Yes, I know it's easier to have a pre-setup laptop and not have to worry about searching for ndiswrapper etc for wireless, but the community that the linux laptop makers are targetting actually loves such challenges.
I'd rather pay more and get linux preinstalled and hot have to dink with drivers.
But I also want a specific distro. Fedora, RedHad, and SUSE aren't what I'm looking for.
I'd rater go with a debian based or maybe Gentoo distros.
I just bought a macbook (haven't got it yet) using this reasoning. I know I'm paying more than what the hardware is be worth. But having it work out of the box also has value.
Okay, let's do a thought experiment. Let's pretend that about 25,000 years ago (Or any year prior to the article's assertion), humanity was divided in half with no contact possible between them. Based on statistical methods alone (and I realize their methods were a little more complex), this model and a model where all humans has access to each other would lead to similar conclusions. Obviously these conclusions would be inaccurate for at least one of these models. I call bullshit.
There is one. I don't like it because the union looks at a science prof and lets say a health prof as being worth the same pay. It may be elitist but oh well.
I think ECS' employees take great pride in their hard work, even though they are getting paid very little in comparison to bloated unionized factories in North America.
Yes, how dare those union workers try to get things like livable wages, child labor laws and health insurance. What were those silly Americans thinking?
There was a show on PBS last friday about GM paying off workers to quit.
One instance was a janitor (in a union) making nearly twice as much as me. I'm a college professor.
Why did I go to school for so long?
i know what you mean. I moved to a very small town (with no one who shares intersts, I doubt anyone reads slashdot!) recently and most of my friends are scattered all over. I did meet most of my friends in person though and then we got scattered so maybe it's not quite the same thing.
How about "Why does it suck so much?". Or "Why are annoynig choices turned on by default?" (sounds, etc). Or "Why do you make me click on the url line, whan most other browsers had the 'innovation' to just open the browser with the cursor in the url placeholder?". "Why does IE insist on refreshing a page when you go back? it makes browsing very slow?". etc...
Have you actually had any bad experiences with paypal?
If you opt to accept credit cards (let's say for an ebay auction), Paypal will always charge you a percentage on all future trnasactions even if credit cards aren't the source of the payments.
You could slip 2 DVDs (or more) in an envelope that is addressed to your local distribution center and discard the envelope that is addressed to the remore distribution center. No printing necessary.
Potable water is not infinite.
So in other words, overweight people have superlegs...

There are Christians who don't believe in Trinity.
As soon as they get filling in their teeth.
What would have happened if the kid had that picture on a T-shrit and was wearing it in public?
(I'm assuming an IM icon is viewable by the "public")
If GM is going bankrupt then there is a problem.

It was a little bit of a rhetorical question but yes everybody's answer is right.
It still bothers me though.

Did you have TPS forms? :)

It takes less time to search for ied in google than to ask it here.
Once again, using the "print" link at the bottom of the article will give you a very nice, uncluttered, single-page, easy to read layout.
I just rented a Chevy Colbalt. It has to rank up there.
Yeah, they are the same people that hang pictures on the walls. It doesn't make the wall perform better.

It's hard to detect sarcasm when you don't know how smart/stupid the person posting is.

What's the advantage of these super-atms?
They are cheaper in the long run than hiring people... Same as robots in car factories.
