Thank god I read that wrong at first I saw Help Human Support I thought they were going to start redirecting people to the "helpful" robot in the corner which is as helpful as the automated call centers with limited responses and actual function.
I personally would use MSE for antivirus and Windows Firewall I prefer to keep things simple and this updates regularly on it's own and doesn't require you to stop and instal the program again when there is a new version or something along those lines. So your not going to be out of date, which is usually the biggest problem I see with people with antivirus programs, heck I will own up I use to do that sometimes because quite frankly I was too busy with school work to bother taking the few minutes to do that in the past.
Than you use Malwabytes Anti Malware (MBAM) to block the IPs of known bad websites and the exact way the real time protection works is made to work well with antiviruses like MBAM so it will go nicely with MSE, and it is something like $20-30 for a lifetime lisence which you can transfer from one computer to another after you take one or two steps to do so. Though the things I mentioned only work on the Pro or paid version the free version is just the scanner.
Also just a heads up when your computer slows down which most people contribute to "age" and "viruses, malware" it usually is actually from the computer auto booting too many programs and eating up resources. Quick way to fix it is to go into MSCONFIG under "Startup" and unselect the programs you don't want to start up when the computer boots up just double check things if you don't recognize it as it may be a driver or something important you need which may make a program crash.

So the best bet not to relay on software to teach your kids, and to just talk to them. And chances are if they want this stuff they can find it no matter what you do. After all nothing is really stopping them from buying the stuff at an Adult store, except the oddball cashier who may actually care their underage.
After all the Nintendo Wii appeals to all ages. In fact last December I got my grandmother who is in her 70's to play Wii Sports against my 5 year old neiphew and she beat him badly in Wii Baseball. I hate to idmit it but she would have beat me badly it took me over 20 swings for me to hit the ball in that game when I first played, while she hit a homerun on the second swing. This makes me both happy and sad because my grandma can finally beat me and almost anyone I know at this game.
I don't know why but I had to click it in AVG's place because I disabled it a few days ago. And uhh wanted to see if you were telling the truth. Hold on a sec someone is at my door...
I know with me I learned absolutely nothing and wasted time when I was forced to do those educational games back when I was in school. All it did was annoy me and most of the students (a few got something out of it). But I did learn a lot from Roller Coaster Tycoon when it first came out, so much in fact that I was probably a year or two ahead in math in terms of knowledge and how quickly I was able to do things. So it is really a per child basis on weither or not they will get something out of it, and I don't forcing these games on them in school is really the answer.
So uhh considering this is slashdot and everyone supposubly lives in their moms basement and has AT LEAST 500gigs of porn, this should be a concern for us. But than again were geeks and we don't pay for our porn, so tell me again why this is relevent.
Sadly their selection will probably be mostly educational, an not so great movies. I doubt we see the latest an greatest new movies realeases available.

So when will get these little things to replace our now exploding battiers. I'd love to just throw junk in my laptop to power it, just imagine all those pop tart an hot pocket wrappers finally being put to use to power out little portable laptop. It sure beats batteries exploding in your lap, thats for sure.
Due to blood splatter they can tell exactly where you shot him from, angle etc. From the bullet they can use it to find out what kind of bullet an if you get caught, they can check to see if it was fired from your gun from the markings left on bullet casings while fired. Blood messy. Unorginal. Harder to get away, we train Forensic people for this stuff. An this list goes on it's really crazy what you can these days.
While for the radiation, thats a whole new game. I bet the people investigating were saying WTF, because I doubt it's something their trained to handle.
(No im not an idiot who thinks everything on CSI is real, I learned this stuff in an actual classroom. An if you do like CSI, I have something to tell ya. They have never once did an episode without contaminating their own evidence.)

To me that whole flash thing only messed up my eye sight a bit from the picture changing so much so fast. Which is what their probably talking bout. But i rather see them do a study on people playing video games being oblivious to the world around them, aka enviroment, as in people walking by. And a study on how people are when they are playing video games vs not playing video games in terms of brain waves, pulse etc. And than another wide spread test on video games and concentraion, since in my case i had a lack of concentration before i became a gamer and now i can sit down and work on something hours on end without loosing my focus, i like science to point out thats possible.
Im a high school student, going to be a senior i recieved a laptop for christmas my jurnior year. Its a powerful little laptop 15.1 in screen 3.2ghz, 64mb video card, 512mb ram, etc. I personally use it as a experiment computer, since it is my PERSONAL computer and no one elses i can do what i want to it. I am currently running a duel operating system Ubunto Linux/Win Xp trying to learn the most i can. And the occasional video game here and there with friends. But the second i let someone else my age go on it the first thing they do is play video games or TRY to pull up porn. The few times i have brougt it to school to honestly work, someone wants to go on it to check their email,play games, or look at porn. Point is majiority of high schoolers from my experience think that all computers are for is email,instant messager,games, and porn. But there are the occasional odd ball like myself and a few fellow geeks who rather use out laptops or desktops to learn. So if you want to get your child a laptop and you dont know if you should. Remember, YOUR THE PARENT, YOU SHOULD KNOW THEM, USE YOUR JUDGEMENT.
