... The problem is with outsourcing - thats where most of our jobs are going, NOT H1-Bs. And there's a big difference. H1B visas are the primary method for skilled workers to MOVE to the USA for good. This means that they come here to raise a family - they bring their knowledge and use it towards making America, their newly chosen homeland better. Then they take their savings and spend it IN America - which helps keep our internal economy running.
Now outsourcing on the other hand, takes money out of America and keeps it there. Lets not mix these two up.
Is the study trying to make some sort of a general conclusion that winners live longer than losers?.. because if all they're trying to conclude is whats stated in the headline, then I think the old adage applies:... nothing to see here.. move right along.
Its kinda funny - in 3rd world countries, kids know how to behave in classrooms by the time they hit highschool. Teachers are given both the power and the respect as parents over the kids. Some teachers are a bit violent, and some find better ways of getting accross - but kids learn how to deal with the whole variety of them.
In Canada / America (I haven't been to a British school) - by the time kids hit highschool, they 'rebel' against society. Clearly there's something wrong when highschool kids don't know where they oughta behave themselves and where they can vent and rebel.
IF anyone had doubts of bad software being harmless, think again:
"What did he say!!?? He's going to do what!?? Smoke that foo'."... That software better be good.
.. That Vonage can't retaliate by telling Comcast customers to turn off their cable modems huh? Tough shit - but I think there are grounds for a suit on false advertising no?
Why would my PS3 being kept turned on 24x7 win my heart and mind again? Because privately held research would like to use my PS3 for free and then make money from it when they discover something - without any intention to charge less $$ for the treatment / cure in exchange for all this free computing?
I guess its important for us to know this law change because of the overwhelming majority of nerds that enjoy taking their aggression out on their cock by watching violent pornography.
Honestly - since these bulbs are so efficient, shouldn't there be a government sponsorship / subsidization to make them as widely available (read: cheap) as regular bulbs? One would hope that it was be a no-brainer to include this in the energy plan - especially if we're funding experimental stuff like hydrogen powered fuelcells.
In India there's a big chasm when it comes to public sector spending in general. So IT really isn't high priority - regardless of what the perception maybe. Most of the IT spending in India is private, because the government lags far behind when it comes to creating an environment of progress.
.. is that the idea was patentable. I mean come on... a simple heirarchical tree interface got patented? Who cares if it was for an mp3 player - does that make any difference? We've had tree interfaces for a while - its how many of us organize our music libraries (virtual and physical).

I think someone that files suit should be automatically held liable for emotional harassment.
I can see this one spinning well on the popular news channels.
100% of the news must be happy!
It helps build smarter code crackers, but thats probably not what TF meant by 'innovation'.
Who'll the judge? The community?
Well the Indians are planning on making a moon trip... maybe everyone'll work together on the moon base.
Somehow neither Google nor Microsoft fall into your category of human-rights-first NGOs - it takes an almost activist agenda to pull that off.

... Maybe everone that wanted to buy an iPod already has one. The rest of us are entier indecisive or don't really care for an iPod.
A religion is a cult where the head of the cult is dead.

"I would love to see a free wireless mesh that's not dependent on any government or corporation take over the world."
So you're saying that this mesh network in Tibet isn't dependent on the Chinese government's blessing?
...carefully ;)
