missing the holiday sales season, to the chagrin of personal computer makers and electronics retailers -- and those computer users eager to move up from Windows XP, a five-year-old product.
I like how they say it's a five year old product, like it's some ancient relic from a bygone era.
In those five years, Apple Computer has turned out four new versions of its Macintosh operating system
and only at a cost of $100 a pop to, isn't that nice of them? why make an OS that CAN last for 5 years, when you can just one day release an update, charge $100 for it and stop supporting the old version completly, when people ask why just say "Cause it's old, shut up". That's the one thing I like about windows, cause like with consoles they don't charge you for updates (because it adds a lot to it! other then windows 95se & 98se but that was because they were major fuck ups in so many ways that at the time since we didn't have broadband so the updates would of taken weeks (if not months) to get) and their OS will last for a few years, much better then having to buy a new OS every year.
anything older then 2 versions is considered jurrasic, anything over 3 is ancient and anything over that is completly obsolete...to bad developers don't get that little factoid, their bastards for actually caring about budget gamers and ones who don't rush out to upgrade their systems.
CURSE THEM I SAY!!!
yes that part about developers was a joke, I was shocked to see I can run Half-Life 2 on almost high settings with my Radeon all in wonder 9200.
Because Sony is Evil and they won't let that one screw up go?
it's just like when there is a story posted about Windows, people jump right in with the same dead horse routine about how "Windows is the Sux! Linux RLZ!" without even reading the article, hell one time I did see someone say "Xbox sux! Linux Rlz!" and get modded UP for it!
no one belive there are devisions to a company, when one part of the company does something bad then the whole company is to blame, but the odd thing is...Everyone blames sony for the root kit thing but would it of been an issue had it not been for Windows? if windows didn't auto run installers without you knowing people might of known about that little peice of software being installed without your permision. also don't forget starforce "copy protection", if you want to talk about hidden rootkits you should look no further then them, the latest one now supposedly just reboots your system without even asking you to save any work you might of been doing when you go to burn a regular disc/DVD of a movie YOU made YOURSELF.

There is no way to support a PAL signal under NTSC. It must be converted to NTSC.
odd, ever since hooking up my PS2 to the RGB connection I have 0 problems playing a Pal game on my NTSC TV.
I use the Swap magic discs and don't even change the resolution to NTSC anymore (it makes it off center to a horrible degree) I tried this out with 3 different games, when I selected NTSC it moved half the picture to below the Screen, when I left it alone it was perfectly centered.
and this is a $129.99 20" TV I got at walmart. Now I have a hard time beliving that if a $130 TV can support Pal without any problems or modifications that would allow me to Force NTSC display, That a TV that costs 10x as much with the same connection and better can't do the samething.

then explain to me how Fox news is "Fair and balanced" when their own "Reporters" will interupt their "guests" when they are trying to explain their side?
I somehow managed to make it through one episode with these to jackasses who think they are the greatest thing to happen to news, they had an Atheiest on to explain why there are athiests. Every single time the man tried to explain it one of the wacko's would interupt him and belittle him, then when they finnaly shut up and he would start to explain it again the other would butt in.
at the end of the interview it was sad and pathetic, both of them thought they really one upped the guy and looked so smug and proud about what they had just done.
then there was another time I cought them, they were even WORSE that time then they were during the athiest "interview", at the end when they had clearly lost the debate they just came back and said "Well that's your opinion" but in a tone that was "Yeah, well fuck you asshole".
Fair and balanced my ass, it's either their way or no way and if you don't fallow their way they will get their "Friend" to kill you.
after getting the PS2 I had 0 intention of ever playing online, I only got the online adapter to get codes for my Action Replay Max (which was a major waste of money) in the time I got the network adapter till I got a slimline PS2 I played a grand total of 7 games online and this is over the course of about 4/5 years, now I've played almost 300 other games on the PS2 but only 7 online (either because it was worth playing online or my friends had it) now would I of paid $50 a year to play against people who feel the need to shout out "YOU CHEATING FAG!!!!" after getting beat? or have them cheat at some point in the game?
sure that $50 a year get's you a more stable online enviornment but doesn't it make the dumbasses on the other end smarter and actually competative? or is it just $50 to get them to annoy you faster?
the problem with those numbers is they ALWAYS say "30 million Xbox's sold" yet that's world wide, then when they say "2 million are on Xbox Live" they refer to the US only, so naturally those numbers get borked...cause as we know the only people online in the entire world is in the US, no one else is online at all.
1: It deals with Technology and patents (a lethal combo)
2: It was a US judge (remember they don't understand technology and don't have to)
3: The Judge probably got one of the "rootkit" CD's and is taking it out directly on Sony.
there is also the possible #4: the judge just hates the japanese, but that one is a bit of a stretch.
but back to it being a US court, if the judge had allowed the one who invented the technology to speak Immersion wouldn't have a case any longer and would go out of buisness (in the Judges mind) where as Sony could afford to lose money.
the thing I am wondering though, is why it took Immersion 7 years to file the patent infringment suit, it's not like Sony was trying to hide how the controller worked, anyone who took it apart could see it. If you owned a patent for something and someone came out with a product that featured things your patent (and Product, I say that's how the patent should work) has wouldn't you be just a tad bit curious about it?

