the only real reason I enjoyed this game was because of the setting.
I got so sick and tired of seeing the EXACT same setting for every RPG, is there some rule when it comes to making a good RPG that says "You MUST set this in times of dragons and dungeons!"? I understand that they are all based off the D&D games but come on, do they ALL have to take place in the same time frame?
Earthbound, Secret of Evermore, Final Fantasy VI (III in the US), VII all these use the same formula but they exsist in the steam universes (where they are set in the past but have future tech) which is perfect for RPG's.
That's my reasoning for people jumping on FFVII, is that the market was getting saturated with RPG's that took place in the same time frame no matter what...kind of like now, the most popular MMORPG's seem to all take place in the same time frame when there are so many other routes they can go (and there are some that are giving it a shot).
the price seems to be the number one complaint I see when it comes to the PS3, what if it does end up costing $800 at launch from sony themselves?
Does it mean every game I get will last?
Does it mean every game I get will be original? (read not copy's of other games or endless sequals)
Does it mean I get FREE downloads of classic games? (read Xbox live arcade but free)
$400 for the 360 as it is is pushing the price point, there are gaming quality PC's that are around the same price and they can do 10x as much as the system (which requires Windows Media center edition in order to use the 360's PC hookup ability).
as it is the PS3 is rumored to be around $500 (since Sony is keeping mum about price speculation is running rampant), when the 360 launched people were MORE then generous to this mans reasoning about it being sold for to little, they were kind enough to sell it up to 4 and 5 times as much of what Microsoft set the price at.
Now the people that spent that much on the system...Are they getting some extra level of enjoyment out of the system the people that paid $400 for their system? are they getting some special deals on Xbox live that other's aren't?
Saying we should pay more for the system is just assinine what about the people who really wanted the system but couldn't afford it at a higher price? did they ever come into the logic here? for some $400 or even $300 is expensive as it is yet he want's them to pay MORE even though they can barely pay for that one now?
why not go ahead and raise the price of games while were at it? $60 is to cheap! come on, their on DUAL LAYER DVD'S! that's worth atleast $80 or $100! cutting edge next gen formats there, after all there weren't ANY games that were on dual layer DVD's this generation right? oh wait there were plenty and they somehow some way managed to sell for $50...But this is next generation shit here not that old crap that Microsoft abandoned in favor of the 360.
I say we are ripping off game companies, $60 a game is to cheap for better graphics, it should be atleast $80 so there won't be shortages of games and they will make more money on each game sold.
Maybe they are merging with G4 so they can get some users to their website?
They seem to be good at taking over tech things and getting rid of that ugly ugly word that no one cares about.
Pretty soon we should start seeing more ads (whether you pay or not) more stories about new bikinis and rap artists, Maybe a few tech story's here and there (just to give people false hope) before they start phasing it out completly in favore of being all about Music (not what rootkit/DRM is used now) Movies (who paid them the most this week) and women (cause you know, there is no such thing as Women who like Tech or video games).
China just wants to steal Google's search technology. China will try to steal anything, and everything. Maybe we will see Choogle, China's alternative to Google made with Google's code, just a different graphic.
China want's to be like Microsoft now?
You don't often hear about a country wanting to take after a corperations buisness model.
On the plus side however, since they patented it, nobody else can implement it either (at least for the next 20 years *laugh* Way to go Philips! - I knew you were looking out for the consumer!)
Atleast now we know which company to avoid now.
I can't honestly seeing other TV manufactures paying philips to lisence technology they themselves say people will dislike...and if for some reason they do, Phillips would of found that sucker born every minute.
I wonder what will happen if philips "Forgets" to take that chip out for sets in other countrys.
have you ever filled out one of the online only applications before?
I've filled out 5 of them so far (and not one has even contacted me and two of the places have big ass "NOW HIRING!" signs right where you sign up and in front of the store) and in every instance they all had the same thing in common, they asked what race & gender I was.
Now the computer might not care what skin color or biological organs you are & might have but the machine doesn't determine if you get the job or not, a human being still makes that call (though I doubt they even look at them anymore) so if you mark that you are black or white or any other race & a man or woman it still comes into play, In fact your race comes BEFORE your qualifications on the rest of the application.
Now what makes that any different from brining in a piece of paper and the one doing the hiring decides "I ain't hiring this *Insert racial slur here*" or "I ain't hiring this *Insert man/woman here* and someone filling out an electronic form and seeing that they are a certain race or certain gender and saying the same thing?
so until these online applications get rid of "What race are you" fallowed quickly by "We are an equal opportunity employer!" the race/gender issue will always come into place
It say's right up there "Last year, they [Burst.com] approached Apple, suggesting that the company pay it 2% of iTunes' revenue."
now please, tell my why they waited untill LAST YEAR to file the lawsuit or claim patent infringment? couldn't this of been done, oh I don't know, 10 YEARS ago? you know when the internet became a household thing and no one knew what a lot of that stuff was?
Hell I never heard of Burst.com till the end of last year and that's as another Youtube, Google video site only with shittier videos.
What they are doing is EXACTLY what a patent troll does, they get a patent, wait for someone to infringe on it, wait till they get built up and have a ton of cash (remember apple lost a ton years ago) and then sue sue sue!
Notice how they wan't 2% of the iTunes sales? why did they wait till iTunes came about to sue? why didn't they sue them before then? their a patent troll plain and simple, they waited this long to claim foul they shouldn't get shit.
please do tell what the price of the PS3 is going to be.
what's that? you say SCEA hasn't announced a price yet? bullshit! you just said with certainty that the PS3 will be a high price.
