    MS ties users to windows by the applications. If the applications (FOSS) also run under another OS then switching to linux or another OS later is not a problem.

    please, don't be such a troll. There's no conflict here, simply someone voicing his opinions about the new python version. It's his favorite language and he'd like to see it become even better.

    Just make a new language, if you want something incompatible His point is that, since Python 3000 will be incompatible with the previous versions, this is the time to make some big changes which are currently not planned.

    thanks, I already tried that but to make sure I tried it again just now, I even set xmms to -20 and both X and firefox to 19, didn't make any difference. So I'm really hoping this scheduler will help.

    actually, whenever I load amazon.com in firefox, my mp3 player (xmms) will temporarily stop playing (2.6.18 on debian etch).
    h So I, for one, would welcome our new completely fair scheduling overlords, if it can fix this annoyance!

    I might even be tempted to trying my own kernel again, it's been a while since I've done that...

    nope, running linux from a windows partition is not possible with this installer, you need the wubi installer for that, which installs Ubuntu (so this will probably also work for Debian in the future...)

    sounds more like a driver or hardware problem to me, probably not related to bioshock at all, other then triggering the problem.

    As angle of attack increases, ground speed goes down I think you mean pitch instead of 'angle of attack'

    Angle of Attack is defined as the angle between the direction of the airflow wind and the wing, and has by definition little to do with the ground speed or the wind direction.

    I think the major thing here is indeed the better development tools, with 3 architectures supported from a single code base, plus the fact that artists are given almost complete freedom. Given the fact that on most big games a lot of time is spent on getting the artwork done, I think this is quite an important improvement that many game studios are very interested in.

    Sensationalism gets readers, yes, and Dvorak knows this like no other. However it still doesn't have anything to do with FUD.

    again, it's not just just the spreading of 'fear, uncertainty and doubt' that makes it FUD, but also the goal of spreading it, which is to make people afraid or uncertain of using a competitors product.

    meanwhile, slashdot has given the GP +4 Insightfull, sigh....

    Since the wikipedia clearly says FUD is a markteting strategy the answer would be.... No.

    People often seem to mistake FUD with 'nonsense' and although spreading nonsense is usually part of a FUD campaign it's the goal of spreading the nonsense that that makes it FUD.