However, unions currently are invloved in the setting of wages and benefits, which goes againsts free markets. The market determines what the wage of an employee is, not the unions. Allowing them to do so has caused serious harm to companies. Consider the U.S. Steel industry as an example. The U.S. Steel industry went out of business in part because their labor was 30% overpriced when compared to the market price. When asked for concessions during the tough times of the 1970s and 1980s, the unions refused and U.S. steel makers closed a large amount of plants.
you forgot the key part of that, everyone blamed the steel mills for closing, no one blamed the union for screwing over both sides and forcing the mill to close.
that's the thing I hate when it comes to unions, everyone blames the company for outsourcing or just outright closing, yet the Union that was a MAJOR factor in it just walks away like nothing happened.
I remember reading a news story from around where I live and it said that a local company was in talks with a Union, they wanted more of everything (even though the employees were making like $25 an hour and had FULL benafits) the company said they could not afford to keep everyone hired if they got more money and benafits, so the Union said everyone strikes. A couple months later while still on strike the company said they had no choice but to outsource overseas if they wanted to stay in buisness, naturally the members of the union got VERY pissed so the union suddenly changed it's tune and was ready to give up stuff but by then it was to late, they had already signed deals with the overseas company and everyone who was involved with the union that forced them to strike for no reason other then greed lost their jobs, that is the only time I have read or heard the media say the union was to blame for everyone losing their jobs and not the buisness itself held to blame for outsourcing.
that is what microsofts problem is, they made a PC into a Console, what Microsoft needs to do is try and get games to be truely exclusive to the system, no more PC releases of a game (or atleast try to get a years worth of exclusivity that way people don't say "I'll get the PC version").
Sony & Nintendo have games that would be alittle hard to play with a keyboard and mouse, Microsoft has to many games that could easily be played with a keyboard and mouse (and in some cases play BETTER with a keyboard and mouse).
now I wouldn't count Microsoft out just yet but they did pick a bad time to release the 360 (no one was ready for it, not even microsoft), game publishers are losing money on it, microsoft is losing money on it and everyone who want's one is having a hard time getting one. If they had just waited to start making the system now and release it this winter they would of been in a much better standing (cause you know Sony is going to wait till the last possible minute to start manufacturing PS3's which will result in a massive shortage just like Miscrosoft with the 360) and it will give whomever decides to make a system EASY to make (aka Nintendo) a major advantage cause they can make them in no time cause it's not filled with tons of crap people propably could careless about.
when the PS3 and Revolution comes out Microsoft will have a hard time if they are still having trouble making the 360, Nintendo though might have the advantage, you KNOW there is going to be a shortage of PS3's when it's released (that's a given, after the PS2 that is the trend they will go) and if Microsoft is in the same boat they are in now (problems making the 360) then Nintendo will be the only one there easily for parents to pick up during the holiday season.
well it's easy to get around that prior art crap, let's just convince the government they will have to change the way they work if they allow the backteria to have prior art.

I can See Edios doing tons of spinoffs about lara and maybe even a remake on a future handheld.

as for quicktime, I have used it the most for streaming movies, never given me a problem, no errors no scripting problems nothing and that works perfectly fine for me.