please, get your head out of your ass before you post, SCEA or any of the SCE haven't announced a price for the system. You have Ken saying it will be 50,000 yen, an analysist firm giving us TWO price points of $497 and then suddenly $900 (without any reason as to why it suddenly jumped in price), and the Euro Vice president being misunderstood when he was saying prices.
remember the analysist firm said the 360, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, PSP, DS and so on would cost well over what they actually do?
Not bad for a company many people figured would be out of the games buisness after the gamecube & GBA.
Once Sony announced the PSP all I ever say was "Nintendo is doomed!" "Sony's going to pwn their asses!" and so on and so forth, yet every article about the PSP & DS the DS is ALWAYS beating the PSP, simple reason to Nintendo has always made the system for cheap but not TO cheap.
no console has sold for more then $199.99 (I might be mistaken on the ones that came with a game, but back in the 80's with the NES my parents got my sister and me the NES with Mario, Duck Hunt & Track & Field (or whatever it was called) with the light gun and power pad for $199.99, same with the SNES when it was released with 2 controllers & Super Mario World) even their handheld systems sell for cheap (The DS is the only one to start off at $149.99 and is basically their most expensive system).
in the end Nintendo is usually posting profits for the year (their quarter profits are hit and miss though) while Microsoft and Sony (who are big on overloading a system with a lot of extra features that usually don't need to be there in the end) post losses almost every single time (though their end of year profits are usually up).
not bad for a company a good chuck of people thought would be gone after the gamecube.
one thing that is helping them (aside from owning the format, thus not paying any lisencing fees) is that they sell the UMD by itself but they also sell them with the DVD release, this appeals to people more at one single price instead of it being two seperate prices for the same movie.
cause really, when a DVD movie with tons of features and the ability to watch it on your TV without any special hookups only costs $19.99 and a UMD movie without any special features or anything unique about it and you need to spend quite a bit to watch them on your TV and it costs $23.99 something just doesn't look right to the consumer.
but say you can get both the UMD & the DVD for one price (say $24.99) that appeals to the consumer more, cause you can watch your favorite movie on DVD then if you have to go somewheres before you get to finish it you just take the UMD version along with you and pick it up right where you left off.
a lost sale to a company (regardless of the true reason) get's packed together under piracy so they can go "SEE! our products are PERFECT! everyone is just pirating them!" even though it could be only like %10 of the total number is piracy.
we should only have to wait another console generation before they get it together (reffering to PS4, Xbox 720, Nintendo Mindblower).
I remember (and still have it) where one of the blizzard games has an advert for Diablo II coming in I think it's 1997, the game was finnaly released in 2000.
Ghost was announced back in what? 2001? went through two production companies and 3 engines (IIRC) only to be canned again. so IF they were to ever do a world of starcraft or starcraft II we wouldn't see any word of it before 2010 (or when World of Warcraft starts to tank) at the rate blizzard works.
so they are calling for a do over...Game informer actually got it right in their Game Infarcer joke section...that's sad.
I wonder if they will call for a third try when the Mistwalker RPG's are released and 99 knights come out.
Oh wait, Tom Clancy's Ghost recon Advance warfighter is just now getting released in japan? Hell I can understand why they want a do over, That game is really going to push 360's in japan, Everyone knows how well FPS' are recived in japan after all.
I don't want the FCC or Congress telling me what I can and cannot see or do online.
you mention this and it got me thinking, Isn't China doing this EXACT same thing? they are telling their people what they can see and what they can do online...Didn't the government wag it's finger at Google, Yahoo & MSN for giving into China's demands for censorship?
Did the US government suddenly have a change of heart and decided that censorship is the way to go? That they to should get in on some of that action all in the name of "protecting the children"?
how long before they take care of that pesky first amendment bullshit law the forefathers put in (they didn't know what they were thinking when they wrote that), leave us with the right to bare arms so we can continue to protect ourselves from the threat of british invasion (It's coming, their poised to strike!) and to hunt for our own food (those supermarket things are on their way out you know) it just sucks this administration can't run again, if they just had one or two more chances they could take away so many more freedoms from us, To bad they haven't slipped an amendment under the radar to let them stay in power for a few more years.
The FTC is going to be in a world of hurt if they manage to pass any form of censorship law on the internet in the US, they can say "it's all in the name of children" all they want but when you piss off that many people from looking up anything they want (you'd be suprised how many people would snap if they couldn't get to their porn, not to mention how many "Amature" porn stars would suddenly have to get REAL JOBS!).
a 10th generation Analog copy will be able to be copied for 10 generations. at the rate Digital signal's are going you will be lucky to make a first generation digital signal copy.
yes but all microsoft has to do is either update the 360 or the PC (or both) and just add in that it has to be signed code from microsoft in order to stream to the 360.
it's prickish but then again it is microsoft, plus if you get the right lawyers nintendo could sue microsoft fot allowing it to happen (another company did this).
the only real reason I enjoyed this game was because of the setting.

The Canadians show how they are smarter and think clearer then Americans.
Also to add on (Slashdot needs an edit button) Why isn't Burst.com suing Google, Youtube and any other video hosting service on the net?
They are ALL infringing on the patent, yet they only chose to go after the guys with the deep pockets.
Burst.com IS being a patent troll.

the best buy ad has the discs (only three listed) at $24.99 & the player at $499.99
dunno about that but the Navy has mutated seabass that are agitated.

well my dad told me they are expecting gas prices to be well over $3 a gallon come this summer.
so by next summer of next year I am willing to bet that it will be very close to $5 a gallon, with the year after that finnaly hitting $5 a gallon.

Minidisc didn't fail in other country's either...
oh that's right, I forgot America is the only place companies sell stuff, my mistake.
don't you know? they bundle them together.

just throw a couple wads of cash at them, they won't bother looking into any wrong doings.
