Storing all your important corporate information on a Google hosted service is like storing all your bananas on the Planet Of The Apes.
That having been said, I'd rather Google's apes sniff my bananas than MonkeySoft's apes. A segment of the company I toil for was using JotSpot prior to the buyout and if Google can do a fair job of integrating their search and Google Docs apps into the service, they could potentially have a strong contender in the information management space.

It would be helpful to include your own background when doing a review. While I know not everyone works with SQL every day, it might help to put the review into context if we knew what level of technical or development experience the reviewer had. It would make it easier to possibly recommend the book to others if we knew what background the reviewer had in relation to those we might possibly recommend the book to.
I agree. How is Wi-Fi any different than a TV with cable that has been setup in a business these days. Chances are, the Wi-Fi is going to be cheaper than the cable TV service. With the number of bars, pizza places, sandwich shops, etc that have cable TVs in them these days, I see where free, dependable Wi-Fi access available in these same busines cannot be far behind.
The article author mentions they are considering J2EE, not desktop Java. Please don't mix those two things up. J2EE is server side Java and even desktop Java (J2SE) Swing based apps are pretty snappy these days if written correctly. Look at IntelliJ Idea editor as an example of a desktop Java app that responds well. For non Swing based desktop Java apps that respond well look to Eclipse with its SWT implementation as an example.
But please, do not confuse J2SE and J2EE in terms of performance.
You might try EzPrints.com. You can send them your digital images, specify sizes, qty, etc and they will send you your prints in about five business days. Several of the other print from the web type sites actually use EzPrints as their fulfillment mechanism.
I guess the good old days of that $49.95 Turbo Pascal are long gone. Yeah, I know it's not the same thing but I really wish someone would put out good, commercial, no-nonsense development environments at a very reasonable price again like back in Phillipe Kahn's days at Borland. At those prices, a fledgling developer could afford to get their feet wet in fringe platforms like Prolog, C, C++, Pascal, etc. Even Utah COBOL (at $19.95) was worth a look at those prices when mainframe software houses like CA and IBM were charging very big bucks for thier compilers and environments.
Please do not lecture me on open source alternatives. I love open source like a fat kid loves cake but what I'd really like to see is a commercial vendor bring their prices back to earth and win over some new programming fans along the way. More specifically, someone other that Micro$oft.

And Word Perfect was still # 1 in certain business sectors like the legal profession for a long time after MS Word appeared. For the longest time, you couldn't swing a dead cat in a law office without hitting someone using Word Perfect. Now, it;s just the opposite.
Why ? I think, in all honesty, it had to do with an ever increasing number of clients and fellow firms sending stuff (attachments) over in MS word format. Eventually that snowball could not be stopped. Why so many users of MS Word ? Look at the PC + Windows + MS Office bundle deals being sold by companies like Dell and Compaq at the time to so many law firms. Word Perfect simply could not compete with that. The question is, were they ALLOWED to compete with that ?
I'll second the pMachine recommendation. It's latest incarnation called ExpressionEngine adds on to the pMachine feature list and provides caching of dynamic pages and other enhancements that make it very scalable for large communities or news sites in addition to the simple blogging aspect of what you are looking for.

I bought this book a few weeks ago and the section on keeping your images from being bulk downloaded alone was well worth the cost of the book in terms of what it will probably save me in bandwidth charges.
Why do I think that even if someone could buy one, that they would not stand a chance of having it arrive at home successfully ?
Maybe we should put Fed-Ex in charge of delivering these things to Mars. I can hear the commercial now. "Fed-Ex...When it absolutely, positively needs to get there overnight. In one piece. Without exploding, vaporizing, bouncing off the atmosphere or being driven into the ground due to metric/standard conversion issues"

....There is also a theory that this has already happened.
Always...
The free version of Trillian is called Trillian Basic and is available here.

How long before someone makes a computer out of Soylent Green ?

Badum, dum. Thank you ladies and gentelmen. Remember to try the veal and don't forget to tip your wait staff on the way out tonight.

Will there be pic-a-nik baskets in the parkon Mars ?
Never misunderestimate the power that reading has on the developing brain of a child. Or a President.
God, I hope that doesn't mean that we get Sally Fields as Trillian !

Actually, no you can't, at least not anymore with Photoshop CS (the latest version) which contains technology to stop this very thing from happening.
