore, I go to browse books, not socialize. Oh you can meet nice people and make friends. In fact got acquinted with over 50 people swimming and a bookstore manager wants to hang out with me when I'm there, and no it's not to sell me books. He just moved to town. But the primary purpose of these activities is to swim or browse, not devote all my attention to some screwed up person. And believe me they are at both places. And they are also on mmorgs, like you.
Hey, you never told me if you are a stupid broad or a wannabe. And what part of the USA do you come from? But it doesnt matter. Wouldnt know if you were telling me the right answer or not. And come to think of it, lol, neither would you. Have a fun week. Or at least try to.
You must be one of those stupid broads that dont like being called stupid broads. And if not you're in the wrong gender.
To begin with jerk, I never complained about not getting xp. And it wasn't 10 sec breaks, but some girl trying to talk to me on private chat through a whole mission, and half the time they weren't on the team.
I had no problem getting along with players. In fact you could say being nice was my problem, in the sense that plenty of girls wanted to make that connection.
But it sounds like you had some problems. Teams on COH were great for getting xp in missions and tf's. Last year was on great teams, and we got tf's done in 2 hours. And guys did talk and have lots of fun doing tf. In fact today played with great team, just like old times. But those regretfully are few and far between today.
It would have been nice discussing gaming with you, but your inaccurate insults make that difficult. Yes, I know what you want to say, the phrase "stupid broads" is also insulting. But I was using the word in a broad sense and not necessarily talking about womenhood in general. But then I dont have defend my right to free speech. You can take your political correct bs and shove it.
You seem like a dedicated gamer, and I have had great fun playing with "real" gamers.
The reason why EQ and City of Heroes blew it is because they drove away all the good gamers.I've heard this first hand about EQ, and observed it myself on COH. Haven't played WOW yet, but from what understand, they haven't missed a step.
As for COH, it has now mostly a bunch of idiots that dont have the first conception of team play. In short they are mostly a lot of wining babies, and will get flamed for this, plenty of them are stupid broads. How do I know they are girls/ women? Because they seem more interested in making a connection, like exchanging phone numbers or email addresses. And most of them have problems that you could really care less about. After all the game is suppose to be to have fun, not play Psychiatrist. Wonder if the Sims has a psychology character?
No Jobs is not perfect. But from my own experiences with him, he is quite enlightned and intelligent. And actually a pretty nice guy. Oh yeah he has a temper. But it usually has to do with flagerant stupidity. I have the same attitude about dummies. So maybe I can sympathize more with Steve's impatience.
And there is one other thing about him that is different then the the Microsoft credo. He really cares about what he does and wants to have a good product. In fact, unfortunately that is probably his Achilles heal. He is a perfectionist. Like so many others that pioneered the computer.
If Ballmer is wondering why Microsoft is loosing people to Google, maybe he should just look in the mirror. One of the first rules of good management is to never loose your temper. Of course I am assuming that chair throwing incident is true. And statements like burying people can get you in a lot of trouble also in court.
But what the hell. It's Microsoft. They can get away with anything. Just look how they handled the Federal government. And then again, just look at how China handled Microsoft. You'd think our own government could have done better.
It's not "as mild as you can go". They still got 15 hours community service. I can understand the defense attorney cutting a deal. You never know how a trial is going to turn out.
But then it sounds like somebody with the authorities had some brains. If this case had been brought before a legitimate court, with a decent, intelligent, and fair judge, there was most likely a high probability it would have been thrown out. For example, did these kids even commit a crime? Did they have intent? Or for that matter did they even have knowledge of the law allegedly broken? And before some wiseasss, like the jerk that commented to me about free speech, tells me ignorance of the law is no excuse, let me reply. Yes, ignorance of the law is no excuse, but lack of knowledge is. There's plenty legal precedent on this.
And then there's that poor smuck that they are "expected to proceed". Sounds like he's going to be the fall guy.
Well, if it's the stupidist thing you ever heard, I suggest you read up on the current US law and US Supreme court decisions for over 30 years. Your crowded theatre argument is an ancharcism, and actually was used by Justice Holmes as a hyperbole and a specious analogy to suppress someone's free speech. That yelling fire in a theatre has to do with a seperate body of law, like terristic threatning.
The defamation law today leans toward free speech, and the reason is what I originally stated. The interests of free speech are much more imporant than somebody's hurt feelings. Oh there are a lot exceptions to this general law, but it has to be quite vicious and quite damaging, and the exceptions many times are quite narrow and qualified. And when it has to do with public figures, issues, and politics, there are no exceptions. Free speech rules.
And the present case, as I understand it, in Slashdot, had to do about someone giving an evaluative opinion about a product. And that too bro is free speech with what I recall are no exceptions.
See I may not like a fool like you calling me stupid. But it is your right. Unfortunately there are a lot of wackos out there that make a lot of noise that obscure the imperative issues in a democracy. But if they werent allowed free speech, then none of us would have it. Paying too much attention to them is the real culprit, but then that is another issue.
Please try not to abuse your freedom too much in the future, and understand that tolorance of others thinking will make life better for all of us.
Actually, they're the same thing. If you have to worry about consequences, then you dont have free speech.
If the rich can sue you for opening your mouth, you dont have freedom of speech. And trust me, I have been around some of the mega rich. They are wackos beyond our wildest imagination.
Better to ere on the side of free speech so we can keep all our freedoms.
