In honor of Harry Randall Truman, I will scoff at this impending iGoogleocolypse which some claim will take my home. Despite this 2 day countdown, I don't have any idea whether it will cease to show. Ain't gonna hurt me... boy.
Note that this was signed the week after the boston bombings, two days after Ibragim Todashev was killed by the FBI. They were likely trying to follow various other related leads.
Also of note: - This document is top secret, not to be declassified until 2038, so close your eyes.
I would argue that he may have done a great deal of damage. Releasing plans for future products can tip off competitors. Information regarding future products can also result in a customer not purchasing what is currently available in anticipation for a future product. Both of these can mean millions of dollars in losses for a company.
Correct. From my experience, any petitions which reach their quota are honored with a well-written response from the white-house saying: "You are wrong."
"I really do not know if it is worth the effort at this point" - If the site creator isn't willing to respond to a few hundred emails, then the business probably wasn't worth much to them to begin with. Responding to the complaints "individually" doesn't mean having a full on conversation with each person complaining either. If you don't want to respond each person, then just switch to a different host: problem solved!
In that case, perhaps all GPL licensing can be circumvented by only distributing the software via a virus. "Click Here to begin infecting your computer with the latest version!"
Does a virus spreading itself really count as "distribution" under the GPL? It could be argued that copying itself (sometimes to places it isn't wanted) is just the normal execution of this particular program (which the GPL always allows), not a proper "distribution".
Also note that culture can be influenced by many different directions. Hideo Kojima, whom some of you may know, appears to have felt a similar burden: "If our children today don't have any dreams, we creators are guilty for not giving them dreams. We are culpable. We must create a dream to leave behind for the sake of our children." -Hideo Kojima-
Their site http://www.raspberrypi.com/ has had the same "Down for Maintenance" message for at least a month. Is it actually possible to purchase one of these (in the US)?
Unless these laws only specify rights, and not restrictions, then creating laws will only create further restrictions on freedom.
Let freedom be access to all values in a set. Let a law define a subset of freedom. Laws do not define additional freedom, but rather restrict it. If laws are added continuously, without removing laws, you are left with the intersection of all of these laws, which will get narrower and narrower (smaller subset). Advocating the creation of laws should be frowned upon. We should advocate the removal of laws and addition of rights.
First off, Kennedy did not look 66 prior to death and Obama has said "My grandfather was gray by the time he was 29 [...] So I figured it was going to come. It just happened to coincide with the presidency." Perhaps you are the one who is "morally bankrupt and personally repugnant" for discriminating based on age and looks. I am in my twenties and care more about a candidate's political beliefs than appearance. I am not trying to elect a movie star and I hope that enough voters will side with me on that.
The US government doesn't need money from the companies... that's what printers are for.

Sorry, but the way the US political class appear to act is absolutely fucking pathetic.
Thanks for this insightful outside perspective; our beer goggles must be deceiving us.
why did they hire them in the first place?
They didn't hire these people; they bought companies for their technologies, brands, etc. and then got rid of the extra employees.

Betas wasn't too horrible. It was a bit cliché, but entertaining and applicable to the entrepreneurial/tech crowd.

Yeah, but if it's Friday, and I want a book, even with Amazon Prime I have to wait until Tuesday or so.
Can I have my bookstores back now?
All of the new costly equipment has to keep working with the old costly equipment.
read this as "Gut Bacteria Cocktail May End Need for Facial Transplants"? I was a little excited.
If this helps to prevent one more product from implementing the concept of poking, the patent system may just be worth it after all.
trying to get through airport security. I swear, I bought it at the store! I have no idea what this device is! I've never seen it in my life before!
NOAA too - I think they are often overlooked.
OSU is Oregon State also.
They don't set policy.

Based on the documents, it looks like Facebook even was able to provide deleted wall posts and friends.
