    No, our law-makers really only care about what angers law-makers. Thus, they ban child porn and the pirate bay.

    Even if the Pirate Bay is banned in the United States, which I have no idea what you mean by that, I can still happily go to that site by typing in the domain name. There is nothing suspicious going on with the DNS servers stopping me from resolving their address. GP's worry is that the EU would impose such restrictions.

    Also, I heard that after 9/11, people weren't supposed to play "Leaving on a Jetplane". And Comedy Central put a black box over Mohamed in Cartoon Wars (a South Park episode) after the big Mohamed hubbub, despite Mohamed being depicted in Super Best Friends (an earlier episode).

    Those were private corporations making those decisions, Clear Channel and Viacom respectively.

    The only software I want to subsidize is for my in-laws, so I don't have to fix their computer anymore.

    And actually I did just that last October by installing Ubuntu 8.04, haven't had a call since.

    That would actually be a great book. As regular high school teenagers, they would just be editing in insert mode. Just as if they were in pico or notepad. Suddenly, danger looms and they need more power, IT'S MODAL MORPHIN' TIME!

    The kids transform into command mode, battling Rita Repulsive's giant monsters with ease as they zoom around the text at high speeds unthinkable to any normal human being. "I'm going to double-d your evil monster hide with my HJKL stick!"

    Okay, missed that at it's time, which makes sense then. I actually did have a little thing that plugged into the back of my PSX and then had a spring on my CD drive to hotload games... just didn't know anyone else that did.

    Do you have numbers on the PSX being the most pirated console of all time? I'd be surprised if that was true as it required a hardware mod or some other hardware purchase. Xbox could be soft-modded and in the case of the Dreamcast, could just burn any game essentially.

    Online doesn't necessarily mean canned scripts where you click Next over and over. My wife finished her degree in a degree completion program through the University of Massachusetts. She had frequent teleconferencing sessions with her teacher and other students, and of course, tons of reading to do. She probably interacted more with her teachers in a year and a half through UMASS than I did in four years at the UW. More my own fault though.

    But you couldn't master materia in FF7 without having characters in battle, so it really wasn't that big of help. At least in FFX you could use spheres on anyone in your party.

    Except with Google ads, the people who actually own the website choose whether or not to serve them. Phorm ads are injected at the ISP level, completely ignoring whether the server wants the ads or not. Yes, they're still interest based, but they're evil for other reasons in my opinion.

    As much as I love Christian Bale, nothing wrong with the Japanese in this movie, of course, if you also didn't rip the subtitles, that might be an issue.
