It's in Missouri. Homer's security service's (SpringShield I think) phone number is +1-636-555-something, and 636 is the area code for suburbs of St. Louis.
When I was in 6th grade (in 2001/02) around 10 people in my grade played Starcraft a lot. They weren't asshats in real life, and they weren't online. So what can we assume about the people that are asshats online?
Of course, low-end broadband is 2-4 times the speed of dial-up.
I think most people on Slashdot think broadband isn't based on the connection type, but the speed - in my mind, broadband is 1.5mbps or more. 128-1536k is in an in-between range.
Best Buy has its HQ in an office park in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Due to the fact that U2 was contracting through Best Buy, is it no coincidence that the guy they sent was from the same metro?
When I was 7 or 8, I got an IQ test. I had an IQ of around 140. As far as I know, I still do - I sure don't feel smarter 7 or so years later, and I get the same standardized-test percentiles every year. I haven't gotten smarter - I've just learned more.
So maybe genius is applying your natural intelligence to your experiential knowledge?
Idiot politicians, of course.
The light-rail is noticeably faster, more used, etc. than the buses, but yeah, I think it's mostly a figurehead to get more money to... build a $2 billion commuter rail line to Elk River?
There's a reason that 70% of people use MTC because they have no other choice.
Well, Japanese trains are notorious for their punctuality. Remember the time when that one train derailed itself, crashed into a building, and killed a bunch of people just because it was trying to make up for the fact that it was a minute and a half late?
Where I live (Twin Cities, MN, USA), up to 10 minutes late is pretty normal for almost every single bus route, and our train line.
If it's $5 a GB, wouldn't that mean it'd be $150 for a 30GB? Correct me if I'm wrong. (No sarcasm intended, by the way)
Big deal.

With Gmail, and I think most of the other webmail services (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.), roughly all spam is sent to the spam folder, and I never have to look at it. So how is spam doing any significant "damage" to email? The average person probably wouldn't be annoyed by having a spam filter.
You can with Paypal. And you can change it all the time.

You're implying that they're not already?
You think that's bad?
... Yeah.
Where do you think they got the kidneys?
And what do you think they did with your eyes?

I just noticed that this wasn't trivial-semantics.slashdot.org.
Come on you guys, focus on the big picture, not the details. Who cares if it's not perfect? It gets the point across, doesn't it?
=\
If we had no backbones, how would we get across the ocean?

I thought spam was illegal. (In the US at least)
Well of course not. TPM was designed to make OS X86 unbootable on non-Apple computers, not make Apple computers only able to boot OS X.
Of course, I just booted OS X86 on my non-Apple box on Tuesday.
Ever heard of a keygen?

Sometimes I love living here.

So that's about $156.32 in the U.S.?
Inconcievable!

A sense of unfaltering optimism, of course!

But will it run Linux?
What typoes?
Seriously, where are they?
4. ???
5. Profit!
Come on, this is Slashdot. Why was this cliché not included?
It's still up to you to remember to stop playing doom 3 and go rescue your omlette from becoming a black crunchy lump.
No, it'll tell when it's done and turn off the heat, right?
