Getting a higher percentage of brits arrested vs nationals of other countries doesn't disprove the stereotype of hooliganism, given it's a legitimate percentage.
I don't have any problem discerning the semantic difference at all. I'm just pointing out that *your argument* made no distinction because it spoke only of "ripping off the entertainment you want so you can have it with no money involved". None of that reasoning about an individual getting stuff for free has even the slightest relevance to "reproducing and distributing a million copies". You were railing against people getting stuff for free, not people handing it out.
The difference isn't semantic. It's the difference between one copy being passed around, and many copies being created.
You don't own the copyright, and you don't have permission from the owner, so you don't have rights to copy X work. You have every right to use a copy in any other manner, like passing it around to friends, just not to copy it.
Adding to this, describing the US with the term 'meek' is really pushing it. The US has lost wars politically and socially, but never because of shortcomings in combat. Even Vietnam wasn't a military loss; North Vietnam lost 5 times the number of soldiers.
Both "sides" can be vulnerable to agenda-driven manipulation and can engage in willful ignorance of important context.
Agreed. The only real legal issue was the shooting of the evac van in this case, despite the anti-war people's opinions. The other issue was the attitude of the troops; they seemed totally disconnected from what was going on. That's more of a training and "how to use technology properly" kind of issue, though.
I'm pretty sure the Geneva convention allows for the shooting of enemy combatants (which the guys with AK47s and RPGs seemed to be), while civilians who are interspersed with armed combatants aren't able to be distinguished quickly or easily without something saying "Press" or similar, which they didn't have.
The biggest problem with the incident is the shooting of the van that came to evac some of the wounded, and the general attitude of the soldiers in the helicopter.
Slavery in particular directly infringes on the rights of another person, whereas selling pornography doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights as outlined in the constitution.
Because Hitler blamed all economic woes on the Jews, people from the midwest tell stories about Jews all having horns despite having never met a Jew to know, and because people like Mel Gibson blame the Jews as a whole for the death of Jesus and depict them as animalistic savages?

It works the same, if you consider WinXP's lack of security support a non-issue.
An "amateur criminal ring", in this scenario, is 3 potheads smoking the weed they grow.
A large, well organized crime ring is a group of people powerful enough to take over a South American government by force.
You wouldn't want to distinguish between these?

It STILL takes time, resources, etc. to create the meticulously arranged bits that get copied.
It took 27 countries to make that happen.
You know how many countries comprise the US?
One.
Also, they need to deliver on the promises they're not currently making.
If you've seen the images, dispersant-laden oil ends up as globs in the water column and not on the surface of the water.

A college degree doesn't lose its value as more people get them if the educational standards don't change.
We need higher education to do the R&D jobs that robots can't do, and to maintain the complex machinery (those robots) that make our stuff.
I doubt that this information was known to any elected official.

The problem with those popups is that you usually have to scroll BACK over the button in order to get the damn box to hide again.
OMG WOOSH!
Above is an example of what should be reported, written for such a purpose as to demonstrate the insanity of the idea.
They have always been here, and the internet has no effect on them.
I call bullshit. Having the ability to get a message out to millions of people before it can be debunked is a giant effect on what they're saying.
You fail, again.
Good thing proper sanitation came about because of advances in medicine, then.
But for the higher-functioning autistic, they have the same result.
Any vehicle-related bureaucracy seems to get the lowest level of talent. Salaries must really suck or something.
FTFY.
They may still have gotten the enamel made in China, then assembled into the final glasses in Jersey, given that the company has a Chinese plant.
