I cannot seriously see anyone accepting this tech. Corporations *might* but only if they can set it to poll THIER servers, and have it under their control.
Personally though.. it scares me that MS and their "Trusted Computing" scheme Might force this onto the users..
There is only three people/organizations that should have the ability to remove/restrict "owned" things... Me (the owner), The LAW (only after following the judicial system) or Judge Dredd.
I'm pretty sure you can disable the mechanism that they use do this.. its a simple "on/off" switch... so it doesn't matter if you agree to let them.. you turn it off with a choice they give you then they can't do it..
I wonder if this is in part due to the programs like trillian and the like that to the same job as ICQ but don't "rate" as a ICQ program download... watering down the poll?
I don't mind surfing without java support 90% of the time.. but it makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong cause not many others are seeing this problem... (none that I can find anyhow..)
I made the joke because I too have seen South Park and because I've seen southpark I think I know enough aboot Yankee/Canadian relationships that I can make a sucessfull joke on the topic...oh yeah I nearly forgot... "Eh?":-P
What can be made, can be unmade. =(very matrix sort of line)
If they create CD protection.. someone will find a way around it.. they should stop wasting their time and money and try a solution that fits our requirements as customers and fills their requirements as suppliers..
When I first saw the headlines for this I passed it off as a hoax immediatly.. every time I saw the headlines or someone e-mailed it to me I dismissed it as a joke.. I didn't even have to read the story..
In Australia companies have been trying to cut costs in It for about a year and a half now. You can only do that for so long before you run the risk of having your company fall so far behind that it will never recover (or you have to spend too much to recover).
I believe that companies in Australia will stop out sourcing and start spending large on IT internally very soon.. in the next 6 - 12 months at least.
I reckon we're about to see the second big rise of IT in Australia, right on the heals of broadband and "free to air" wireless networks..
Anyone one know if there is a forum for user user support??

He makes it sound like there is NO multiplay option at all.. surely they can't be that silly?!?!?!

Is the net making me cynical?? nah
isn't this just going to generate a bucket load of radio "noise", that will make Wireless networks of businesses harder to setup/maintain..
I really don't think that this tech was meant to be used in such a "overpopulated" way..
If you don't mind working inland then go for one of many IT jobs in the mining industry..
Places like Kalgoorlie in WA...
For Australia at least..
