You dont pay your water bill by your pipe-diameter
Actually, here in Jacksonville FL, the charged rate is based on the size of the meter, which is based on the size of the pipe. The larger the meter, the more flow, and the higher rate.
It's not uncommon to put a 3/4" meter on a 1" pipe to get a slightly better rate
Also, regular cars are susceptible to roof crush, like swept back windshields and convertibles. The current 1.5 ratio of weight to crush pressure is not SUV specific.
The frequency of rollover is only a fraction of other accidents: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_accident The high fatality rate form rollover comes from ejection (not wearing seatbelt), not from roof crush. See same link.
It is unfortunate though, that in computer vs human scenarios, the vast majority of the time humans make the mistakes, not the computers.
Is that due to the humans taking over just as soon as there is an incident and never giving the computers a chance to save the day? Good luck retraining the pilots with that.
You are thinking in terms of data from start to finish, but many types of video encoding/compression operate on the frame or relative to a frame.
One can store an entire frame in data, and the next bit of data would be the delta between the next and previous frame. Every so often the cycle restarts so that systems can cope with streaming data (you do need a least one full frame as a reference).
You can chop up the frame into many individual blocks. Do more of the same as above but on portions of the screen data.
There are many, many methods of handling video data. I'm working in the industry now, but still have yet to bend my mind around many of them, but we do have engineers whose sole job is to deal with this.
It guess it's not already enough that the interior decoration is annoying. Construction orange and bright yellow under bright lights. It's already designed to not keep people around. Could they make it any more unpalatable?
I develop "embeddded" systems for the broadcast industry. Most every piece of broadcast equipment in a satellite truck and cable head end system runs some flavor of glibc in Linux.
I quote embedded since it can mean different things to different people. We use a 233 MHz PPC processer with 128 Meg Ram which easily handles 60Mbit high-def streams. Relative to a modern desktop, our base system it is a bit light, but it's plenty enough to run the full glibc.
Today's numbers may be higher than historical numbers due to the vast number of people who continue running after recovering from surgery to correct their problems.
Sound like the "divorce" statistic that is often quoted: "50% of marriages end up in divorce". the truth is that there are just as many long term marriages as ever, but at one time divorcees did not remarry. Now it is common to remarry and (re)divorce, skewing the statistics.
Clinton lost some nominations, most notably Baird over the "nanny tax" in 1993. Many of these people on the expunged list have been around long enough to remember. Heck, Daschle was in the Senate at that time.
Umm, it's even worse than that. At lunch last Friday, my co-workers and I strolled into CC and one of us pointed out the $24.99 publisher price on the back on the printed soft-cover book "Digital Video for Dummies" while the sign above it stated "Originally 30.99, now 18.99".
Unlike a EULA, the patients are able to review the documentation before accepting treatment. If there is part of the "contract" that you do not agree to, then just pen through it and hand write an alternative. Contracts are not an all or nothing piece of printed paper. They are negotiable.
Thanks, I know how that feels. We are a small shop that develops and manufactures embedded systems. We've recently given up on any IE product since it creates more work than it's worth. Our customer base has not complained about about us "telling" them to use FF to use our product.
"but also to the tens of millions of homes with Wi-Fi access points or wired routers that use the standard method of dynamically assigning temporary addresses"
The article seems to infer this is primarily applicable to IP lease data. Doesn't make it any less annoying.
I would like to add that what I see in in republicans, or rather conservatives, being against abortion is not so much about [not] killing babies but rather about having a sense of personal responsibility. "Life" could be the ultimate responsibility of sexual activity and could serve as the ultimate deterrent to pre-marital sex. As long as there is abortion there is little at stake.
Not that I prescribe to such a system but I can appreciate the argument.
"These reports are created so that each congressman (or whoever else may need them) does not have to read every single newspaper, web site or send his staff on a search of basic statistics."
Just as well. I spooks me to this day when Tom, Katie and other anchors as stunned to learn that [some] politicians do not get their information from news outlets. They have their heads buried so deep that they can't fathom the possibility of bias such as Dan and the Bush memos: http://articles.latimes.com/2004/sep/21/nation/na-cbs21
When a politician needs information I am glad they have a source outside of the media (though it does not means it is any less biased).
Agreed. Our "small" company can't manage to find enough qualified EE, CS and IS bodies to fill positions for the past two years. I'm not sure if the fact that we are a Linux centric shop has anything to do with it. One change we have made is to embrace telecommuting.

So how do you define "shortfall" as used above?.
Using the same method the White House uses to estimate "saved jobs"?
You can do something about rollover, and we are but making anti-roll-over standards:

Just last night I found Magellan has GPS maps of some of the more popular amusement parks:

So all those people are wrong that call me "white" even though I am two parts Cherokee, one part Swedish and one part Russian?

Darn repeat offenders.
Not in all places. Jacksonville Sheriff Office (FL) has a minimum requirement of a Bachelor if no prior law enforcement experience:
http://www.joinjso.com/careers/police_officers.php
With experience it could be a low as an Associates. The side effect is that JSO has some of the highest salaries in the state of Florida.
Components or GTFO!
That's better.

Google's cache of the blog has a working link.

Are you vying for a part of the stimulus package?
And it's a Friday.

I dunno, ask GM. No customers just makes you eligible for bailouts.
"plenty of *SMALLER* companies are still hiring"

"it is hard to even find a linux netbook"
Wow, I see them in local stores, particularly Compusa (TigerDirect) and Target.