"The public interest takes precedence over the private"-Plato
Dont worry. NateTech and all the other 60+ year old Ham radio men will be out there doing Morse Code. The only problem is, no one will be able to understand them.
Well, Nate, this is the best opportunity you cw hypers have to prove you're right and show the nefarious FCC they're wrong.

You say very close to the worse case scenario. How close really? Reason ask, is that before this hit, recieved 2 emails from "information sources", saying if worst case happened it would be a national and world economic catastrophe.
The reason it would be a catastrophe, supposedly, has not much to do with New Orleans- but with the Port of Louisiana, or Mississipi, I cant remember which.
When I was 11, my father told me never to argue with anyone about religion or politics.
I saw JZs website, and do think the guy is a little scary as far as religion goes. But then it is a free country, and people should have the right to believe in anything they want.
Hey, it's suppose to be a tech forum. Let's learn what we can from JZ. No one says we have to be converted.
If someone knows so much about a subject and is not certified, what is the big deal about taking the test and being certified? After all, since they are so knowledgeable, the test should be a snap.
Am certified myself, and can tell you the test is just a bear minimum foundation. There is so much to learn beyond the test. Yes, there are plenty of dummies out there that are certified. But that doesnt mean the ones that arent certified are not dummies. Unfortunately for the uncertified ones, the ignorance approaches 100%.
And usually the uncertified ones are busy telling you how much they know and how little you know. Then they come running to you, literally, to fix the disaster they created. Regretably, more than a few actually run departments.
It's PBS. What else should we expect?
Hey, what server do you use to play COH? I have some 50s heroes, and a great SG. Are you going to buy the beta for City of Villans which has just come out?
Agree with most of your opinion. And as for wild speculation, we wouldn't have very many great discoveries or insights without it.
You know it's hard to express anything to you, because it's like trying to discuss something with a three year old. You're not a know-it-all? How come you know everything about me, when you actually know nothing? I dont agree with you, so that makes me a complainer.
Do you know more than me? Possably. But then I know enough to know how little I know. And I do know this. I am still a fool in some things, like wasting my time replying to you.
Too many girls/women know my Slashdot handle, so I wont get into this. However I will make a few comments.
First what is the researchers' definetion of intelligence. The word has several meanings. Second, what population sample was used for the research? Was it people in Ulster? If so, I dont know how they could determine anyone there was intelligent, male or female.
But seriously, there have been very good scientific studies on brain sex differences. It isn't a question of intelligence in these studies, just that men and women have more or less of one skill or emotion than the other gender, usually. Heck, if the someone has brains, they have brains, regardless of who they are. The rest is just raciest/sexist bullshit on both sides of the dispute.
Believe me, it isnt only the IT department. In a different profession worked for a large organization, and got paid big bucks as manager of a division of a department. The problem was that the department head was stupid and ignorant. This made him hyper insecure, and he tried to compensate for this by being manipulative, both inside and outside his department.
Unfortunately, what is probably happening where you work is that the owners dont know anything about IT and believe this guy's bs. At least that was how it was where I worked. And the hilarious thing was that this girl and I, both licensed professionals, were hired to clean up this smucks mess. Problem was he wouldn't let us because he was afraid how it would make him look.
My advice. Quit. If you are good, you will find a happy situation. That's what I did for less money, and I never regreted it.
Well I wont hammer you. But there is one problem with your suggestion.
You allow email addresses. Now with this email address, there can be an attachment, which then can open up the rest of the USA internet. In fact, if the US actually closed off Chinese addresses, someone in China could just use a web proxy or other means to get around the filter.
And in fact a web proxy in another country might be what the Chinese government would do to cover their tracks. No intelligence service, except maybe the CIA or those dummies at the Pentagon, would be stupid enough to use their own country as a base in intelligence gathering operations.
Seems I read somewhere, maybe Slashdot, about al Quida using China to hack. Could this be what's going on?
The internet is too open and porous. You cant block access, even in China believe it or not. Ancient history, but in the first Gulf War, US military tried to block Iraq's access to the internet. It didnt work. Today it is probably exponentially more difficult.
I think you are being too kind about this individual. When/if you read his reply to me, you will probably have a better idea what kind of character he is.
Except for that, I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, I think things have gotten so bad there are no alternatives.
Well yeah, gee, I guess if I was looking for organic T-shirts, I might find the business you're hyping.
But I happen to wear more than T-Shirts. The question was about clothes in general. And what is this thing you have about Walmart? Nobody is talking about Walmart except you.
But you are right about one thing. I am too busy to waste anymore time writing to some narrowminded, myopic know-it-all. Have fun chopping cotton .:)
What you call "bitching" is free speech. And free speech can be the beginning of change.
Nice of you to stick up for all those helpless rich people. I'm sure they need it.
Where can you can you buy clothes that aren't imported? Like many things today in this country, I don't think we have a choice anymore.
Hey, I apologize also. As La Rouchfacauh said, "Quarrels would seldom last long if the wrong were only on one side.".
You're not the first that has said the same thing about Klept. He was a Greek revolutionary hero from the 1800s.
Appreciate the info on Japanese proverbs. Thanks.
Good luck in finding the quote I gave. Being that the translation is from the 1930s or 40s, it may have been very adulterated. Not sure how serious they were about Asian studies back then.
See you on Slashdot.:)
