Picture this: some company, a laptop manufacturer, hears about Linux and decides that it wants to sell units with pre-installed Linux. It makes some changes to the process and cranks out(for example) 2000 units. Only 22 units sell.

The company could do a few things: they could allow the other 1078 to collect dust

Personally, I would be looking to find who stole the other 900 units. Probably find them listed on ebay.

Why would you want to get rid daylight savings time?

Because it is like cutting a foot off of one end of a blanket and sewing it on the other end and expecting to get a blanket that is a foot longer. Kind of dumb. If you want to get up when it is light, get up earlier. When should we all have to move the clock back and forth? Split the difference between DST and normal time and leave it. Who cares if the sun isn't overhead at exactly noon.

I hate being turned into a Microsoft apologist on this one, but give them a break. IE8 is still beta. Comparing release quality software to beta quality software is simply unfair.

Unfortunately, Microsoft software rarely achieves "release quality". Also, a beta version is still indicative of what the final version will be like. Instead of 171 threads, maybe the release version might only have 130 or so.

HP is really terrible about this. I have a HP Pavilion tx1120 laptop with Vista (pre SP1) that used to come with XP. I bought it because I liked the way the pointing device worked and it was small. Vista was the only choice for the OS. I figured, erroneously, that if I didn't like Vista, I could just blow it away and put XP on it. After a couple of frustrating months messing around with it, I decided Vista was total crap and wanted to ditch it for XP. Ho0wever, when Vista came out, the XP drivers were suddenly not available. The worst is that there is no XP video driver for the Nvidia card. I looked all over for XP drivers and never found anything that I was convinced wouldn't leave me with a crippled computer. Complaining to HP did no good at all. Keep in mind that this same computer with the same hardware used to be available with XP pre-installed. I finally gave up and gave this POS to my girlfriend and bought something else.

Thanks HP. I love getting nothing for my money. I will never buy another HP product.
